Quincy G314K30HCE QP — 14 HP Kohler, 30 Gallon Truck-Mount Two-Stage Air Compressor

The detail that separates this unit from every other engine-driven compressor on a service body is what happens to the oil. The G314K30HCE is fully pressure lubricated: a gerotor positive displacement oil pump pushes oil to the crankshaft, the bearings and the rods, rather than relying on a dipper flinging it around the crankcase. On a machine that spends its life tilted on a truck deck, bouncing down a farm track and starting cold, that is not a marketing distinction. It is the difference between oil reaching a bearing and oil being somewhere near it.

Around that sits a 14 HP Kohler Command Pro engine with 12-Volt button start, a cast iron QT-7.5 belt drive pump and a 30 gallon horizontal receiver, rated to 175 PSI and specified for 100% duty. It is built to be bolted to a truck and forgotten about, which is a harder job than sitting in a heated shop.

Read this before you order

The battery is not included, and neither is the cable. Electric start means a 12-Volt supply has to come from somewhere. On a service truck that is usually the vehicle, through a cable and an isolator you or your upfitter provides. It is the single most common surprise on an engine-driven compressor delivery, so we would rather you read it here than discover it on the tailgate.

We are not publishing an air delivery figure. Our records carry more than one CFM value for this machine, measured at different pressures and not obviously reconcilable, and a delivery number is exactly the specification a buyer sizes their tool kit around. We will not guess between them. Tell us what you run — a heavy impact gun, a chipping hammer, two grinders at once — and we will get the manufacturer's rated delivery at your working pressure in writing before you commit.

Will it fit on your truck?

Measure before you buy, because a service body is an unforgiving space. The package is 42" long, 21" wide and 40" tall, and it weighs 501 lb dry. That weight matters twice over: once for the crane or forklift that puts it on the deck, and once for the payload budget of the vehicle itself, which is the buyer's responsibility to check against the axle and GVW ratings. Leave room around the flywheel and the intercooler for air to move — an engine-driven compressor boxed into a tight compartment will run hot and shorten its own life.

Fuel, exhaust routing and adequate ventilation are down to you or your upfitter. A petrol engine must never be run in an enclosed space, and that is not a warranty point, it is a carbon monoxide point.

Why pressure lubrication earns its place

A splash-lubricated pump throws oil upward from the sump with a dipper on the connecting rod. It works, it is cheap and it is entirely adequate on a machine sitting level on a shop floor. Tilt that same crankcase on a truck parked across a camber, or ask it to start at low temperature when the oil is thick, and the splash gets less reliable exactly when the loads are highest.

A gerotor pump does not care about angle. It is a positive displacement pump: turn it and it moves oil, at pressure, through drilled passages to every journal. Add the spin-on filter and the oil arriving at those surfaces is also clean, which is the other half of bearing life. The pump is rated at 50,000 hours or more, and pressure lubrication is a large part of why that number is credible on a mobile machine.

The engine, the flywheel and the intercooler

The 14 HP Kohler Command Pro is a commercial engine, and the electric start is the feature your technicians will actually thank you for — nobody wants to pull a rope on a cold morning with a full tool belt on. A fan-type cast iron flywheel drives cooling air across the intercooler, the cylinders and the heads, which is how a machine with no shop ventilation around it keeps its temperatures sensible.

Between the compression stages sits a high-efficiency fin and tube intercooler. Cooling the air between the first and second stage means the second stage compresses cooler, denser gas: less work, lower discharge temperature, and considerably longer life from the stainless steel reed valves, which are corrosion resistant and use valve bumpers to control lift. Graphite cylinder and head gaskets keep the seal honest through those heat cycles.

Perfect For

  • Service and utility trucks — this is the application the machine was designed around.
  • Agricultural and site work where there is no mains power within a mile.
  • Tyre service and roadside fleets running impact tools all day at 100% duty.
  • Contractors who need shop-grade two-stage air delivered to wherever the job is.

What's in the Box

You receive the complete compressor package: Kohler engine, QT-7.5 cast iron belt drive pump, gerotor oil pump with spin-on filter, fin and tube intercooler, cast iron flywheel, 30 gallon receiver, air filter and pressure gauge. As above, the battery and cable are not supplied. Mounting hardware for your particular body, fuel plumbing and any enclosure are also outside the package.

Certification, stated plainly

The certification field we hold for this product names ASME, UL and CSA. Those are component and receiver level claims and we will repeat them exactly as they reach us, no further. Our data does not contain a third-party safety listing for the complete engine-driven package as an assembly, and a receiver or component approval is a different document with a different scope. If a fleet policy, a site induction or an insurer asks for a listing on the whole machine, ask us first and we will request the paperwork from the manufacturer rather than tell you what you want to hear.

Shipping and Delivery

Freight only, lower 48. The rate is quoted live at checkout against your actual address rather than estimated, so what you see is what the carrier is charging that day. At 501 lb this arrives on a pallet and you will need equipment or hands to get it down — forklift, dock, or a terminal collection, which many customers find simpler than arranging a residential appointment. Deliveries to a residential address carry a residential fee.

Check the freight before signing. Look at the crating, the engine shroud and the tank for impact marks, and note anything at all on the bill of lading in front of the driver. Signing clean and calling us the next day leaves you with very little to claim on.

Warranty

Cover starts at a 1 year factory warranty and extends to Quincy's 3-Year "No Bull" programme. The manufacturer's conditions for the extension are specific: the EWK-3 maintenance kit has to be bought at the same time as the compressor, and the unit has to be registered at www.quincycompressor.com. Neither can be done afterwards, so if you want the longer cover, say so while you are ordering and we will add the kit.

If a fault appears, open the claim before anyone opens the machine. Stripping a pump or an engine to find out what happened is the fastest way to turn a covered failure into an uncovered one.
