Description
-A bead breaker shovel that moves up to meet the wheel
The Corghi A2030 is an electric tilt-back rim-clamp tire changer for shops working at the large end of passenger and light-truck wheels. Corghi's own designation for the machine is the 2030 HP. The design detail worth buying it for is the bead breaker: the shovel is adjustable in height, so it can be raised to sit on the centreline of a large-diameter wheel rather than striking it wherever a fixed arm happens to land.
This is a real problem, not a brochure feature. A bead breaker shovel is designed to push straight in on the bead. On a fixed-height arm it does that correctly for one wheel diameter, and on everything larger it arrives low — catching the sidewall at an angle, loading the rim edge, and needing more force to do a worse job. As average rim diameters have climbed, that mismatch has got steadily worse on machines that cannot adjust. Raising the shovel to the wheel's centreline restores the straight-in push at any diameter in the machine's range.
Capacity, and how to extend it
The A2030 handles wheels up to 26" as supplied. Optional jaw adapters are available that take it up to a 30" wheel — worth knowing at the point of purchase, because it means a shop that occasionally sees oversized rims does not need a second machine, just a set of adapters.
The adapters are an option, not part of the machine. They are not included in this listing. If you want the extended range from day one, tell us and we will quote them alongside the changer so there is no surprise when the crate is opened.
The maximum tire diameter the machine will take is 43" (1092 mm), with a maximum tire width of 14" (356 mm). External rim clamping runs 10" to 26" (660 mm).
Confirm the internal clamping range before you order. Published figures for it differ — the specification table on this page carries one range, and a separate manufacturer record carries a range one inch different at each end. If your work depends on the exact internal clamping limits, ask us before ordering and we will get them confirmed by the manufacturer in writing.
Tilt-back, and what that means for your bay
The column tilts back pneumatically to clear the wheel rather than swinging to the side. For siting, that means the machine wants clearance behind it and can live closer to a side wall than a swing-arm changer. Height above the ground at the turntable is 26.57" (675 mm), which is the figure that decides how far a heavy wheel has to be lifted to get it onto the table — a genuinely useful number if manual handling is a concern in your shop.
The machine weighs 571 lbs. It needs a level, sound floor, shop air at 145 psi operating pressure, and a 115V single-phase (1ph) electrical supply. Pneumatic tilting and pneumatic head clamping both depend on that air supply, so a marginal compressor will show up as sluggish operation rather than as an obvious fault.
The slab, the electrical circuit, the compressed-air feed and siting are the customer's responsibility. Measure your bay and check your supply before ordering; we will happily look over a floor plan with you, but the measurements need to come from your side.
The drive: torque where it matters, speed where it does not
The DV version delivers a rotation torque of 958.83 lb-ft at a rotation speed of up to 15 rpm. Those two figures belong together. A tire changer is a low-speed, high-torque machine by design — what breaks a stubborn bead loose is sustained twist, not table speed, and a turntable that spins quickly under a stiff tire is harder to control and more likely to mark a rim.
The bead breaker uses an adjustable arm with an extending shoe on a telescopic support, with a maximum opening of 14.9" (378 mm). The extending shoe is the companion to the height adjustment: between them the shoe can be placed where the bead actually is, across the range of wheels the machine accepts.
Perfect for
- Tire stores and independent shops whose everyday work has grown into larger-diameter alloy wheels.
- Light-truck and SUV specialists — the wheels where a fixed-height bead breaker struggles most.
- Shops that occasionally exceed 26" and would rather add jaw adapters than buy a second changer.
- Dealership service departments handling wheels they are accountable for the condition of.
The A2030 is offered with an electric motor only. If your bay has abundant air and no convenient circuit, an air-motor machine is the better fit.
What's in the box
From the manufacturer's current feature list for this model: the machine as described, with its electric motor, pneumatic tilting column, pneumatic head clamping and the built-in adjustable bead breaker shovel. The jaw adapters that extend the range to 30" are explicitly optional and are not included. We have listed nothing beyond that — wheel protectors, adaptor kits and inflation equipment are not itemised in the data we hold, so ask us to put the supplied kit in writing before you order.

Certification and compliance, stated honestly
We do not publish an independent North American safety listing for this tire changer, and we are not going to gesture at one with loose compliance wording. If an insurer, a corporate policy, a local jurisdiction or a customer contract requires your equipment to carry a specific third-party listing or meet a named standard, resolve it before you buy rather than after the machine is installed. Send us the exact requirement and we will ask the manufacturer for documentation in writing — and tell you plainly if it cannot be produced.
Shipping and delivery
The A2030 ships by freight within the contiguous United States. Freight is quoted live at checkout against your delivery address, so the number you see is current rather than a stale estimate typed into a description.
Be ready to unload, or take delivery at the carrier's terminal instead. A crated tire changer at this weight will not be lifted off the truck by the driver, so you need a forklift of adequate capacity on site or a terminal pickup arranged. Delivery to a residential address is available and carries a residential fee.
Inspect it before you sign. Look the crate over for fork punctures, crushed corners, cut banding and any sign the load has moved in transit; photograph anything doubtful and write it on the bill of lading with the driver standing there. After a clean signature, a damage claim is a hard argument to win.
Warranty
This machine carries the manufacturer's warranty. We have not printed a term length in the description — a number transcribed onto a page is exactly the kind of thing that quietly goes out of date. The current process is on our warranty claims page, and we will confirm the coverage that applies to your order in writing before you buy if you ask.
Do not dismantle the machine before making a claim. Stripping the tilting column, the pneumatic circuit or the drive to find the fault yourself is the most dependable way to have a good claim refused. Contact us with the serial number and a description of the symptom and let us open the claim for you.
Get in touch to have the internal clamping range confirmed, to add the jaw adapters to your order, or to check the machine against your bay.
