Description
-Bludee AC400Dual: two refrigerants, one machine, one floor tile
Every workshop doing air-conditioning work is living through the same transition. The older half of the customer base is on R134A. The newer half is on R1234YF. The usual answer is two machines, which means two purchases, two cylinders, two service intervals and two cabinets taking up bay space that was not spare to begin with.
The AC400Dual is the other answer. One machine recovers, recycles, evacuates and recharges both refrigerants, and switches from one to the other quickly rather than being reconfigured for the afternoon. For a shop whose vehicle mix is genuinely split, that is a capital and a floor-space argument at the same time.
What "dual" has to mean to be worth having
A dual machine is only useful if switching gases is a routine operation instead of a project. Bludee's claim for this unit is precisely that: it handles two refrigerants and moves between them quickly. The practical test in your shop is whether a technician will actually do it — if changing over takes twenty minutes, the machine will end up living on whichever gas it was last set to, and you will have bought a single-gas machine at a dual-gas price.
So ask that question directly rather than taking a brochure's word for it. Ask us and we will get you Bludee's changeover procedure before you order, so you can judge it against how your bay actually runs. It is the single most important thing to understand about this class of machine and it is the thing brochures are vaguest about.
The one thing this model does not have
It does not carry a refrigerant identifier. That is not a criticism — it is the difference between this model and the AC400Di, which is the identifier version and is priced accordingly.
It matters more on a dual machine than on a single-gas one, and it is worth being clear about why. A dual machine's whole value is that it touches both refrigerants, which also makes it the machine most exposed to a vehicle arriving with the wrong gas in it. If the cars you see come from known histories, that exposure is manageable with a separate handheld identifier and a habit of using it. If unknown vehicles walk in off the street, look hard at the identifier version before deciding.
Automation that runs without a technician standing there
The sequence is the point. Recovery, recycling, vacuum and recharge run one after another from a single instruction, and the interruptions are engineered out: the machine refills its own internal tank instead of stopping mid-service, purges air automatically so non-condensable gas cannot accumulate in the storage cylinder and quietly wreck charge accuracy, and drains used oil and injects new oil so what came out is measured rather than guessed at.
A vacuum leak test finds gross leaks before an expensive charge is committed to a system. Onboard electronic scales weigh the charge, a built-in thermal printer produces the customer record, and a comprehensive capacity database supplies the correct quantity for passenger vehicles instead of relying on someone's memory. Tank filling can be run manually or to a preset value when you want to override the automation.
Space, power and the crate
Input power is 110V at 60 Hz — a standard single-phase outlet, no electrical work. For planning purposes, the crate it arrives in measures about 28" x 26" x 47" (710 x 660 x 1,190 mm) and weighs 269 lbs gross, which tells you two useful things: the door it has to come through, and the fact that this is not a two-people-and-a-trolley delivery. The unpacked machine is smaller, at 610 x 595 x 1,075 mm.
Site it where it can stay, with clear access at the front for hoses and printer. Preparing a suitable, ventilated space and a proper supply is the owner's responsibility.
Check the recovery figure before you order
Bludee's overview text for the AC400Dual states 95% recovery efficiency for standard and hybrid vehicles. The specification table on this page states 99% to medium vacuum. Both are the manufacturer's own, both describe this machine, and they are not the same claim. Both are given here with their source. If recovery efficiency decides your purchase, ask us and we will get the current figure confirmed with Bludee in writing before you commit.
Perfect For
- Shops mid-transition, with a customer base genuinely split between the two refrigerants and no bay space for a second cabinet.
- Single-bay and mobile operations where one machine has to cover everything that arrives.
- Fleets running mixed model years and wanting one process, one set of consumables and one service record.
- Workshops with a known vehicle mix, where an identifier can reasonably be a separate handheld tool rather than built in.
What's in the box
The AC400Dual with its onboard electronic scales, built-in thermal printer and vehicle capacity database. Refrigerants, oils and dyes are consumables and are not included. Bludee lists nothing further and we will not invent a packing list — if a specific coupler set or adapter is part of your decision, ask us to confirm it first.

Certification and compliance, stated honestly
The information we hold contains no independent performance listing for this machine, and this page does not suggest otherwise. On a dual-refrigerant unit the point deserves emphasis, because handling two gases in one circuit is exactly the design a shop might want somebody independent to have looked at. A manufacturer's specification sheet is not that. Where a warranty programme, an insurer or a local rule requires assessed equipment, settle the requirement before purchase — ask us and we will put the request to Bludee and pass on their answer unedited.
Delivery and pickup
It ships crated, by freight, to the lower 48 states, or you can collect from the warehouse. Freight is quoted live against your address at checkout, and a residential delivery attracts a residential fee. At 269 lbs gross the practical question is how it comes off the truck: if you have no dock and no forklift, say so before you order and we will arrange it around what you can receive, with terminal pickup often the simplest route. Inspect the crate before signing and write any damage on the bill of lading in front of the driver — that note is the whole basis of a claim.
Warranty
Terms and the claim process are published on our warranty claims page, and we will send the manufacturer's current document before you order if it will affect your decision. Should a fault appear, speak to us before the machine is opened. It contains a sealed refrigerant circuit, calibrated load cells and a pressure vessel, and a unit that has been dismantled before assessment can no longer be assessed — that ends the warranty.
