Katool KT-T850: a tilt-back arm, a 200 mm bead breaker, and a warranty with a number on it
The KT-T850 is a tilt-arm machine, and that single word is the whole reason to choose it. The column carrying the mounting head pivots backwards away from the turntable instead of swinging sideways across it. Tilting back clears the entire working area in one movement, so a technician loading a heavy truck wheel is not manoeuvring it past a fixed post, and the head returns to exactly the same position every time rather than being swung back to roughly where it was.
The rest of the specification follows the same intent. It takes wheels up to 47 in (1,200 mm) in diameter, breaks beads with a 200 mm aluminium cylinder, runs a 2.0 HP motor on ordinary 110V single-phase shop power, and — unusually for this category — arrives with a stated warranty term rather than a vague assurance: one year on all product parts.
Tilt-back or swing-arm: what changes at the machine
Both layouts get the mounting head over the rim. The difference is what happens between wheels.
A swing arm sweeps horizontally, which means the arm occupies part of the space in front of the turntable when it is out of the way. A tilt-back arm folds rearward, leaving the front of the machine open. Over a day of tyre work that is dozens of loads and unloads, each one slightly less awkward, and on a heavy light-truck wheel that a technician is walking rather than carrying, less awkward is directly less back strain. The tilt design also holds its geometry: because the head returns along a fixed pivot, the clearance setting you dialled in for a particular rim comes back the same, instead of needing a nudge.
A 200 mm cylinder, and 47 in of wheel
Two numbers set the working envelope. The bead breaker cylinder is 200 mm and aluminium — a large bore applying steady force through the blade, which is how a stubborn bead is separated without the shock loading that damages a rim edge. And the machine accepts a wheel up to 47 in in diameter and 15 in (380 mm) wide, which covers passenger cars, SUVs, light trucks and most of the oversized fitments those vehicles are sold on now.
Clamping is a wheel-clamp turntable: outside clamping runs from 14 in to 26 in, inside clamping from 16 in to 28 in. Read those two ranges together, because they are how you check a specific rim. A wide alloy that will not sit in the outside range clamps from the inside instead, and the machine covers a great deal of ground before it runs out of either.
Rim protection, part by part
The clamping jaws are alloy steel with a carburised case up to 1.1 mm deep and a full quench behind it — hard where the jaw grips, tough where it is loaded — and they carry covers so nothing steel ever meets the rim. The mounting head is stainless, solution-treated, polished and shaped to engineering-mechanics principles, with a plastic protector over it. A high-quality spade cover guards the lever's contact point during demounting. None of these parts is expensive and every one of them exists to stop a technician explaining a mark on somebody's wheel.
Supporting all of it: double-sided assist arms for stiff and low-profile tyres, a bead blast seater for the seating pop on a tyre that will not take air, a pedal-controlled inflation gauge, a pull-type pedal control system, and a filtered, lubricated air feed that keeps water and grit out of the pneumatics.
Power, air and floor: what the bay has to provide

Power. 110V, single phase, driving the 2.0 HP motor with pure copper windings — the specification Katool builds for North America. A 220V option exists, so confirm which one you want before the order goes in, not after the machine lands.

Warranty: a term, not a promise
Katool states a one-year warranty on all product parts for this machine, and there is a published warranty document behind it that we will send you on request before you buy. That is worth pointing out because plenty of equipment in this price bracket is sold with nothing more specific than "backed by the manufacturer". A stated period covering all parts is something you can plan around and, if it comes to it, hold somebody to.
One condition applies to any claim, here as anywhere: leave the failed part alone until the claim is open. A pneumatic valve, cylinder or control assembly that has been taken apart is treated as modified, and that turns a replacement into an argument. Photograph the fault, note the serial number and call us before the spanners come out.
Certification, stated plainly
Katool's published data for the KT-T850 does not name a third-party certification or listing, and we will not imply one it does not claim. For tyre-service equipment this is a smaller question than it is for a vehicle lift, where somebody stands under a raised load — but it is not always a non-question. Some commercial insurers and some workplace policies ask for documentation covering shop machinery in general. Shipping and delivery
The KT-T850 ships as freight within the lower 48 states, priced live at checkout against the address you enter. Freight delivery puts a crated 340 kg machine on the tail of a trailer and the receiver takes it from there — that is how freight works, and it catches people out. If a forklift is not available at your address, take terminal pickup: the carrier's depot has the equipment and will load your trailer. Residential delivery carries a residential fee, which is applied at checkout when you select it.
Inspect before signing, every time. Look for crushed corners, cut banding, a machine that has shifted on its pallet, and any damage to the tower or the pedals. Write what you see on the bill of lading with the driver present and take photographs. Once a clean receipt is signed, the shipment is officially undamaged and the argument is a great deal harder.
