Description
-Tuxedo WB-953 Wheel Balancer
What sets the WB-953 apart from a bare-spindle balancer is what happens around the spin: a 38" hood drops over the wheel before the cycle starts, and an electronic braking system slows the assembly down when the cycle ends. Those two things are a pair. A guard contains anything a tire flings off at speed; a powered brake means the wheel is stopped and safe to touch in seconds instead of coasting while a technician stands waiting or, worse, reaches in. On a machine that will run dozens of cycles a day, that is a workflow feature and a safety feature at once.
Self-calibrating, self-diagnosing
The WB-953 calibrates itself and runs its own diagnostics. In practice this is the difference between a balancer that quietly drifts and one that tells you it has drifted. Calibration on a balancer is not optional maintenance — a machine that has been knocked, moved or left on an uneven floor will produce confident, wrong numbers — and a self-calibration routine means the correction is a procedure any technician can run rather than a service call. Self-diagnosis does the same job for faults: the machine reports what is wrong instead of leaving the shop to work it out from bad readings.
Weight modes that match real wheels
Static, dynamic and three ALU modes come as standard, with distance and diameter entered by hand on a touch-panel keypad marked with icons rather than menus. ALU modes exist because a modern alloy often cannot take a clip weight on its outer lip without ruining the look of the wheel; the balancer instead calculates adhesive weight positions hidden behind the spokes or inside the barrel. Three of those modes covers the common wheel geometries. Car and motorcycle balancing modes are both standard too, so a shop is not locked out of two-wheel work.
Measurement input is helped by a retractable gauge built into the machine, which returns into the body rather than hanging on a hook. Readings are given to one gram.
The wheels it will take
Rim diameters from 10" to 24" (610 mm) and rim widths from 1.5" to 20" (508 mm) are within range, with an overall wheel diameter ceiling of 39" (990 mm) and a maximum wheel weight of 150 lbs. The wheel rides on a 36 mm balancing shaft, and a Speed-Nut with a lead-in screw secures it. If your work regularly includes oversized rims or heavy light-truck assemblies, compare them against the 24" and 150 lbs figures before ordering rather than after.
Will it fit your shop?
Electrical requirement: 110V, 15 amp, single-phase. That is an ordinary wall circuit, not a dedicated high-voltage drop, and it is one of the reasons this balancer suits a small independent bay as readily as a large one. Verify the circuit is a real 15-amp branch and not shared with a compressor.
Overhead room is the requirement people forget. The hood is 38" across and must be able to swing up and clear whatever is above and behind the machine — a low shelf, a hose reel or a bay heater will make the machine unusable in a spot that otherwise looks fine on the floor plan. Measure the height and the arc.
The unit ships at 335 lbs and must stand on a flat, level floor with all feet in contact. A balancer that rocks produces readings you cannot trust. Positioning, levelling and providing the electrical supply are the customer's responsibility, and are worth doing properly on this class of machine.
Perfect for
- Busy tire bays where the brake and hood cycle time genuinely add up over a day.
- General repair shops that want a machine which keeps itself in calibration between service visits.
- Dealership service departments handling alloy wheels that need adhesive weights placed out of sight.
- Powersport and mixed shops — motorcycle mode is standard, not an add-on.
What comes with it
The manufacturer's feature list describes the 38" hood, the electronic brake, the keypad and integrated retractable measuring gauge, the 36 mm shaft with Speed-Nut and centering spring, a weight shelf carrying 23 articulated pockets over 1.5" deep, and storage pegs on the housing for cones and a caliper. We would rather be precise than generous here: a peg intended to store a cone is not a statement that the cone is supplied. This model's published data contains no packing list, so if a particular cone set, caliper or hammer is part of why you are buying, ask us to confirm it in writing first.

Approvals: an honest note
No third-party safety listing is claimed anywhere in the documentation we hold for this balancer, and we are not going to imply one. Requirements differ by insurer, by employer policy and by local jurisdiction, and a wheel guard on a spinning assembly is exactly the kind of thing an inspector asks about. If you are working to a specific requirement, name it and we will confirm in writing what the manufacturer can supply before you commit.
Shipping and delivery
Delivery is by freight carrier within the lower 48 states, with the cost quoted live against your own address during checkout rather than guessed. Decide how the machine comes off the truck before you order — forklift, dock, or a terminal collection you arrange yourself. Residential deliveries attract a residential fee, applied at checkout where relevant, and warehouse pickup is offered as an alternative.
Check the shipment over at the kerb, before signing. Punctures in the crate, crushed corners and banding that has slipped or snapped are all worth writing on the bill of lading there and then. Once a clean BOL is signed, a later damage claim becomes an uphill argument.
Warranty
Warranty is administered through our warranty claims page. One standing rule: leave the machine intact until a claim is open. Dismantling a spindle, a brake assembly or a control board to diagnose it yourself is the most frequent reason a legitimate claim ends up refused. Take photographs, record the serial number, and speak to us before you reach for a spanner.
