Description
-Triumph NTC-950 and NTB-800: 40 inches of floor for a full wheel service bay
The single most useful number on this page is not the capacity. It is 40 inches — the depth of the NTC-950 tire changer, assembled. The assist-arm changers in the Triumph range are far deeper, because the arm has to swing somewhere, and for a shop trying to add wheel service to a bay that is already doing something else, depth is what decides the answer. This changer stands 56 inches wide, 40 inches deep and 80 inches tall, and it will go where its bigger siblings will not.
Paired with it is the NTB-800, which is the balancer Triumph fits automatic data entry to: you enter one of the three set-up parameters and the machine reads the other two. So the compact half of the package is the changer, and the clever half is the balancer.
Will It Fit?
Everything below is the buyer's to confirm before ordering.
- Changer footprint. 56 x 40 x 80 inches assembled (1,422mm x 1,016mm x 2,032mm). The height is what catches people out in a basement or a low garage bay — check the ceiling as well as the floor.
- Balancer footprint. 28 x 48 x 62 inches assembled (711mm x 1,219mm x 1,575mm), with room above it for the safety hood to rise.
- Electrical. 110 volts for both machines, from ordinary shop circuits.
- Compressed air. The changer works to a maximum of 120 PSI from your compressor; it has none of its own. Our data quotes no flow figure, so size the compressor from the machine's manual and not from an assumption.
- Delivery route. Crated, the changer is 51 x 38 x 51 inches at 700 lbs and the balancer is 30 x 39 x 51 inches at 300 lbs — roughly 1,000 lbs in total. Doors, thresholds and corners decide whether that gets to the spot you have chosen.
A changer without an assist arm, and when that is the right call
The NTC-950 handles rims up to 26 inches with the clamps on the outside and 16-28 inches gripping from the inside, wheels up to 15 inches wide, and tyres up to 43 inches in diameter. It breaks beads with 5,500 lbs of force and it carries the Jet Blast Inflation system, which fires a concentrated burst of air into the sidewall so a stubborn bead seats during inflation rather than after three attempts.
What it does not have is a powered arm to hold the bead for you. On conventional passenger and light-truck tyres — the overwhelming majority of what most shops see — that is simply not needed; the mount head and the tyre bar do the job as they always have. Run-flats and very stiff low-profile fitments are where the arm earns its price, and if those are a daily event for you, the assist-arm versions of this changer exist for exactly that reason. Buying the compact machine because your work is ordinary is a sound decision, not a compromise.
The balancer that fills in its own numbers
Every balance starts with three measurements: rim width, rim diameter, and the offset between machine and wheel. The NTB-800 asks for one and takes the other two itself. The benefit is not really the seconds saved; it is that two of the three numbers can no longer be typed in wrong. A wrong parameter does not produce an obvious fault, it produces a weight placed confidently in the wrong spot, and the customer finds that at speed on the motorway.
It also has a wheel brake, so the wheel stays exactly where the machine stopped it while the weights go on. The spindle reads to +/-1 gram with a 6-9 second cycle, takes a 36 mm shaft, handles wheels of 10-28 inches, tyres up to 44 inches, rim widths of 1 1/2-20 inches and up to 150 lbs, and displays in standard or metric.
Perfect For
- A general shop adding wheel service to a bay that already has a job, where floor area is the whole question.
- A new tyre business buying a complete pair rather than assembling one over two years.
- Cars and light trucks on conventional tyres — the fitments this machine was built around.
- Buildings with single-phase supply only, which is most small commercial units.

Certification, stated plainly
No third-party safety listing is recorded in our data for either machine, and this page will not suggest otherwise. Most buyers will never be asked. Some will: certain commercial insurance policies, some fleet and municipal contracts, and local jurisdictions that name a listing in their code. If you are in that group, ask us first and we will obtain the manufacturer's current documentation in writing rather than leave you to discover the position later.
Shipping and delivery
These ship as freight to the lower 48 states in two crates. The cost is quoted live against your address during checkout rather than printed on this page, because carrier rates move. Getting the crates off the trailer is the receiver's job — a forklift, a dock, or collection from the carrier's terminal, which is often the practical choice for a shop without lifting gear. Residential delivery carries a residential fee, applied at checkout.
Look before you sign. Anything crushed, punctured, bent or shifted goes on the bill of lading in front of the driver, with photographs. Once a clean receipt is signed, the carrier's position is that the shipment arrived in good order.
Warranty
We can send you the manufacturer's current warranty document before you order — ask, and read it rather than a summary. Independent of its terms: if a machine fails, do not open the motor, cylinder or valve block before the claim is registered. Dismantled parts are usually treated as modified parts, and that ends the conversation. Photograph, take the serial number, then call.
