Description
-Ranger RFJ-3TQP 3-Ton Floor Jack / Quick-Pump
Ranger RFJ-3TQP: one pump takes the saddle to the chassis
Every lift begins with wasted motion — the stretch of travel where the handle is doing nothing but closing the gap between the pad and the car. Ranger's Quick-Pump geometry on the RFJ-3TQP compresses that into a single stroke: one easy pump brings the saddle up to the chassis, and only then does the jack start doing the work you actually wanted. Multiply that by every wheel on every car in a shift and it is the difference between a tool that keeps up with the bay and one you wait on.
Underneath the speed is an ordinary, honest 6,000 lbs (3 tons) steel jack: heavy-gauge construction, a welded lift arm assembly, an alloy-plated ram, and sealed hydraulics. The Quick-Pump is what you notice; the steel is what makes it last.
Will It Fit?
- Entry: 5" (127 mm) at the pad, fully lowered. That gets under most vehicles sitting at factory ride height; if yours is lowered, measure at the jacking point before you order rather than assuming.
- Reach: 19.75" (502 mm) at full extension — nearly 20 inches, which is enough to bring a wheel clear, get stands under the sills and give real room for brake and suspension work.
- Footprint: 25.5" (648 mm) of chassis, 11" (279 mm) wide at the front, 13.5" (343 mm) at the rear. The taper is what gives it a stable base without a nose too wide to place.
- Floor: hard, level and clean enough for the casters to roll as the arm sweeps up. If the jack cannot travel toward the vehicle while lifting, it drives the vehicle sideways instead — judging whether your surface allows that is the operator's responsibility, every time.
Two shipping weights are published, and we will not pick one for you
Ranger's specification table for this jack states a shipping weight of 86 lbs. (39 kg). The descriptive copy on the current listing says the jack ships at roughly 82 lbs. Those are not the same claim about the same thing, and we do not have a document that settles which is correct — so we are printing both rather than quietly deleting one. In practice the gap makes no difference to how the jack works, but if the number is load-bearing for you — a courier weight limit, a shelf rating, a lifting policy at work — contact us before ordering and we will get the figure confirmed by Ranger.
What "Quick-Pump" actually is
It is internal geometry, not a marketing name. The linkage is arranged so the first stroke produces a large swing of the arm at very low load — there is no vehicle on the saddle yet, so there is no reason to move slowly — and the mechanism then transitions to a shorter, higher-force stroke once the car is being lifted. The effect is that the approach costs you one pump and the lift costs you the strokes it genuinely needs.
The rest of the hydraulic system is built to survive that being done all day. Sealed hydraulics keep dust, grit and water out of the fluid, which is the ordinary way a shop jack dies: contamination scores the ram, the seals pass, the jack starts creeping down under load. The alloy plating on the ram is the second half of that defence. Together they are why maintenance here is inspection — check for seepage, keep the pivots and casters clean and greased — rather than scheduled overhaul.
Safety, and the habits that go with it
A built-in safety overload system limits what the jack will attempt if the load exceeds its rating, so an over-capacity lift stops instead of escalating. The controls do the rest: centre the load on the saddle before lifting, so the jack rises straight rather than trying to twist; raise the vehicle; then immediately place rated jack stands under the manufacturer's support points and lower the vehicle onto them. Nobody goes under a car supported by a jack alone — not for a moment, not for one bolt. Lowering is done with the twist release, taken slowly, so the vehicle settles onto the stands rather than dropping the last part of the way.
Swivel casters mean an 86 lbs. tool can be pushed into position with a boot instead of dragged, which sounds trivial until you have moved it forty times in a day.
Perfect For
- High-volume tire and brake work, where the saved stroke on every corner is the point of buying this model over a standard jack.
- Mixed fleets of sedans, SUVs and light trucks — 6,000 lbs. of rating with the reach to match.
- Two-person shops where the same jack is shared and speed of setup is the bottleneck.
- Well-equipped home garages that want a professional-duty jack and will notice the difference in cycle time on a weekend of wheel-off work.
What's in the Box
The jack, assembled, with its handle. Ranger's listed features for this model do not include stands, chocks or adapters — budget for stands as a separate and mandatory purchase.

Certification, described rather than claimed
A manual, a specification sheet and a warranty document are published for this jack and linked on this page. An independent third-party safety listing is not among them, and we will not suggest otherwise. The distinction matters in a commercial setting: a manufacturer's documentation is the maker's own statement, while an outside listing means a separate body has tested the product and put its name to the result. Some insurers, fleet policies and workplace safety programmes accept only the latter. If that is your situation, tell us before you order and we will ask Ranger directly for whatever documentation exists.
Shipping and delivery
We ship within the lower 48 states, with the delivery charge calculated live at checkout for your address — no figure is printed here because carrier rates change and a stale one only causes disputes. A delivery to a residential address carries a residential fee, shown before you pay. Collection from the Ranger pickup points listed on this page is available as an alternative.
Inspect before signing. Crushed corners, tears or oil staining go onto the carrier's paperwork at the point of delivery — sign clean and the shipment is recorded as arriving intact, which makes a later claim much harder. Photograph the packaging, note the damage, and message us the same day.
Warranty and service
The governing terms are in Ranger's warranty document, linked on this page; we point you at the document rather than paraphrase it, because the paraphrase is always the thing that turns out to be wrong. In the meantime: do not disassemble the hydraulic unit before making a claim. Opening a sealed assembly normally voids coverage on it, and the symptoms that tempt people to try — sinking under load, a spongy handle, oil seepage — are exactly what a claim covers. Call, text or chat with us and we will start it for you.
