MAHLE ACX2250 ArcticPRO® R1234yf Refrigerant Handling System

The ACX2250 handles R1234yf — recovery, recycling, evacuation and charging — with no technician standing over it. What makes it worth a look beyond the cycle itself is that it is a reporting instrument as well as a service machine: it logs and monitors every service it performs, so refrigerant consumption, service reminders and warranty reporting come off the unit as data rather than off a clipboard by the door.

For a single-bay shop that may be a nice-to-have. For anyone who has ever had to reconcile a refrigerant cylinder against a month of work orders, or evidence an A/C repair to a manufacturer, it is the reason to buy this class of machine instead of a manifold set and a scale.

The Connected Side, in Detail

Three capabilities work together here and they are easy to skim past:

  • Wireless software updates, permanently. The unit keeps itself current instead of drifting out of date as new vehicles arrive in the bay.
  • Remote support over WiFi. MAHLE can connect to the machine directly to troubleshoot and provide advanced support. A good share of "we need to book an engineer" problems become a call instead.
  • Network printing. Service records are retained and can be printed over the network, so the customer leaves with paperwork and you keep the copy. An optional thermal printer prints reports at the machine, and an optional iOS and Android phone app mirrors a service session remotely.

Will It Fit Your Bay?

This is a mobile cart, so the constraints are floor, power and ambient temperature.

  • Space. 47" H x 29" W x 29" D (119 cm x 74 cm x 74 cm), plus swing room at the front for the hinged service door.
  • Mass. 215 lb. (98 kg) on casters. Flat, swept concrete is fine; a lipped threshold or a gravel yard is not.
  • Electrical. One ordinary single-phase outlet: 120 VAC - 60 HZ - 12 AMP.
  • Reach. 9 ft. (2.75 m) hoses decide how close the cart must be parked to the vehicle.
  • Climate. Rated to run at 50° - 122°F (10°-50°C). Shops that go below freezing overnight or bake in summer should confirm the bay stays inside that band.

Checking the outlet, the aisle and the working temperature is the buyer's job. We are happy to talk it through before you order; we cannot survey the building for you.

Accuracy You Can Point At

Charge performance is stated as +/- 0.5 oz. at 70° to 75°F (+/- 15g at 21° to 24°C), and recovery as 95% at 70° to 75°F (21° to 24°C) within 30 minutes. Both figures are quoted at a defined bench temperature, which is the honest way to state them — refrigerant behaviour is temperature-dependent and a number given with no conditions attached tells you nothing.

The hardware behind those numbers: a 3/8 HP compressor for recovery, a 2 CFM dual stage vacuum pump for evacuation, a 30 lb. (13.6 kg) DOT charging cylinder, and a spin-on filter-drier rated to 150 lb. (68kg) of throughput.

Oil Weighed, Not Estimated

Recovered oil is weighed automatically, so replenishment is matched to the amount actually removed during the service. This is where an automatic machine quietly earns its keep. A compressor left short of oil fails months later and the failure looks like a component defect rather than a service error; a system given too much oil simply cools badly and gets chased around the vehicle. Measuring removes the argument.

Contamination Control

The unit uses a non-integrated refrigerant identifier: the sample is drawn through a third hose and its own coupler, so refrigerant under test never enters the machine's internal plumbing. On R1234yf this matters more than it does on older refrigerants, because the cost of a contaminated tank and filter-drier is real money and the vehicles most likely to be contaminated are exactly the ones that turn up with a complaint.

On the Bay Floor

The interface is a colour 7" capacitive touch screen, and an LED status indicator shows the machine's state from anywhere in the workshop — useful when the technician running the cycle is under a different vehicle. The hinged service door means filter and routine maintenance work happens from the front, without dragging the unit into the aisle.

Perfect For

  • Independent workshops adding a dedicated R1234yf machine so the existing R134a unit is never cross-used.
  • Multi-bay operations that need a printed service record and a running log rather than a technician's memory.
  • Fleet and municipal shops that have to account for refrigerant purchased against refrigerant used.
  • Dealer service departments working to a manufacturer's charge specification with documentation to match.

Standards, Stated Honestly

The specification table above the fold lists the refrigerant-handling performance standards and the electrical-safety standard this unit is built to. Those describe the machine: how closely it charges, how much it recovers, and how safely it is constructed. They do not speak to what your insurer, your fleet policy or your local authority may separately require of refrigerant equipment or of the technician operating it, and in the United States refrigerant work also carries federal technician-certification obligations that have nothing to do with the machine's own paperwork. If a named approval is a condition of your cover or your licence, get that requirement in writing and check it against the specification before you order — we will help you read it.

Shipping and Delivery

Freight only, to the lower 48 states, quoted live at checkout against your own address — we do not publish a shipping figure here because freight rates move and a stale number becomes an argument later. The machine travels on a pallet, so you must be able to take it off the truck: a forklift, enough hands, or a terminal collection you arrange with the carrier. A residential delivery address carries a residential fee, shown at checkout.

Check the pallet before signing. Photograph anything crushed, torn or scuffed, and write the damage onto the bill of lading while the driver is still there. An unqualified signature is the carrier's proof the machine arrived sound, and it makes a later claim very difficult.

Warranty and Support

A two year standard warranty is listed for this unit, backed by nationwide service centres and lifetime phone support coverage. MAHLE builds these to be repaired by the owner rather than swapped out, which is worth something on a machine expected to stay in service for years.

If you do need to claim: raise it before you take anything apart. Opening the refrigerant circuit or removing a suspect component ahead of an authorisation will usually end the claim, no matter how sound the diagnosis was. Phone it in, get the instruction, then work to it.
