A 60-inch chuck is what puts this machine in a different category
The number that decides whether the Corghi HD1800 Hydrus is the right machine for your shop is not its lifting capacity and not its torque. It is the chuck. This turntable clamps rims from 14" (355 mm) all the way out to 60" (1,524 mm), and it will take a wheel 118" across. Truck-tire machines generally stop clamping in the mid-fifties. A 60" clamping capacity is earthmover and large agricultural territory - the wheels that arrive on a trailer rather than on a vehicle.
If your work is buses, highway trucks and trailers, a smaller machine will do it and cost less. If wheels off scrapers, loaders, combines and quarry equipment come through the door and currently go out again unserviced, that is the gap the HD1800 Hydrus fills.
Will It Fit?
This is a hydraulic machine that services wheels weighing more than most cars, so the questions are floor, power and access. Confirming all of them is the buyer's responsibility before the machine ships, and they are much cheaper to answer now than on delivery day.

Power supply. 208-230V, 3 phase, 50/60 Hz. The hydraulic power unit motor is rated 4.8 kW. Three-phase service is not optional here and it is not something to discover after the crate is open - if the building does not have it, that is an electrician's job to price before you order.

Floor. The machine itself weighs 4,365 lbs (1,980 kg) before you put a wheel on it, and the wheels it is rated for add up to 6,613 lbs (3,000 kg) more. Slab thickness and condition are worth a look, and anchoring should follow the manufacturer's manual rather than shop habit.

Working envelope. Wheels up to 118" (3,300 mm) in diameter and 71" (1,800 mm) wide. Leave room around that envelope for the wheel to be manoeuvred in and out, not just to sit.

Getting it in. A machine of this weight is a rigging job. Measure the route from the delivery point, including door heights and any turn, before freight is booked.

Hydraulics doing the work, not the technician
Every movement on this machine that carries load is hydraulic. The power unit drives both the carriage and the turntable, so positioning a wheel is a control input rather than a shove. That distinction is the entire ergonomic argument for a machine in this class: when the item being handled weighs a few thousand pounds, the difference between hydraulic assistance and manual effort is not comfort, it is whether the job is safe to do at all and whether the technician is still capable of doing it at the end of a shift.
The gear motor gives three rotation speeds, running up to 10 rpm, with maximum torque delivery of 5,500 Nm. Three speeds exist because tires differ: a stubborn bead on a stiff sidewall wants slow and deliberate, a straightforward mount wants pace. A single-speed machine forces one compromise on every job.
Bead breaking, and protecting what is underneath
The hydraulic bead-breaking system applies up to 45,000 N of separation force in a controlled way. The controlled part matters more than the number. High force applied suddenly is how rims get gouged and sidewalls get cut; high force applied progressively through a hydraulic circuit is how a tightly seated bead comes off a rim that is still fit to go back into service. On wheels that are individually expensive to replace, that is not a refinement, it is the point.
Optional special clamps with plastic inserts are available for alloy rims, which extends the same machine from heavy steel wheels to wheels where any contact mark is a warranty conversation.
Safety built into the carriage, not bolted on afterwards
The heavy-duty carriage translates left and right hydraulically for precise positioning during mounting and demounting, and an integrated safety lock prevents accidental movement. The reason to call that out separately is that unintended movement is the specific hazard in heavy-duty tire work: a wheel that shifts while a technician is reaching into it is the incident that ends careers. A lock that engages as part of normal operation, rather than a procedure someone has to remember, is a design decision about people rather than a feature.
The control console is arranged so that all hydraulic functions are reachable from one position, which keeps the operator out of the wheel's path while the machine is doing the moving.

Certification, stated honestly

Shipping and delivery
This machine ships freight to the lower 48 states, and the cost is quoted live at checkout for your actual address rather than estimated in advance. You must be able to unload it, or arrange to collect from the carrier's terminal - a driver arrives with the machine, not with the equipment to take it off the truck. A residential delivery carries a residential fee where one applies. Inspect the crate before you sign and write any damage on the bill of lading at the moment of handover. Once a clean bill of lading is signed, damage becomes very difficult to claim, and on a machine of this value that is not a risk worth taking to save five minutes.
