Corghi ET1450 Heavy-Duty Wheel Balancer w/Lift

The lift is rated for everything the balancer can balance

The Corghi ET1450 is a heavy-duty wheel balancer with an air-powered scissor lift built into the machine. The specification that makes it worth a second look is the pairing of two numbers: the balancer accepts a wheel assembly up to 330 lbs (150 kg), and the integrated lift is rated to raise a wheel up to 330 lbs (150 kg). Nothing the ET1450 can balance is too heavy for the lift that loads it.

That sounds obvious until you have shopped for a truck balancer. Balancing capacity commonly exceeds whatever lifting assistance is offered, which leaves the heaviest wheels in the range — precisely the ones a technician should not be manhandling — to be muscled onto the shaft or lifted with a separate hoist. Here one machine solves both problems to the same limit.

Will it fit your shop?

The ET1450 measures 53.4" × 23.6" × 38.8", which is a genuinely modest footprint for a machine that swallows a 52" wheel. It is a bench-height unit, not a tower, so ceiling height is not a constraint. What you do need is clear floor in front of it: the scissor lift has to come down to the ground for a wheel to be rolled onto it, and the operator needs room to stand square to the shaft while working.

The machine itself weighs 441 lbs (200 kg). Add a wheel of up to 330 lbs and the loaded mass is meaningful but not exceptional for a shop floor. A level slab matters more than a thick one here — a balancer measures imbalance in fractions of an ounce, and a machine that rocks on an uneven floor is a machine that gives you inconsistent readings.

Power is a 110V, 60Hz, single-phase (1ph) supply, which is the ordinary wall circuit most shops already have. The scissor lift is air powered, so you also need shop air routed to the machine's position. Confirm both before delivery day.

The electrical supply, the compressed-air feed, floor levelling and siting are the customer's responsibility. Measure your bay against the dimensions above and check that you have air where the machine will stand.

Two spin speeds, because a truck wheel and a car wheel are not the same problem

The ET1450 spins at 100 rpm for car wheels and 80 rpm for truck wheels, driven by an inverter-controlled motor with a matching electronic brake. The lower truck speed is not the machine being slow; it is the correct handling of rotating mass. A heavy commercial wheel carries far more energy at a given speed than a passenger wheel, and spinning it faster buys nothing in measurement quality while making both the spin-up and the braking harsher on the shaft and on the operator's nerves.

Inverter control is the part that makes two speeds practical. It lets the motor ramp and brake under electronic control rather than snatching, which shortens cycle time on car work without introducing shock loads into truck work.

Setting up the wheel: measured, not typed in

The machine uses a 3D Smart Arm data-entry gauge running the FSP program, so rim diameter and distance are read from the wheel rather than keyed in by the operator. That removes the single most common source of a bad balance, which is not a faulty machine but a mistyped rim dimension.

The measuring ranges are worth reading carefully, because three different widths get confused on balancer spec sheets:

  • Rim diameter is measured from 8" to 28" (203–711 mm). This is the range the gauge reads automatically.
  • Rim width is set from 1.5" to 25" (38–635 mm) — the bead-seat width the weights are applied against.
  • Maximum wheel width is 29" with the guard in place, and maximum wheel diameter is 52" (1321 mm). These are the physical envelope: what will actually fit under a closed guard.

The shaft is 40mm. Check that against any centring cones, flanges or truck adaptors you already own before assuming they will transfer from an existing machine.

Seven programs, hidden weight, and a laser that tells you where to stick it

The ET1450 carries seven balancing programs including a hidden-weight mode, which splits the outer adhesive weight into two smaller weights placed behind the spokes so the finished wheel looks untouched. On alloy wheels that customers actually look at, this is the difference between a good balance and a good-looking balance.

Supplied with the machine is a laser and light kit that marks the weight placement position inside the wheel. Weight placement error is an under-discussed cause of comebacks: the machine computes a correct answer, and the weight then goes on slightly away from where the computation assumed. A projected mark removes the guesswork, and the light makes the inside of a dark truck rim visible while you clean and apply. A stand-by mode drops idle power draw.

Perfect for

  • Commercial tire service centres running mixed car, light truck and heavy truck work through one bay.
  • Fleet workshops — transit, municipal, trucking and delivery fleets balancing their own wheels.
  • Busy independent shops that have outgrown a passenger-only balancer but do not want a second machine and a second footprint for truck work.
  • Any shop with a manual-handling policy — the integrated lift is the reason to buy this over a truck balancer with no loading assistance.

What's in the box

From what the manufacturer's current feature list for this model states, the machine is supplied with the air-powered scissor lift, the 3D Smart Arm gauge with the FSP program, and the laser and light kit for weight placement. Centring cones, truck flanges and adaptor kits are not itemised in that list — if you need a specific adaptor for your wheel population, ask us to confirm it in writing before you order rather than assuming it is included.

Certification and compliance, stated honestly

We do not publish a third-party North American safety listing for this balancer, and we are not going to gesture at one with vague compliance language. If your insurer, a corporate fleet policy, a local jurisdiction or a customer contract requires shop equipment to carry a named independent listing, settle that question before you order rather than after the crate arrives. Tell us the exact wording of the requirement and we will request documentation from the manufacturer in writing. If it turns out we cannot obtain it, we will tell you that plainly.

Shipping and delivery

The ET1450 ships by freight within the contiguous United States, and the freight cost is quoted live at checkout against your own address rather than estimated on this page.

Plan for unloading. A crated balancer of this weight is not something a driver will hand down from the tailboard — you need a forklift of adequate capacity on site, or you can take delivery at the carrier's terminal and collect it yourself. Delivery to a residential address is possible and carries a residential fee.

Inspect before you sign. Check the crate for punctures, crushed corners, broken banding and fork marks, photograph anything that looks wrong, and write it on the bill of lading in front of the driver. Signing a clean receipt and finding damage afterwards makes a claim very hard to win.

Warranty

The machine carries the manufacturer's warranty. We have not printed a term length here, because a number transcribed onto a product page is exactly the kind of thing that goes stale — our warranty claims page holds the current process, and we will confirm the coverage that applies to your order in writing if you ask before buying.

Do not strip the machine down before you make a claim. Opening up the inverter drive, the measuring head or the air circuit to diagnose a fault yourself is the most reliable way to have a warranty claim refused. Contact us with the serial number and a description of what the machine is doing, and let us open the claim.

Get in touch if you want the adaptor question answered for your specific wheel population, or the footprint checked against your bay.
