Description
-Hofmann GEOLINER 609 Imaging Wheel Aligner
Hofmann geoliner 609: alignment for a shop that does not have an alignment lift
The reason most workshops do not offer alignment is not the aligner. It is everything the aligner assumes: a dedicated bay, an alignment rack, a console taking up floor space, and an installation that has to be scheduled. The geoliner 609 is the compact, economical member of the imaging family, and it removes those assumptions one at a time.
The most important of them is the elevated two-wheel compensation mode. It exists specifically for customers with limited space, with no alignment lift at all, or with vehicles too large for the lift they do have. That single capability decides whether alignment is a service you can sell, and it is a far more consequential feature than any camera specification.
There is also no console. The aligner is driven from a tablet, from anywhere in the shop, which means the machine occupies the space it physically takes up and nothing more. When the day is done, the camera beam rotates to a smaller storage footprint and gets out of the way.
Will it fit, and what will it measure?
The demands on the building are as small as this class of machine gets. The supply is ordinary single-phase and the vehicle envelope is set out below.
- Power supply: 115 VAC 1Ph 50/60 Hz.
- Track width measured: 48-96" (1,219-2,438mm).
- Wheel base measured: 79-180" (2,006-4,572mm).
- Wheel size, AC200 clamps: 12-24" (305-610mm).
Two practical points beyond the table. First, the specification we hold does not publish a footprint, a machine weight or a ceiling requirement for this listing, so the storage position, the working space and the route in are yours to measure. Second, the clamp range above is quoted for the AC200 clamps; if you need a different clamp set for the wheels you handle, ask us before you order so that the machine arrives able to do the work.
Ready to install, rather than ready to schedule
The 609 ships pre-assembled and is designed to be installed with minimal work, which changes the purchase from a project into a delivery. The camera beam is moved by a robust mechanical winch rather than a powered system — fewer parts, less to service, and precise positioning that does not depend on a motor drive staying in adjustment. The extended camera beam is what gives the machine its lift compatibility: it can see the targets across a wider range of setups than a shorter beam allows, which is precisely why it works in shops that were not built around an alignment lane.
The software is the full version, not a cut-down one
This is where a compact machine usually disappoints, and here it does not. The predictive alignment flow and the automatic error detection system are the same ideas used across the imaging range: the software leads the technician to the next step rather than waiting to be told, and the system watches for the conditions that produce a bad result instead of reporting numbers without comment.
Video-speed imaging makes roll-back compensation fast, which matters more on a machine that may be used on stands or on a general-purpose lift, where every extra minute of setup is felt. And the patented VODI indicator guides the measuring process from where the technician is standing, so the job is not a series of trips back to check what the software wants next.
Connected, so the specifications are current
Software and vehicle specifications update over the network, which on an alignment machine is not a convenience feature: an out-of-date specification database produces alignments that are precisely wrong. Alongside that, the aligner provides access to vehicle specifications and repair information, technical service bulletins, recall information, tire pressure monitoring data and driver assistance system information, and reports can be printed through cloud services. For a general workshop, having that reference material inside the alignment tool saves looking for it somewhere else.
Perfect For
- General repair shops adding alignment without building an alignment bay, using the elevated two-wheel compensation mode.
- Small workshops where floor space is the scarce resource and a console is not affordable in square feet.
- Shops with a standard lift rather than an alignment rack, or with vehicles too large for the rack they have.
- Owners who want a short installation, given the pre-assembled, ready-to-install design.
What is included
The machine is described as pre-assembled and ready to install, with the extended camera beam and mechanical winch as part of it, and it is driven from a tablet rather than a console. Our data does not carry a packing list for this configuration, so confirm the clamp set, the targets and the tablet arrangement with us in writing when you order — particularly if you are replacing an existing aligner and expect to reuse any of its accessories.

Certification and compliance, stated honestly
The product data we hold for this aligner does not list a third-party safety certification, and we are not going to imply one. That is a statement about our records rather than a claim about the machine: a manufacturer's own declaration of conformity is a different document from an independent listing issued by a testing body, and only the second is what an insurer, a dealership programme or a local inspector normally asks to see.
If your work is tied to a manufacturer's certified alignment programme, or your insurer specifies listed equipment, ask us before ordering and we will chase the documentation from the manufacturer rather than guess at it. Electrical installation is a separate question again, and it is governed by your local code and your electrician, not by us.
Delivery, installation and site access
This machine ships as freight, not as a parcel, and it travels crated on a pallet. Delivery, setup and instruction arrangements for Hofmann equipment are set out in the Pick Up and Delivery section further down this page, and warehouse collection is offered on much of this range — tell us at the time of order which you want, because the two are booked differently. Shipping is to addresses in the contiguous United States.
Three things are the buyer's responsibility whichever route you choose. Measure the path from the delivery point to the working position, including door widths and any turn a crated machine has to make. If the delivery address is a home rather than a commercial address, say so before you order — residential delivery is arranged differently and a residential fee applies. And inspect the crate before you sign: note any damage, crushed corner or shifted strapping on the delivery receipt at the moment of delivery, and photograph it. A signed clean receipt makes a damage claim very difficult to pursue afterwards, and that is the single most common way a buyer ends up out of pocket on freight equipment.
Warranty
Warranty terms for this machine are published on our warranty claims page rather than quoted here, so that what you read is the current policy rather than a figure copied into a description and left to go stale. One practical warning that applies to every powered machine we sell: if something fails, contact us before disassembling the unit or attempting an internal repair. Stripping an assembly down before the claim is raised routinely voids the cover, and it also destroys the evidence the manufacturer needs to see.
