Start with what is not in the crate, because it is what decides whether this machine is running next week or waiting on an electrician. The 2V41C60VC has no magnetic starter fitted and no power cord supplied, Quincy specifies a 50 Amp breaker for it, and the manufacturer is explicit that installation must be carried out by a qualified technician.

None of that is a fault. It is a machine sold to be hard-wired into a shop by someone competent, and it is priced and built accordingly. But it is the single most useful paragraph on this page, and most listings for this model bury it under the feature list.

What that means in practice

Budget for three things alongside the compressor: the switchgear, the wiring, and the electrician's time. A 5 HP motor on a 230 Volt, 1-Phase supply is a substantial single-phase load — the 50 Amp breaker Quincy recommends tells you that plainly — so check that your panel has both the capacity and a free double-pole slot before you order, not after the pallet arrives.

A magnetic starter is the item worth discussing with your electrician up front. It switches the motor current through a contactor rather than making a pressure switch do work it was not designed for, and it carries a thermal overload that drops the motor out before a struggling machine cooks its own windings. On a motor this size, most installers will want one. Ask us and we will talk through what suits your installation rather than leaving it to discovery on the day.

Continuous duty, and the parts that make it possible

The pump is rated for a 100% duty cycle: built to keep running rather than to be rested between jobs. What makes that credible is a splash-lubricated cast-iron pump running at low speed, an extra-capacity oil reservoir with low oil pump temperature protection, industrial-grade bearings, and a large balanced cast-iron flywheel angled to move cooling air across the pump. A balanced crankshaft keeps the vibration down, which on a tall machine is as much a mounting question as a comfort one.

Two-stage compression is the other half of the story. Air is compressed, passed through a high-efficiency finned tube intercooler, and compressed again. Cooling between the stages is what makes 175 PSI a working pressure rather than a strained maximum, and it is what stops carbon accumulating in the head — the process that ends valve life early on a single-stage machine worked hard. The head is aluminium for heat dissipation and the reed valves are stainless steel, which is a corrosion decision as much as a flow one.

One thing we will not tell you is how many cylinders it has. This product's own copy says one number in the body text and a different one in its feature list, and rather than pick the more plausible of two contradictory sources we would rather say so and let you ask. If the cylinder count matters to your decision, ask us and we will confirm it against a current Quincy sheet before you order.

About the delivered-air figure

Same principle, same reason. Our specification record puts the pump at 15.2 cubic feet per minute rated at 175 PSI, but that value reaches us in a field whose unit is not established anywhere else in this product's own data. An air system designed around a wrong flow number is an expensive thing to find out late, so if your decision turns on delivered air at a stated pressure, ask us and we will confirm it in writing.

Will it fit?

The 60-gallon receiver stands upright, so the machine takes roughly 29" by 21" of floor and stands about 70" tall — noticeably shorter and tighter than the larger two-stage machines in the range, which is often the deciding factor in a domestic garage or a single-bay shop. Measure to whatever sits above the intended corner, and leave reach room for the gauge, the belt guard and the drain.

Underneath it, a flat, solid, level pad. 475 lbs standing tall on a small footprint magnifies every fault in a slab, and a machine that rocks will loosen its own mounting and hum through the building. Floor preparation is the buyer's responsibility and it is worth doing properly once.

The tank outlet is 1/2", and no air dryer is fitted, so drying, filtration and regulation are separate items in the line. The tank drain is manual — and on this model, with no automatic drain to fall back on, draining it is the routine that decides whether the receiver rusts from the inside.

The claims here are specific and we will not stretch them. The receiver is a coded pressure vessel built to the American standard, fitted with pressure relief valves. The motor meets UL and CSA electrical standards. Quincy also states the unit is built in the U.S.A.

What no part of this data claims is a third-party safety listing of the complete machine as installed — and on this model that gap is worth a moment's thought, because the starter and the wiring are your specification rather than Quincy's. Some insurers, fleet standards and local inspectors ask for that listing by name on hard-wired shop equipment. If yours does, raise it with us before you order, and tell your electrician too.

Palletised freight to the lower 48 states. The cost is quoted live at checkout for your own address rather than estimated from a table.

Work out the unload first. A driver's job ends at the tailgate, so a dock, a forklift or a pallet jack on firm level ground needs to be there. If your site has none, take terminal pickup and collect from the carrier with your own equipment. A home address is a residential delivery and carries a residential fee — better agreed at the point of order than debated in a driveway.

Inspect it before you sign. Damage recorded on the bill of lading in front of the driver is claimable; damage found afterwards, on a clean signature, usually is not. Photograph the pallet and the crate and write down anything that looks wrong.

Warranty

A 1-Year factory warranty applies, extending to Quincy's 3-Year "No Bull" warranty. That extension carries Quincy's own conditions rather than arriving automatically with the machine, so read the warranty handbook linked on this page and confirm what this model asks of you before you plan around three years.

One rule protects whichever cover you hold: if the pump develops a fault, leave it assembled.
