CEMB ER72TD: the full measuring stack, without an air line
There are two ways to lock a wheel onto a balancer, and the choice is usually presented as a budget decision. It is really a siting decision. This is the manual-clamping build of the ER72 platform: standard locking with a quick nut, and a power requirement of 220 V, single phase, with no compressed air in it at all. Put the machine wherever there is a circuit — the far corner, the second bay, the unit next door — and it works.
What it does not give up is the measuring. The automatic arm, the width sonar, the Spotter laser system, the full-time static display and the electromagnetic brake are all here. The clamp is manual; nothing else is.
Who should choose manual clamping on purpose
Compressed air in a tire shop is a contested resource. The changer wants it, the inflation station wants it, and the air tools want it, and the compressor was usually sized before anyone added the third of those. A balancer that does not draw on the system removes one demand from it — and removes the possibility that a marginal supply makes the clamp slow or inconsistent at the busiest hour of the day.
There is a second, less obvious case. A shop that wants a balancer somewhere the air does not reach can put this one there without running new pipe. For a second machine, a satellite bay, or a workshop where plumbing the air is a bigger job than the balancer is worth, that is the whole argument.
The quick nut
Standard locking is by quick nut, which is not the same as threading a conventional nut down the full length of a shaft. It engages and releases quickly, and the operator retains direct feel for how the cone is seating — which some experienced technicians genuinely prefer, because a cone that is not seating cleanly on a damaged centre bore is something you notice by hand before you notice it on a screen.
The trade is honest and worth stating: the clamping is only as consistent as the person doing it, and on a very high-volume day the powered alternative saves time on every wheel. If your shop is running wheels continuously, buy the pneumatic build. If it is not, this machine gives you the same measurements with one fewer service to plumb.
What the machine measures for you
The single largest source of check-spin errors is not the balancer — it is a dimension typed in wrongly. The automatic arm handles distance and diameter, taking rim diameters up to 30" without a keypad entry, and width is captured by sonar in three dimensions. Static imbalance is displayed on screen full-time rather than hidden behind a mode, so the value that best predicts what the customer will feel is always visible.
Placing the weight where the machine said
The fully automatic Spotter laser system marks the exact position for a stick-on weight inside the rim during correction. The electromagnetic brake holds the wheel at the precise angular position of the imbalance while that happens, so the wheel cannot creep as the technician reaches in, and an LED lights the working area inside the rim. Those three features exist to close one gap: a correct calculation undone by an approximate placement. That gap is the most common reason a wheel needs a second spin, and closing it is worth more per day than any headline specification.
One Plane Balancing and AutoAdaptive Mode
One Plane Balancing determines whether a single counterweight can cancel static and dynamic imbalance together, and where inside the rim it must go. The machine decides for itself whether the wheel qualifies and enables the program at the end of the spin, so it is not a mode anyone has to remember. Fewer weights means less adhesive, less inventory and fewer opportunities for a weight to come adrift later.
AutoAdaptive Mode replaces a fixed pass threshold with a calculated one. It detects each wheel's weight and dimensions and derives the residual imbalance limit corresponding to a vibration the driver will not perceive — because a heavy steel wheel and a light alloy do not transmit the same residual into the steering, and treating them the same wastes time on one and lets the other through.
Will it fit your shop?
Power is 220 V, single phase. That is the only service the machine needs, which is the point of choosing this build. Confirm the circuit is within reach of where the machine will actually stand before delivery; providing it, and having a licensed electrician connect it to local code, is the customer's responsibility.
It arrives fully assembled at a shipping weight of 300 lbs (136 kg), so there is nothing to build. Check the route from the delivery point to the bay, and leave enough clear floor in front of the machine to lift a wheel of up to 165 lbs (75 kg) onto the spindle without twisting to do it.

Certification, stated plainly
The manufacturer's data for this balancer states where it is built and that it is assembled and tested in the United States. What it does not include is a third-party North American safety listing, and we will not imply one by writing around the subject — a manufacturer's own declaration is a different document from an independent listing.
That matters when a third party writes the rules. Some equipment insurers, fleet policies and local inspection regimes ask for a named independent listing. If any of those apply to you, tell us before you order and we will confirm what documentation ships in the crate.
Shipping and delivery
Delivery is by freight carrier to the contiguous United States. We quote the freight live at checkout from your ZIP code instead of printing a price here, because rates move and a stale number becomes an argument. If the address is residential, a residential fee applies and the checkout will show it.
Plan the receiving end in advance. The crate comes off the trailer by forklift or at a dock and the driver is not equipped to do it for you; where that is a problem we can route the shipment to the carrier's local terminal. Inspect before you sign: damage noted on the bill of lading at delivery is a claim, damage found afterwards usually is not.
