LANAIR XT150 Waste Oil Heater Value Package 3

Please note: this package is configured for a roof-mount vent.

This is the combination in the XT range with the most generous ratio of storage to consumption: the smallest burner in the line, at a fuel input of 1.07 GPH, paired with a 215 gallon waste oil tank. Divide one into the other against your own operating hours and you get the number that actually governs day-to-day life with a waste oil heater — how often somebody has to go and deal with the tank. We are deliberately not printing a headline figure for that, because it depends entirely on how many hours a week you fire the burner, but the arithmetic is yours to do and on this pairing it comes out comfortably.

The package is completed by a through-the-roof 6" chimney kit sized for a 16' eave. The heater is rated at up to 150,000 BTUH across roughly 3,500 square feet.

Storage is what makes a waste oil system practical

The heater is the part people compare; the tank is the part that decides whether the system is pleasant to live with. Your shop produces used oil in bursts — a busy service week, then a quiet one — while the burner consumes at a steady rate whenever it runs. Storage absorbs the mismatch. Too little of it and you are either topping up by hand in the middle of a cold snap or leaving usable fuel in drums outside because there is nowhere to put it. A 215 gallon reservoir behind a 1.07 GPH burner means the collection side and the consumption side rarely have to be synchronised at all.

What goes in is broad: used crankcase oil up to 50 weight, conventional or synthetic, used automatic transmission fluid, and #1 and #2 fuel oil. A general repair shop does not have to sort its waste stream to feed this.

Venting through the roof

A vertical flue is the arrangement most installers prefer. Hot gas rises, so the chimney develops draft naturally and is less affected by wind around the building than a sidewall termination, and it leaves every wall in the shop free for benches, racking and doors. The cost is a roof penetration, and this kit carries the parts that turn that into a controlled detail — flashing rated for pitches from 0/12 to 6/12, a storm collar, a finishing collar, a roof support bracket to carry the chimney's weight, and a cap.

Two components are worth understanding before an installer arrives. The Class A sections are insulated pipe, rated to pass through building fabric. The black pipe is single-wall connector for the visible run inside the heated space. They are not interchangeable, and putting black pipe through a roof is a fire risk rather than a shortcut. The capped tee, meanwhile, is not a plain fitting — it is your cleaning access into the flue, and on an appliance burning used fluid you will use it.

Will It Fit?

  • Roof pitch and route. The flashing supplied covers 0/12 through 6/12. The flue also has to rise clear of trusses, services and anything on the deck above.
  • Eave height. The kit is specified for a 16' eave; a taller building needs additional pipe.
  • Cabinet and structure. 24" x 40.25" x 48" (L x W x H), suspended, hanging weight 413 lbs. Have the mounting point assessed by somebody qualified to sign it off.
  • Tank siting. The 215 gallon reservoir needs a level, accessible position with whatever containment your local rules require, and a route for the line to the heater.
  • Services. A dedicated 120V, 20 amp circuit, and compressed air at 2 CFM and 12-15 PSI available continuously while the burner fires.

Clearances to combustible material, the roof penetration detail, the structural assessment of the hanging point, oil containment and any permit or inspection required where you trade are the buyer's responsibility. We supply equipment and manufacturer documentation; the installation sign-off is between you, your installer and your inspector.

The cabinet you get with the smallest burner

The XT150 is the entry point of the range and it does not give up the hardware. The shell is fine-grained galvanized steel — a corrosion specification, chosen because these units hang in roof spaces full of humidity, road salt off vehicles and airborne solvent. The fan is internal rather than bolted on, which keeps running noise down. Adjustable locking louvers on the discharge let you aim the air across the working area and lock it, which in a single open bay does the job ducting would otherwise do. Behind the panels sits a 12 gauge cold-rolled steel combustion chamber with a hinged clean-out door and a side access panel onto the collector box, because ash and carbon are a fact of burning used oil and somebody has to remove them on a schedule.

Perfect For

  • Small and mid-size garages whose collected oil volume suits a 1.07 GPH burner.
  • Owner-occupied buildings with a conventional roof in the 0/12 to 6/12 range.
  • Shops that want to stop handling drums and move to a proper reservoir.
  • Open workshops of up to about 3,500 square feet heated as one space.

What's in the Box

  • Lanair XT150 waste oil heater
  • 215 gallon waste oil tank
  • Through-roof 6" chimney kit for a 16' eave: chimney cap; Class A chimney pipe, 24"; Class A chimney pipe, 36"; storm collar; roof flashing for 0/12 to 6/12 pitch; finishing collar; slip connector, 14"; four lengths of black pipe, 24"; black tee pipe with cap; roof support bracket; and a 90° elbow

Transfer pump and oil line runs are configured per site. If you want the list checked against your building before you order, get in touch — it is far cheaper than finding a missing collar on installation day.

Approvals and their scope

Lanair states that all of its units are UL listed. That is a real credential, and more than a good deal of workshop equipment carries. Its scope is the appliance, though, not your installation: flue routing, clearances to combustibles, combustion air and the storage of fuel oil are all matters for local mechanical and fire codes, and an inspector or an insurer can require things of an installation that no product listing addresses. Take the listing as the first document you will be asked for, not the whole file.

Shipping and Delivery

Freight to the lower 48 states, quoted live at checkout for your delivery address rather than fixed in this copy. This package travels as multiple pieces — heater, tank and vent components — so count them against the delivery paperwork while the driver is present rather than the next morning. Unloading is on the receiver: arrange a forklift and an operator, or take terminal pickup and collect with your own equipment. Residential delivery is available and carries an additional fee. Record any damage or shortage on the bill of lading at the point of signature.

Warranty

Covered by the manufacturer's warranty; the current terms and the claim process are published on our warranty claims page. Whatever the fault, open the claim before anything is taken apart. A stripped burner is very difficult for an assessor to judge, and doing that first is the usual reason a clear-cut claim turns slow. Photograph it as found, note the hour meter reading, and contact us before you begin.
