Recovery methods, and picking the right one
The RG6 supports push-pull, liquid and vapour recovery. Those are not interchangeable, and choosing correctly is most of the skill in getting a system emptied quickly.
Push-pull is the method for large charges — the machine drives vapour into the top of the system to force liquid out of the bottom and into your recovery cylinder, and it moves refrigerant far faster than pulling vapour ever will. It needs a system with a substantial liquid charge and a way to connect both paths, so it is a commercial and industrial technique rather than a small-split one. Liquid recovery is the fast path when you can get liquid to the machine directly. Vapour recovery is what finishes the job: slower, but it is what takes the system down to the vacuum level that lets you sign it off. A machine that only does one of the three makes you work around it.
Self-purge, and the contamination problem it solves
The self-purge function clears the machine's own internal passages of the refrigerant it has just handled. This is the feature that stops a service call turning into a warranty argument. Every recovery machine holds a residue of the last charge it processed; move straight from one refrigerant to another and that residue goes into the next system. Cross-contaminated refrigerant is not a problem you find on the day — it is a problem the customer finds later, and the machine is the obvious suspect. Purging between jobs is also simply faster than the manual alternative.
The high-pressure shut-off
A high-pressure safety switch shuts the machine down automatically if pressure climbs above 550 psi. Pressure rises like that when a recovery cylinder is fuller than the technician thought, when a cylinder valve is closed, or when ambient heat pushes head pressure up on a long recovery. On a machine without the switch, the operator is the safety system. Here the machine stops on its own, which is the right design for a unit that is regularly left running while its operator works on something else.
