MAHLE VCX-1 FluidPRO Two-Tube Vacuum Coolant Exchanger

The VCX-1 is a coolant exchange cart that runs on shop air alone. There is no motor to wire in and no cord to find an outlet for: a Venturi generator turns compressed air into vacuum, and that vacuum does the pulling, the drawing-down and the filling. If your bays already have air drops, the machine is ready to work the moment it is rolled into position.

The second thing that sets it apart is that you can see the job happening. Two transparent cylinders stand side by side on the cart, one holding waste and one holding fresh coolant, each 20 quarts (18.9 liters). A technician watching those two columns knows how much old fluid actually came out and how much new fluid actually went in, rather than trusting a timer or a feel on the hose. On a cooling system service where the whole point is getting the old fluid out, that visible evidence is the difference between a job done and a job assumed.

Will It Fit Your Shop?

The VCX-1 stands 63 in. high, 28 in. wide and 22.5 in. deep (160 cm x 71 cm x 57 cm) and weighs 166 lb. (75 kg), so it parks in a corner of a bay rather than occupying one. The service reach comes from the hoses, which are 10 ft (3 m) long and wire-reinforced, so the cart does not have to be nosed up against a bumper to work.

The one requirement to check before you order is air. The machine is specified to run on shop air at 55 to 110 psi (3.8 to 7.6 bar) through its integrated, factory pre-set pressure regulator. A compressor that cannot hold pressure in that band while other tools are running will make the vacuum stage slow and inconsistent. Confirming the air supply, the drop location and the floor space is the buyer's responsibility — we can talk you through it, but the shop is the only place those measurements can be taken.

Why the Vacuum Stage Matters

The Venturi generator pulls up to 28 inches of mercury (0.95 bar). A cooling system that has been drained is full of air, and air trapped in a heater core or a high point in the block is the usual reason a car comes back with a heater that blows cold or a temperature gauge that wanders. Drawing the system down to a deep vacuum first means the incoming coolant is pushed in by atmospheric pressure and fills the voids instead of chasing pockets of air around the engine. It is also the fast way to do it: typical service cycles run five to fifteen minutes depending on how much the cooling system holds.

Colour-Coded Controls, and Why That is a Safety Feature

The control panel carries a vacuum gauge and a colour-matched ball-valve system. The technician selects vacuum, fill or bypass by moving a valve to a marked position rather than by remembering a sequence. On a machine that can hold both an old and a new coolant type, the cost of selecting the wrong function is not a slow job — it is contaminated fluid or coolant on the floor. Colour-matching the function to the valve is the kind of design choice that only shows its value in a busy shop with more than one technician using the same cart.

The same thinking runs through the fluid path. Both cylinders are fiberglass composite with machined aluminium no-leak end caps sealed by pressure O-rings, and the waste cylinder carries its own pressure relief valve. The cone adapters use the same no-leak end cap design and simply insert into the radiator spout or the overflow tank, which is what makes the machine work across most makes and models without a drawer full of vehicle-specific fittings.

Built to be Rolled Around a Working Floor

The chassis rides on cushioned, non-inflatable rear wheels with permanently lubricated bearings — nothing to inflate, nothing to grease — and caster-style front wheels that lock and carry a debris shield. A shop floor is a hostile place for a caster: swarf, hose clamps and dried coolant are what seize them. The shield is there so the cart still rolls in year three.

Perfect For

  • Independent repair shops that sell cooling system service as a menu item and need the job to take minutes rather than an afternoon.
  • Dealership service departments running several coolant chemistries across a mixed fleet of vehicles, where changeover speed is the constraint.
  • Fleet and municipal garages where a machine has to be shared between technicians and survive being pushed between bays.
  • Shops without spare electrical capacity — this one needs an air line, not a circuit.

What's in the Box

The unit is supplied with its two coolant cylinder assemblies, the colour-coded control panel and regulator, clear wire-reinforced hoses, two cone plugs and an 8 in. (20 cm) hose adapter. Coolant is not included, and the machine is deliberately agnostic about which type you put in it.

Certification, Honestly

The product data we hold on this unit records no third-party safety listing or conformity marking of any kind. That is not a criticism of the machine — a mobile fluid-service cart is not the same regulated category as a vehicle lift — but it does mean we will not print a badge we cannot evidence. If your insurer, your corporate purchasing standard or a local requirement asks for equipment carrying a specific listing or declaration, ask us before you order and we will go back to the manufacturer for the paperwork rather than guess.

Shipping and Delivery

This unit ships by freight within the lower 48 states. Freight is quoted live at checkout, so you see the real cost for your address rather than an estimate baked into a page. You must be able to receive and unload the shipment, or arrange to collect it from the carrier's terminal — the driver is not obliged to bring it inside. Residential delivery is available and carries a residential fee. Whatever the destination, inspect the crate before you sign: note any damage, crushing or missing pieces on the delivery receipt at the time of delivery. A signed-clean receipt makes a damage claim very difficult to pursue afterwards.

Warranty

The manufacturer's stated warranty on this unit is 1 year, parts and labor. If something goes wrong inside the warranty period, contact us first and leave the machine intact — disassembling a unit, or attempting a repair on it, before a claim has been opened is the most common reason a valid claim is refused.
