The detail that separates the KT-90E from the crowd of dent-puller kits is that it carries two welding guns at once. One stays set up for pulling, the other for welding, and the operator switches function instead of switching tooling. Anyone who has spent a morning swapping a gun over between every stage of a panel repair knows what that is worth: it is not a headline feature, it is minutes off every dent.

The second thing worth knowing is how it stays cool. There is no fan. Heat leaves through vents in the side of the case, backed by an automatic overheat cut-out, which means there is no fan motor to seize and no fan intake pulling body-shop dust and grinding grit through the electronics. In a panel shop that is a longevity argument, not a convenience one.

What it is for

This is a stud-and-spot machine for steel bodywork: pulling dents, working creases and handling the everyday metal deformation that comes through a body shop or a restoration bench. It welds from one side, so panels that cannot be reached from behind — quarter panels, sills, box sections, doors with the trim still in — are workable without cutting access holes.

The manufacturer quotes a single-sided welding thickness of 0.6+1.2 mm and makes a specific claim about what that gives you: small weld traces with relatively high strength, and no damage to the coating or paint on the back of the panel. That last part is the one that decides whether a repair is finished when the panel is straight, or whether it is finished after somebody has re-protected the inside of a box section you cannot see into.

Seven modes, and why a digital panel matters

There are seven welding modes with adjustable power levels, and the mode and power in use are shown on a digital panel rather than inferred from a click-stop dial. Switching between automatic and manual is done at any point in the job. The practical value is repeatability: when a setting works on a panel, you can read what it was, write it down, and return to it next week on the same model of car. Guessing at an unmarked dial is how a technician ends up with burn-through on a thin outer skin and a cold weld on a heavier one.

Built to be carried

The machine weighs 24.4 kg (53.8 lbs) and measures 12.5 in by 8 in by 10 in — a case rather than a cabinet, with a handle on it. That size decides where it can work: on a bench, on the floor next to the car, on a trolley, or in the back of a van for mobile repair. The accessories are supplied in a toolbox, which sounds like packaging until the first time a stud tip goes missing on a shop floor.

The body is stainless steel and the internal conductor is described as thick pure copper wire. Copper section is what keeps a resistance welder's output stable as it heats — thin conductors sag under load, and the symptom of that is welds that were fine at nine in the morning and inconsistent by four in the afternoon.

• Electrical supply. We do not publish the supply requirement for this model in our own data, and we are not going to guess at it in a product description. Ask us before you order and we will confirm it against the manual — a welder plugged into the wrong supply is not a small mistake.
• Material. This is a machine for steel bodywork. If your work is predominantly aluminium, this is not the right tool and no setting on it will make it one.
• Working space. The unit itself is small, but you need room to work the gun and the slide hammer around the panel. Plan for the operator, not for the box.
• Consumables. Stud welding consumes studs, tips and electrodes. Budget for them as running costs from the start.

Orders go to the lower 48, priced live at checkout for your address so nothing is quoted from a stale table, and warehouse collection is available as an alternative. Unpack and inspect on arrival: welding equipment travels with heavy accessories that can move inside a carton, so look for impact marks, loose contents and damaged leads, and write anything you find onto the delivery paperwork while the driver is still there. Photographs taken at that point are what makes a damage claim straightforward.

Warranty

Katool publishes a warranty document covering this equipment and we will send you the current version on request. If the machine develops a fault, open the claim before you open the case. A unit that has already been taken apart is normally treated as modified, and that is the single most common way a valid claim gets refused. Record the symptoms, keep the packaging, and call us first.
