Compressing air heats it, and hot air holds moisture that condenses the moment it cools down again — which it does in your tank, your pipework, and eventually your tools and your paintwork. An aftercooler drops the discharge temperature before the air reaches the receiver, so a large share of that water falls out where the drain can deal with it rather than travelling downstream. On a machine expected to work rather than to sit, it is a genuine quality-of-air feature, not a brochure line.

The pump is enclosed by a fully enclosed motor and high flow belt guard: enclosed so hands and sleeves stay out, high flow so the pump still gets the cooling air it needs. Control is a start-stop pressure switch. It is built in the USA.

• The description says the unit provides 15 CFM at maximum pressure.
• The specification block lists 16.1 CFM at 100 PSI, and a lower figure again at maximum pressure.
• Maximum pressure itself is given two ways: the specification block says 165 PSI; a separate spec field on the same listing says 175 PSI.

Some of that is explainable — delivered air always falls as pressure rises, so a figure at 100 PSI and a figure at maximum pressure should differ. The maximum pressure disagreement is not explainable from what we hold, and it is the one that changes what the machine is.
