Description
-Champion HR10D-24ADV — 10 HP Duplex, Two-Stage, Horizontal Tank
The ADV on the end of the model number stands for Advantage, and on this range it is not decoration — it describes how the machine is sold. An Advantage Series package arrives with up to six options already installed at the factory: magnetic starter, automatic tank drain, vibration isolator pads, low oil level monitor, air-cooled aftercooler and duplex control panel. Those are precisely the items that otherwise get quoted separately, fitted by an electrician on site, and argued about when something does not work.
That is the buying argument in one line. A compressor that is fully equipped when it lands is cheaper to install than a bare one plus a shopping list, and it comes with the quick-ship programme behind it, so the lead time is measured against a machine that is already built rather than one waiting to be configured.
The aftercooler is the option most people forget
Of the six, the air-cooled aftercooler is the one worth singling out, because it is the item that quietly decides what your compressed air is like to use. Air leaves a two-stage pump hot, and hot air holds water. Send it straight to the tank and the moisture condenses further down the line — in your hoses, your tools, your spray gun and your controls. An aftercooler drops the temperature before the tank so the majority of that water falls out where there is a drain to catch it.
Shops that skip it usually discover the problem in the summer and fit an aftercooler in the end anyway. Having it standard is a better starting point than having it on an options list.
The automatic tank drain belongs in the same conversation. Manual draining is a job that gets done conscientiously for a month and then forgotten, and water sitting in the bottom of a receiver is how tanks corrode from the inside. Automating it removes a human from a task humans reliably skip.
Two-stage, splash lubricated, and duplex
This is a two-stage reciprocating machine, splash lubricated — a piston compressor of the traditional kind, built to reach a high working pressure by compressing twice with cooling in between rather than asking one cylinder to do everything. Maximum pressure is up to 175 psig, and reaching that comfortably is what two stages are for.
The duplex configuration puts two pumps and two motors on one tank, at 10 HP each, run through a duplex control panel. On light demand one pump handles the load; on heavy demand both run; and when one is down for service the shop still has air. Across the wider Advantage range the series spans 5 - 25 hp in simplex and duplex, vertical and horizontal tank configurations, so this is one point on a fairly broad line — if the sizing is not quite right, there is very likely a neighbouring model that is.
Everything ships factory filled with ChampLub lubricant, so commissioning does not start with a trip to find the right oil.
Three years on the pump, and what that signals
Each new assembled Champion duplex compressor carries a 3-year warranty on the compressor pump, with a 1-year warranty on the package. That split is worth reading properly rather than skimming: the pump — the part that does the work and the part that is expensive to replace — is covered for three times as long as the assembled package around it.
Manufacturers do not offer a long pump warranty on a pump they expect to see back. On a two-stage splash-lubricated machine the pump is the component whose life determines the life of the whole installation, so a three-year term on it is a more informative number than most of the specifications on this page.
Will it fit your shop?
Plan for a large, heavy machine. The package is 88 in. long on a horizontal tank and weighs 2,325 lbs, so it needs a solid flat floor, a delivery route that can carry that weight, and clearance around it for cooling airflow and service access. Two pumps generate roughly twice the heat of one — ventilation in the compressor room is not optional.
Electrically it is a three-phase machine at 230 V, 60 Hz. Do not size the supply from this page: have a certified electrician specify the circuit and the protection, because a duplex starts two motors and the inrush is not simply double a single-machine calculation. The tank outlet is 3/4 in. NPT. Confirming power, floor loading, ventilation, clearance and the delivery route is the customer's responsibility, and we are glad to work through it before you order rather than after.
Three things to confirm before you order
Published figures for this package differ in three places. None of them changes what the machine is, but each is worth a minute if it decides your purchase.
- Air delivery. A catalogue field on this product lists 90 CFM. That is the top of the series range — the Advantage line is published at 16.5 - 90.1 acfm at 175 psig across all its models — rather than a figure for this particular build, whose own specification line gives a materially lower delivery at 175 psig. That is why no headline delivery number appears in this description. If output is what you are sizing against, confirm the figure for the HR10D-24ADV with us in writing before ordering — we will get it straight from Champion.
- Tank capacity. The published tank size carries no unit alongside it, so this page does not state one. It is a horizontal receiver sized for a duplex package of this output; ask and we will confirm the capacity from the manufacturer's drawing rather than infer it.
- Model number. The title and the packaging read HR10D-24ADV; the specification list gives the model as HR10D-24, without the Advantage suffix. Almost certainly the same machine described with and without its package designation — but if you are raising a purchase order against a specific part number, confirm which one your paperwork needs before ordering.
Perfect For
- Busy automotive and body shops that need real working pressure and cannot afford the day a single compressor takes out when it fails.
- Fabrication and welding shops, where plasma and air tools want pressure and volume together, and where the aftercooler earns its place keeping water out of the line.
- Anyone specifying a new compressor room from scratch. A package with the starter, drain, isolators, monitor, aftercooler and control panel already fitted collapses a long install into a much shorter one.

Standards and approvals
The data we hold for this compressor states no third-party listing or conformity marking, so this page does not badge one. That is not proof that none exists — documentation for equipment of this size usually sits with the manufacturer rather than in a catalogue record. If an insurer, an authority having jurisdiction, or an in-house engineering standard requires specific paperwork before a receiver of this size is installed, raise it with us before ordering and we will request what exists.
Shipping and delivery
Ships freight to the lower 48 states. At 2,325 lbs this is forklift or dock territory — plan the unload before the truck is booked, or elect to collect from the carrier terminal instead. Residential delivery carries a fee. Freight is quoted live at checkout against your own address rather than printed here, because carrier pricing changes.
Inspect before you sign. Check the receiver, the pumps, the aftercooler and the control panel for handling damage, and write anything you find on the bill of lading at the point of delivery — after a clean signature a freight claim becomes very hard to pursue.
Warranty
The compressor pump carries a 3-year warranty and the package carries a 1-year warranty. Keep the commissioning and service records, because oil and filter history is the first thing asked for on any compressor claim, and use the specified lubricant rather than a cheaper substitute. If a fault develops, report it before anyone opens the pump: a unit that has already been dismantled cannot be assessed, and disassembly ahead of a claim is the most common reason a claim that should have been paid is refused.
