The VOX-14HD is an oil exchange system for commercial and heavy-duty vehicles, and the specification that decides whether it suits you is the first one: it is fully pneumatic. There is no motor, no cord and no electrical connection of any kind. Shop air does the extraction, the transfer and the dispensing.

That single design decision is what makes the machine go places other oil systems cannot. It can be vehicle-mounted and driven to the equipment rather than waiting for the equipment to be driven to it — which, for anyone servicing trucks on a yard, plant on a site or a fleet parked overnight across town, is the difference between a service you can offer and one you cannot. It also removes an entire class of problem: no outlet to find, no extension lead across a wet floor, no electrical inspection on a machine that lives around fuel and oil.

How the Exchange Works

Rather than draining under gravity and hoping, the VOX-14HD uses air pressure to purge used oil out of the filter and the engine's oil passages while it simultaneously evacuates the pan and replaces the contents with clean oil. Two things follow from that. First, the oil that comes out is the oil that was actually in the engine, including what a gravity drain leaves sitting in the filter housing and the galleries. Second, because the engine is refilled as it is emptied, it is pre-lubricated before it is restarted.

That second point is the one worth dwelling on. A conventionally drained engine spins on dry bearings for the first moments after a restart while the pump builds pressure, and that dry interval is where a meaningful share of an engine's lifetime bearing wear happens. Refilling as you empty means oil pressure is effectively there at the turn of the key — MAHLE describes it as the engine getting a hot start. On a fleet of high-hour diesels, that is not a talking point, it is a maintenance argument.

Clean, Because of the Fittings

The machine uses patented spill-free quick-disconnect drain fittings. No drain pan goes under the vehicle, nothing is carried across the bay full, and there is no interval where an open drain is dripping onto the floor. Anyone who has cleaned an oil-slicked bay floor, or had to answer for one, understands what that is worth. The technician also never makes contact with the used oil, which is a health matter as much as a housekeeping one.

Built to Be Moved and Used

Construction is all steel, and MAHLE describes this as the smallest-footprint oil change system in the FluidPRO range — a combination that matters because the machine has to survive being knocked about while still fitting where a truck bay has room. It rolls on hard rubber wheels, so it goes bay to bay under one person's effort.

Two details that only reveal themselves in use: there is a sampler port, so a clean oil sample for analysis is captured as part of the job rather than as an awkward extra step with a pump and a bottle; and there is an integrated pistol-grip dispenser that meters new oil in either quarts or litres, so filling is a controlled, measured operation instead of a count of glugs.

The Time Argument

The process runs on its own. Once the machine is connected, the technician is free to do the rest of the service — filters, greasing, an inspection, the next vehicle — instead of standing over a drain plug. In a truck shop the bottleneck is rarely the oil itself; it is the technician's time and the bay's occupancy, and this machine attacks both. MAHLE's own framing is less downtime and more time for the trucks on the road, which is the way a fleet manager measures it.

Will It Fit Your Operation?

• Air, not electricity. The only supply it needs is compressed shop air. Confirm your compressor can hold working pressure while other air tools are in use — a system that sags under load will make the machine slow.
• Fresh oil under pressure. The unit is designed to draw new oil from a pressurised supply, and it needs a waste oil tank to discharge into. Those are the three connections: air, fresh oil under pressure, waste tank.
• Tank capacity. The onboard storage tank is 14 gal, sized for heavy-duty sump volumes rather than passenger cars.
• Reach. The suction and fill hoses are 15 ft, so the cart does not have to be tucked under the vehicle to work.
• Floor. Hard rubber wheels want a reasonably flat surface. If it is going to be vehicle-mounted, plan the mounting before it arrives.

Confirming your air supply, your fresh-oil supply arrangement and the space the machine will occupy is the buyer's responsibility. Ask us before ordering if you are unsure — this is a machine that depends on the shop around it, and it is much easier to sort out beforehand.

That is a deliberate statement rather than an omission: if a workshop equipment approval, an electrical listing or a workplace-safety sign-off is a condition of your insurance, your site rules or a customer contract, ask us before you order and we will get you the manufacturer's documentation to check against. Note that on this particular machine one common approval question does not arise in the usual way — there is no electrical supply to it at all.

Shipping and Delivery

Shipped by freight within the lower 48 states, with the cost quoted live at checkout for your delivery address instead of printed on the page, because freight rates change and a stale number causes an argument later. The unit travels on a pallet, so you must be able to take it off the truck — a forklift, enough people, or a collection from the carrier's terminal that you arrange directly. Delivery to a residential address carries a residential fee, which the checkout shows you before you pay.

Inspect the pallet before signing. Photograph any damage and write it on the bill of lading while the driver is still there. A clean signature is the carrier's evidence that everything arrived intact, and a concealed-damage claim raised afterwards is a much harder argument.

If something does go wrong, raise the claim before you start taking the unit apart. Stripping a suspect pump, valve or fitting ahead of an authorisation almost always ends the claim regardless of how correct the diagnosis was. Call it in, get the instruction, and work to that.
