The number to read on this listing is 923 RPM. That is how fast the pump turns, and it is remarkably slow for a machine producing 51 CFM at 175 PSI. Shaft speed is the quiet variable behind almost everything that determines how long a reciprocating compressor lasts, and a pump that makes this much air while turning this slowly is doing it with displacement rather than with revolutions. Quincy rates the splash-lubricated cast-iron pump at more than 50,000 hours, and drives it with an industrial Baldor motor on 208V 3-phase power at a 100% duty rating.

What slow actually buys

Piston speed is the root of piston wear. Every stroke drags rings along a bore under load, and the faster that happens the hotter the ring, the thinner the oil film and the quicker the bore polishes. Halve the shaft speed and you roughly halve the number of those events per hour of running, and you drop the temperature at which each one takes place. That is why two compressors with the same capacity on the sticker can have wildly different service lives, and why a slow four-cylinder pump costs more than a fast two-cylinder one to make the same air.

There is a second benefit that shows up on the shop floor rather than in the specification: noise. A slow pump produces a lower-frequency, less penetrating sound than a high-speed unit, and it transmits less vibration into whatever it is bolted to. On a machine expected to run continuously in a working bay, that is not a luxury.

Air clean enough to use

The QT Pro pump is specified to hold oil carry-over below 5 PPM. That figure deserves attention because oil in the air line is not merely untidy — it contaminates paint work, degrades the seals in downstream tools and pneumatic valves, and coats the inside of the pipework so that even an upgrade further down the line inherits the problem. Getting the carry-over low at the pump is a great deal cheaper than filtering it out afterwards.

Around that sit the parts you would expect on an industrial machine: cast-iron cylinders with an aluminum head, stainless steel reed valves, and a fin and tube intercooler between the stages that holds the interstage temperature down. A factory-fitted magnetic starter provides motor thermal overload protection, and a low oil shut-off and oil sight glass make the daily checks quick enough that they actually get done.

Will It Fit?

The unit is built on a horizontal 120-gallon receiver, 78 inches long, 28 inches wide and 55 inches high, weighing 995 lbs. Plan the placement for service access as well as footprint — you want the belt guard, sight glass and drain reachable without moving anything, and you want the fan drawing room air. Air leaves through a 1-inch outlet, which is a large port sized for hard pipe.

Power is 208V 3-phase. Confirm that at your panel rather than assuming from other equipment on site, because shop three-phase comes at more than one voltage and the wrong choice shows up as poor starting and a motor running hotter than it should. The magnetic starter is included. Breaker and conductor sizing is a certified electrician job against your actual service and run length, which is what the manufacturer documentation instructs rather than printing a number. Verifying supply, doorway width, access route and floor capability before you order is the buyer responsibility.

Shipping and Delivery

This compressor moves by freight to the lower 48 states; it is far past what any parcel carrier will handle. Freight is quoted live at checkout against your own address rather than buried in the price. Two practical points follow from that. You must be able to get the machine off the truck at the delivery end — a forklift, a dock or a telehandler — or you can arrange to collect it from the carrier terminal instead. And delivery to a residential address is handled differently by carriers and carries a residential fee, so pick the option that matches the real destination when you order.

Inspect the pallet before you sign for it. Walk around it looking for a bent guard, a cracked gauge, oil on the wrapping or a receiver that has taken a knock on one corner, and write whatever you find on the bill of lading while the driver is still there. Warranty

The compressor is covered by a 1-year factory warranty on parts and labour. That cover extends when the unit is registered promptly with Quincy and the EWK-5 maintenance kit is purchased with it — the extension runs longer on the pump than on the rest of the package, and reaches the 3-year No Bull cover with on-site service. Because the extension depends on registering at the time of purchase, it is not something you can arrange later when a fault appears. If one does appear, call us before the pump or the starter is opened. A machine that has already been apart is the single most common reason a manufacturer refuses to pay a claim.
