Description
-Katool KT-T830 and KT-B760: the balancer shows you where the weight goes
Balancing a wheel has two halves. The machine works out how much correction is needed and where — that part is arithmetic, and every balancer does it. Then somebody has to put the weight in exactly that place, and on most machines that step is done by eye: rotate to top dead centre, guess the plane, stick it on and hope. The KT-B760 supplied here carries a laser pointer that marks the spot, which turns the second half of the job from an estimate into an instruction.
It matters most where it is hardest to see. Adhesive weights go on the inside of the rim, out of sight and often behind a spoke, and a weight placed a few degrees or a centimetre out of plane is a wheel that comes back. Pair that with the KT-T830 wheel-clamp changer and you have a bay that mounts and balances to the same standard, bought once and delivered together.
What the laser actually saves
Time, first: no rotating back and forth to line up a mark. Comebacks, second, and comebacks are what tyre bays lose money on — a re-balance is unpaid labour on a customer who is now sceptical. And consistency, which is the underrated one. A shop with three technicians has three ways of eyeballing a placement. A laser gives all three the same one, so the quality of a balance stops depending on who did it.
The rest of the KT-B760's electronics support the same idea. An automatic measurement ruler enters the A and D values instead of leaving a technician to measure and key them. Several balance modes cover different rim constructions, units switch between ounces and grams and between millimetres and inches, and the machine runs its own fault diagnosis and double-sided self-calibration, so a suspect reading can be checked without a service visit.
The KT-T830 changer
The changer is the conventional half, done properly. It takes wheels up to 41 in (1,040 mm) in diameter and 15 in (380 mm) wide, clamping from 12 in to 22 in on the outside of the rim and 14 in to 24 in from the inside. The bead breaker cylinder is 186 mm (7.32 in) and stainless, which is the right material in a machine that spends its life wet with tyre soap and whatever came off the road. Assist arms on both sides hold stiff sidewalls down where a single arm would let them spring back.
Rim protection is layered, because a marked alloy costs more than the job earned. The steel jaws are carburised to a case up to 1.1 mm deep and quenched throughout — a hard face on a tough core — and wear covers so nothing bare touches the wheel. The mounting head is polished, solution-treated stainless with a plastic cover. A spade cover guards the lever's contact point. A closed body keeps shop debris out of the mechanism, and the air feed is filtered and lubricated so water and grit never reach the valves. The turntable runs at 6.8 revolutions per minute — deliberately unhurried, because speed at the rim edge is what damages wheels.
Numbers in both units, which is rarer than it should be
Katool publishes the KT-B760's limits in metric and imperial together, and that is genuinely useful when you are checking a wheel against a machine rather than converting on a phone. It balances rims up to 30 in, wheel assemblies to 880 mm (34.64 in), centre bores to 135 mm (5.31 in) and wheel weights to 65 kg (143 lbs), with wheel widths from 3 in to 12 in. It spins at 180 rpm, reports to ±1 gram, and completes a measuring cycle in about 7 seconds.
Structurally it is 3 mm steel, solidly welded, with the pressure sensor on an integrated support using 8 mm bottom and side boards, and a 36 mm quenched shaft thread. All of that exists for one reason: a balancer that flexes measures its own flexing and calls it imbalance.
Power, air and floor
- Balancer: 110V single phase, 0.25 kW motor.
- Changer: a 2.0 HP motor with pure copper windings on standard single-phase North American shop power. Katool's own paperwork quotes the nominal supply figure two different ways for this machine, so confirm it against the plate on the unit before an electrician books the socket — we would rather say that than print a number we cannot stand behind.
- Air: regulated compressed air up to 145 PSI for the bead breaker, clamps and inflation.
- Floor: level concrete, anchored per the manual. The changer alone is 240 kg (529 lbs), and its stability under a bead-breaking load is what keeps the wheel where you put it.
Perfect For
- Busy tyre bays where the same wheel coming back for a re-balance is the cost that hurts.
- Shops with several technicians, where consistency between people is worth more than any individual's skill.
- Alloy and tape-weight work, where the weight goes somewhere nobody can see.
- General repair shops setting up tyre service from nothing and wanting both machines specified together.

Certification, stated plainly
Katool's published data for these two machines does not name a third-party certification or listing, so we do not claim one for them. This weighs far less on tyre equipment than on a vehicle lift, where somebody works underneath a raised load, and most buyers will never be asked. Some will: a commercial insurer or an employer's safety policy can require documentation covering workshop machinery generally. If that is your situation, ask us before ordering and we will establish what is actually available rather than speculate here.
Shipping and delivery
Both machines move as freight within the lower 48 states, priced live at checkout for the address you enter rather than estimated in advance. The part worth planning is the unload. A freight driver delivers to the back of the truck; taking a 240 kg crate off it is the receiver's job, and a forklift is the sane answer. Without one, choose terminal pickup and collect from the carrier's depot, where the loading is theirs to do. Deliveries to residential addresses carry a residential fee, applied at checkout when you pick that option.
Inspect while the driver waits. Look at the crate corners, the strapping, and whether either machine has shifted on its pallet, then write anything you find on the bill of lading and photograph it. That note is the whole basis of a damage claim; a clean signature removes it.
Warranty
Katool provides a written warranty document for this equipment, and we will send the current copy before you buy if the terms matter to the decision. One practical rule protects any claim: leave a failed component assembled until the claim has been opened. A stripped valve, cylinder or circuit board reads as a modified part, and a replacement that would have been straightforward becomes a discussion. Photograph the fault, note both serial numbers and call us first.
