-Description
-Schulz SRP 3008 Compact Rotary Screw Air Compressor, 230V Three Phase
The feature on this compressor that earns its keep is not printed on the front panel. It is the automatic starter with phase and sequence failure detection. On a three-phase machine, the two supply faults that quietly destroy equipment are a lost leg and reversed rotation, and a rotary screw air end turned backwards can be ruined in seconds. This unit is built to detect both and refuse to run, rather than to run once and be scrap. Paired with a 24V microprocessor controller that reports what it is doing instead of leaving you to interpret a gauge, it is a compressor designed to survive a bad supply.
Around that sits a compact machine: a 7.5 HP rotary screw producing 25 CFM at 125 PSI on a continuous 100% duty cycle, mounted directly on a 60-gallon horizontal receiver, in a package measuring 35" by 18" by 42" and weighing 373 lbs.
Confirm the supply phase before you order
Published figures for this machine's electrical supply differ, and the phase is worth settling before the freight is booked.
- The product title, the heading of the manufacturer description and the specification sheet all describe a 230V three-phase machine.
- One line inside the manufacturer's feature list describes the motor as 208-230-Volt single-phase.
Those are two different supplies, and which one you have decides how the machine is wired. The single-phase line matches the sibling model in this range and most likely came across from it, but likely is not the same as verified, and a compressor delivered for a supply your shop cannot feed is an expensive mistake to unwind. Confirm the phase with us before you order — call, text or chat, 866-774-7743 — and we will check it against the manufacturer's records for the exact unit you are buying. Everything else on this page reads the same across every source.
Why continuous duty is the reason to move off a piston pump
Horsepower is the number buyers compare and duty cycle is the number that decides whether they are happy a year later. A reciprocating compressor is engineered around rest: it pumps, stops, sheds heat and starts again, and its published output quietly assumes a duty cycle well under 100%. Ask it for air continuously and it runs hot, carries oil past the rings and into your air line, and wears out ahead of schedule.
A screw air end has no pistons reversing direction thousands of times a minute. Oil is injected into the compression chamber, where it seals the gap between the rotors, carries away the heat of compression and lubricates the bearings all at once. That is the mechanical reason a 100% duty cycle rating is credible here, and it means 25 CFM at 125 PSI is what the machine sustains rather than a peak between recovery periods. If your air demand is steady — blasting, sanding, plasma cutting, several techs on tools at once — that distinction is the whole purchase.
A 2-in-1 machine you can actually put somewhere
The air end and the 60-gallon receiver are one tank-mounted assembly. There is nothing to plumb between them, nothing to align, and one thing to place instead of two. At 35" wide, 18" deep and 42" high it will go under a mezzanine or a shelf that a vertical-tank compressor cannot clear, and it can sit against a wall in a corner rather than claiming a room.
The design is open rather than enclosed, which has a real upside and a real downside. The upside is service access — the belt, the air end, the filter and the electrical panel are all directly in front of you, with no panels to remove. The downside is that an open frame is not sound attenuated. If the compressor is going into a space where people work all day and quiet matters, look at an enclosed model instead; if it is going in a mechanical room or a back bay, the open frame is the more practical machine.
Will it fit, and what will it need?
Reserve the 35" by 18" footprint plus working clearance on the service side and enough space around the machine for cooling air. Height is 42", weight is 373 lbs — light enough to move on a pallet jack, heavy enough that it is not a two-person carry across a rough floor.
Electrically, plan for 230V service, and settle the phase question above before the order goes in. Sizing the branch circuit, disconnect and grounding, and having that work done to code by a licensed electrician, is the buyer's responsibility. The compressor must be on its own correctly sized circuit; an undersized supply on a screw compressor shows up as nuisance trips first and a damaged motor later.
Perfect for
- Shops that already have three-phase service and want continuous air without giving up a room to get it.
- Busy service bays where two or three techs draw air simultaneously through the middle of the day.
- Fabrication and welding shops running plasma equipment, which punishes any drop in supply pressure.
- Light production lines operating air-driven equipment across a whole shift.
- Tire, detail and quick-service operations with steady rather than peaky demand.
What is in the box
The unit arrives as one 2-in-1 assembly: the rotary air end, the 7.5 HP TEFC IP55 motor, the belt drive, the automatic starter with phase and sequence failure detection, the 24V microprocessor controller, an air filter, and the 60-gallon horizontal air receiver fitted with an oil sight glass and a 1/2" tank outlet. It does not include an air dryer or an electronic drain valve, and no air piping, fittings or electrical connection materials are supplied.

Ratings, stated plainly
The 60-gallon horizontal air receiver is an ASME-rated pressure vessel, which is the rating an inspector or an insurer generally expects to see on a shop air tank, and it is the claim the manufacturer makes here. Note what it does not cover: it is a vessel rating, not a North American third-party electrical safety listing for the machine as a whole, and the two are frequently confused. Schulz publishes no such listing for this model in the data we hold. If a plant standard, a lease or an insurance policy requires a nationally recognized testing laboratory mark on the complete assembly, confirm that before you buy.
Shipping and delivery
Shipped by freight within the lower 48 states. The delivery is curbside and unloading is on the receiver — a dock, a forklift, or collection from the carrier's local terminal are the three workable options at this weight. A residential delivery address carries a residential fee, quoted live at checkout rather than fixed here. Pickup for Schulz equipment is available in Acworth, GA.
Inspect before signing. Walk the crate, look for punctures, crushed corners, moved banding and any oil on the pallet, and write what you find on the bill of lading while the driver is still there. A clean signature is the carrier's proof that the shipment arrived intact, and undoing that afterwards is slow and often unsuccessful. Take photographs at the truck.
Warranty and support
Coverage is a 12-month warranty, listed on the specification sheet as 1 year consumer and 1 year commercial. Open the claim before you open the machine: once an air end or a controller has been dismantled, the manufacturer can no longer assess the failure as it occurred, and a warranty claim becomes very difficult to support. Contact us first on 866-774-7743 and we will tell you what to record.
