Description
-Tuxedo TC-400M-B Powersport Tire Changer
The TC-400M-B is a tire changer built around small wheels rather than adapted to them. Its clamps close down to 6" on the outside of a rim — a range most car-focused changers never reach — and open out to 24", so a set of sportbike wheels, an ATV rim and a light-truck alloy can all pass through the same table without a jaw swap. Everything else on the machine follows from that decision: an adjustable clamp set, a side-mounted bead breaker, and a 110V power supply that lets the changer live in a bay that has no three-phase service.
Why the 6" clamp floor is the whole story
Wheel diameter is the number shops quote, but on powersport work the number that decides whether a job is possible is the bottom of the clamping range. A minibike, scooter or ATV rim that measures under the jaw minimum simply cannot be held, and a rim held badly is a rim that gets marked. The TC-400M-B clamps outside the rim from 6" to 24", which covers the small end of powersport work and still reaches ordinary passenger sizes at the top. The clamp set is adjustable, so the jaws are positioned for the rim in front of you rather than left at a single factory setting.
The table accepts wheels up to 37" in overall diameter and up to 10" wide. That width figure is worth reading carefully before you order: it is the limiting dimension on wide rear rims, and it is the spec most likely to rule a particular wheel in or out. If you work on unusually wide wheels, check the rim width against that 10" figure first.
Pneumatic clamping, double-acting cylinders and a side bead breaker
The clamps run on shop air through double-acting cylinders. A double-acting cylinder is driven under pressure in both directions rather than relying on a spring to return, which is what gives a clamp a firm, repeatable release as well as a firm grip — useful when you are cycling a rack of wheels rather than doing one a week. The bead breaker is mounted on the side of the housing, so breaking a bead is a separate motion from mounting and demounting and the two operations do not compete for the same working space.
The machine ships with the air preparation set that a pneumatic changer needs to survive: a water separator, a lubricator and an air pressure regulator. Those three parts are often sold as an afterthought. They are not cosmetic — wet, unregulated, unlubricated air is the usual cause of a short cylinder life on any air-driven shop machine, and having them in the box means the changer is set up correctly on day one.
Will it fit your shop?
Power is the easy part. The TC-400M-B runs on 110V, 15 amp, single-phase — an ordinary wall circuit, not a dedicated high-voltage drop. Confirm that the circuit you plan to use is a genuine 15-amp branch and is not already shared with a compressor or a heater, because a changer sharing a circuit with a compressor is a nuisance breaker trip waiting to happen.
Air is the part people forget. Working pressure is 125 psi, and your compressor needs to hold that pressure while the clamps and bead breaker are actually cycling, not just reach it once at the top of a fill. Check the delivered pressure at the machine's regulator rather than the number on the tank gauge.
The changer arrives at 470 lbs. That governs the delivery decision more than anything else on this page — see the shipping notes below — and it also means the machine wants a flat, level piece of floor where it can stay put. Siting, anchoring and the electrical and air supply are the customer's responsibility; the equipment ships ready to install, not installed.
Perfect for
- Motorcycle and powersport shops — the machine was specified for motorcycle wheels, and the 6" clamp minimum is the reason.
- Powersport dealerships running tire service alongside sales, where a single table has to cover sportbike, cruiser, ATV and side-by-side rims.
- General repair shops adding a second table — a dedicated small-wheel changer keeps powersport work off the machine set up for cars.
- Serious home and race-support use, where 110V service and no three-phase requirement matter as much as the clamping range.
What comes with it
The published contents are the adjustable clamp set, the side-mounted bead breaker, and the water separator, lubricator and air pressure regulator noted above. We have not listed cones, adaptors or a mounting head kit here because the product data for this model does not state them — if a specific accessory matters to your decision, ask us to confirm it in writing before you order rather than assuming it is included.

What we can and cannot tell you about approvals
We will only publish a safety or conformity claim that the product's own documentation supports, and for this changer the data we hold makes no third-party safety-listing claim at all. That is a statement about our records, not a judgement about the machine. If your insurer, your employer's equipment policy or a local inspector requires a specific listing for shop equipment on your floor, tell us which one and we will confirm in writing what documentation is available before you place the order. It is a far cheaper question to ask now than after a 470 lb machine is standing in your bay.
Shipping and delivery
This machine ships as freight to the lower 48 states. Freight is quoted live at checkout for your address, so you see the real cost before you commit rather than a guess. You will need to be able to take the machine off the truck — a forklift, a loading dock or enough hands and the right equipment — or choose to collect it from the carrier's terminal instead. Residential delivery carries a residential fee, which is added at checkout when it applies. Warehouse pickup is available.
Inspect the shipment before you sign. Walk around the crate, look for punctures, crushed corners and shifted banding, and note any damage on the bill of lading at the moment of delivery. A signature on a clean BOL is very hard to walk back later; a note on the paperwork takes ten seconds and protects the claim.
Warranty
Warranty terms for this model are handled through our warranty claims page. One practical warning that applies to every powered machine we sell: do not disassemble a unit before opening a claim. Stripping a cylinder, a valve block or a control panel to diagnose a fault yourself is the single most common reason a valid claim is refused. Photograph the problem, note the serial number, and contact us first.
