Description
-Lanair XT250 Waste Oil Heater — Value Package 4
We are going to open this page with a caution rather than a feature, because it is the thing most likely to affect your order.
This package is noted on our listing as the wall-mount vent configuration. The chimney kit described with it is a roof kit — it contains roof flashing and a roof support bracket — and the older meta text on this page describes it as a thru-roof kit. Those are not the same installation, and they do not need the same parts. Rather than pick whichever reading makes the page tidier, we are telling you the sources disagree and asking you to confirm the venting configuration with us before you order. It takes one message, and it is the difference between an installation that goes ahead on the day and one that stops while somebody sources a wall thimble.
Why the distinction matters
A wall-mount vent takes the flue horizontally out through a sidewall and then up the exterior. It avoids cutting a roof, which is why buyers choose it — no flashing detail to maintain, no penetration in a membrane roof somebody else warranties. What it needs instead is a wall thimble, exterior support at intervals, and a termination clear of doors, windows and air intakes.
A roof-mount vent goes straight up through the deck. It draws better, it terminates above the building, and it needs flashing matched to your pitch, a storm collar and internal support. The kit listed with this package contains those roof parts.
Two different parts lists, one product page. Ask us which one is in the crate.
What the listed kit contains
As described, sized for a 16 ft eave: one chimney cap, one 24" Class A chimney pipe, one storm collar, one roof flashing for a 0/12-6/12 pitch, one 36" Class A chimney pipe, one finishing collar, one 14" slip connector, four 24" black pipe sections, one black tee pipe with cap, one roof support bracket and one 90 degree elbow.
A further note on the same theme: the meta text on this page also mentions a tank, and our product data for this package does not state one. If storage is part of what you expect in the box, confirm that too. The XT250 Package 3 listing is the one whose data does state a tank.
The heater
Underneath the packaging question is a straightforward machine. The XT250 is the second-largest unit in Lanair's XT line: 250,000 BTUH, a listed heating area of 8,500 square feet, and a fuel input of 1.79 GPH. It accepts used crankcase oil up to 50 weight, used synthetic oil, used automatic transmission fluid and used #1 and #2 fuel oil — the ordinary output of a service bay.
The cabinet is fine-grained galvanized and specified rust-resistant, which is the specification that decides how a heater ages in a damp building. The fan is mounted internally to keep noise down on the shop floor. Adjustable locking louvers aim the discharge and hold their setting through a season of vibration. The combustion chamber is 10-gauge cold-rolled steel, because a chamber that gets scraped clean every few weeks needs the material.
Will it fit?
The cabinet is 47" x 46" x 36" (length x width x height) and the hanging weight is 630 lbs. Suspended appliance, so the structure comes first: confirm your roof structure or wall steel carries the load and that the connection points are sound. That verification is the customer's responsibility.
Services are 120 V-60Hz, 20 Amps for power and 2 CFM of compressed air at 15-18 PSI for as long as the burner runs — continuous duty, so filter and dry that line and expect the compressor to work through the season. Venting is 8" Class A chimney and the heater allows the flue to leave at the top or the side, which is exactly why both a wall and a roof route are physically possible and why the paperwork needs settling before delivery.
Termination clearances — from doors, windows, intakes and property lines on a sidewall vent; above the roofline on a roof vent — come from your local mechanical code, along with any permit. Those checks are the buyer's and they are not optional.

On ducting, the same caveat as elsewhere in the range: this package lists No, while XT250 Packages 1 and 2 — the same heater — list Call. Do not plan ductwork off either answer without asking us first; the XTD models are the ones listed as ductable.
Perfect for
- Buildings with a membrane or warrantied roof — where a sidewall route is worth the extra confirmation, and this is the package to ask about.
- Leased premises — a landlord will often approve a wall penetration and refuse a roof one.
- Shops around 8,500 square feet — output matched to the building rather than bought on impulse.
- Any shop already paying for used-oil disposal — the fuel is on site and currently costs money to remove.
Certification, honestly
Lanair states its units are UL listed. That claim is on this product's current page and we relay it as the manufacturer's claim.
What it does not do is approve a venting arrangement. Sidewall terminations in particular attract local rules — distances from openings, from property lines, from mechanical intakes — and an insurer or fleet policy can add conditions on top. Verify with your authority having jurisdiction before ordering, and if you need current listing documentation, ask us and we will get it from Lanair.
Shipping
Freight to the lower 48 states, crated and palletised. The carrier brings it to your address; unloading is the customer's responsibility. A forklift or a dock makes it easy, and terminal pickup is available on every freight order if you have neither. A residential delivery carries a residential fee, applied at checkout.
Inspect before signing. Corners, wrap, banding, and the piece count. Anything wrong goes on the bill of lading with the driver present, plus photographs. A clean signed receipt is the carrier's evidence that the shipment was complete and undamaged.
Warranty
Terms are the manufacturer's, and the warranty document for this model is in the Downloads section on this page. One rule that applies to everything we sell: do not disassemble a part before you claim on it — a field-opened component is normally excluded from coverage. Photograph the fault as found and open the claim through our warranty claims page.
