Description
-Ranger LS45DS: a wheel balancer that also does the pressing
The LS45DS ships with a flange press plate, and that is the least obvious and most useful thing about it. Press-on and press-off operations happen on the balancer itself rather than at a separate press across the shop, which removes a machine from your floor plan, removes a second setup from the job, and removes the walk. For a shop deciding how to spend both its money and its square footage, a balancer that absorbs the work of another tool is a different proposition from one that only balances.
Everything else about the machine is aimed at the same thing: taking steps out of a balance. Sonar 3D automatic data entry removes the keypad. Laser-Spot projection removes the guesswork about where the weight goes. A side-position brake holds the wheel exactly where you need it while you put the weight on.
3D auto data entry: the keypad is the slow part
On a conventional balancer the operator measures or estimates three values — wheel diameter, wheel width and offset distance from the machine — and types them in. Every one of those is an opportunity to be a little bit wrong, and a balance computed from slightly wrong geometry produces a weight in slightly the wrong place, which produces a second spin and sometimes a third.
The LS45DS captures those parameters automatically in three dimensions. The machine reads the wheel rather than asking you about it, which is both faster and, more to the point, repeatable between operators. A junior technician and your most experienced fitter feed the machine the same data because neither of them is entering any. An automatic rolling wheel parameter setting feature carries the same idea into the routine work, and a multi-user save function holds presets so a shop running the same fitments all week is not re-establishing them each time.
Laser-Spot: pointing at the answer instead of describing it
Display icons and LED pointers tell you which sector of the wheel the weight belongs in. A laser marks the spot. That distinction sounds small and is not, because the error a laser eliminates is the one nobody catches: a weight placed a few degrees off the correct position still reduces the imbalance, so the machine reports an improvement and the operator moves on, and the customer feels the residual at highway speed a week later.
A side-position brake holds the wheel at precisely the 12 o'clock or 6 o'clock position while the weight is applied, so the marked point is where your hands are. Tiered weight placement indicators cover the awkward cases — split-weight placements and hidden weights tucked behind a spoke — where the correct location is not visible from where you are standing. And an automatic round-off with a top-dead-centre indicator settles the final position rather than leaving it to be nudged by hand.
Low-RPM balancing, and why 180 RPM is a feature
The balancing speed is 180 RPM, and the cycle time is about seven seconds. Those two figures pull in opposite directions until you understand what the low speed is for. A low-RPM spin puts less energy into the assembly, which is safer around a heavy wheel, gentler on the shaft and bearings, and quieter in a bay where people are talking to customers. Automatic braking then stops the wheel under electronic control at the end of the spin instead of letting it coast, which is where the remaining time is saved.
Measurement resolution is fine enough that the machine is calculating the minimum weight that will do the job rather than the first weight that works. Weight used is a consumable cost and an accumulating mass on the wheel, so a machine that consistently asks for less of it pays for itself quietly. Balancing modes cover dynamic, static, three aluminium alloy programmes and a hidden-weight mode.
Will it fit, and what it needs
Height with the guard raised is 66" (1,676 mm) and 53" (1,346 mm) with it down — check the raised figure against anything overhead, because a hood that cannot fully open is a machine that cannot start. Width is 54" (1,371 mm), and depth is 39" (990 mm) with the cover up or 40" (1,016 mm) with it down. The power cord is 63" (1,600 mm), which is short enough to matter: the outlet needs to be near where the machine stands, not across the bay.
On power, the product data describes a 208-240V supply and the specification table lists the motor as 220 VAC, 1 Ph, 50/60 Hz. Treat that as a single-phase requirement and have the exact voltage confirmed with us and with your electrician before the circuit is run — it is one message, and it is cheaper than moving an outlet afterwards. Wheel capacity runs 12" - 24" (305 mm - 610 mm) in diameter and 4" - 20" (102 mm - 508 mm) in width, with a maximum wheel weight of 145 lbs. (65 kg). Confirming your circuit, your ceiling clearance and your heaviest routine wheel against those figures is the buyer's responsibility.
Perfect for
- High-volume tire shops where balancing throughput, not capability, is the bottleneck.
- Shops short on floor space, since the included flange press plate removes the need for a separate press.
- Dealership service departments running mixed OEM fitments with hidden and split-weight requirements.
- Workshops with mixed-experience staff, where automatic data entry keeps results consistent between operators.

Certification and compliance, stated honestly
The product data we hold for the LS45DS claims no third-party safety listing, and we will not claim one for it. Some insurers, fleet contracts and local jurisdictions require shop equipment carrying an independent test-house listing — a document issued by an outside laboratory, which is not the same thing as a manufacturer's own declaration of conformity. If that condition applies to you, read what your paperwork actually specifies before ordering, and ask us if you would like help matching the requirement to a machine.
Shipping and delivery
The LS45DS ships as freight within the lower 48 states. Unloading is arranged at the receiving end — a forklift, a dock with a pallet jack, or a collection from the carrier's terminal — so settle which applies before delivery is scheduled. Residential delivery is a different service from a commercial dock and carries a residential fee, quoted live at checkout. Inspect the crate before signing and write any damage onto the bill of lading while the driver is still there; a clean signature is very hard to undo.
Warranty
Coverage follows the manufacturer's published warranty document for this product, and we will send you the current version before you order if you ask. One caution specific to a balancer: do not dismantle the shaft assembly or the sensor housing to investigate a calibration complaint before raising a claim. The self-calibration routine handles ordinary drift, and opening a sealed measuring assembly both removes the evidence a claim depends on and usually ends the coverage on it.
