Triumph NTC-950: buy the tower now, add the assist arm when the work demands it
The NTC-950 is a stand-alone wheel-clamp tire changer built on a fixed tower, and the thing worth understanding before you spend the money is what it deliberately leaves off. It ships without a helper arm. That is not a corner cut to hit a price — the tower is drilled and engineered to accept a single-tower assist later, so the machine you buy on day one is the same machine you keep when your tire volume doubles and low-profile work starts showing up on the schedule.
What it does not leave off is the bead blaster. A blast system is the feature that usually disappears first at this tier, and the one you miss on the first stubborn tubeless tire that will not seat. Here it is already in the machine, alongside the bead breaker and foot-pedal controls, so the entry configuration still does the awkward jobs.
It is aimed at the shop that is starting tire service or adding a second bay to it: independent repair shops, tire and wheel outfits, fleet maintenance bays, and serious home shops that have outgrown a manual bead breaker.
Will It Fit?
A tire changer is a floor-space decision more than a ceiling decision, but it still needs planning. Every figure below is yours to check against your own bay before the truck arrives.
- Assembled footprint. 56" x 40" x 80". Plan the 80" height against anything overhead — a mezzanine edge, a door track, a hose reel — and remember the tower needs clear air above it to swing.
- Working room around it. The footprint is the machine, not the job. Leave real circulation space on the clamp side rather than backing it tight into a corner.
- Power. 110 Volt. That is the practical part of this machine's specification: for most shops it means an existing outlet rather than an electrician and a new circuit before you can uncrate it.
- Air. The machine is rated to 120 PSI. Your compressor and your line size have to be able to hold pressure while the blaster fires, which is a different question from whether your compressor reaches 120 PSI eventually.
- Getting it in the door. It crates at 51" x 38" x 51" and 700 lbs. Measure your doorway and check the path from where the truck can stop to where the machine will live, because 700 lbs does not go up a step.
Fitment, power and air supply are the buyer's responsibility. If any of the above is close, measure it before you order rather than after.
Two clamping ranges, and why the smaller number is the one to check
Wheel clamp changers are quoted on one range in advertising and used on two in practice. Clamped from the inside — jaws pushing outward against the rim's inner lip — the NTC-950 covers 16" to 28". Clamped from the outside — jaws pulling inward on the rim edge — it covers 14" to 26".
That matters because the two techniques are not interchangeable. Outside clamping is the gentler option and the one you reach for on a wheel you would rather not mark. Inside clamping is what gets you up to the big diameters. So the question to ask of your own work is not whether it fits 28" wheels, but which of the two ranges covers the wheels you actually see, and whether you are willing to clamp them that way. A shop doing a lot of large truck and SUV wheels lives in the inside-clamping range; a shop doing painted and polished passenger wheels lives in the outside one.
Above the rim, the machine takes a tire up to 43" in overall diameter and a wheel up to 15" wide, which is the envelope that covers ordinary passenger cars, SUVs and light trucks.
Bead breaker force is the number that decides your bad days
Mounting a tire is easy. Breaking a bead that has been corroded onto a rim through two winters is the job that damages wheels and tempers. The NTC-950's bead breaker develops up to 5,500 lbs, driven by a 1 1/2 HP motor, and that combination is what lets the shovel take a seized bead in one deliberate push instead of a series of increasingly angry ones.
The bead blaster is the other half of the same argument, working in the opposite direction. Seating a tubeless bead needs a fast, large volume of air delivered at the rim, not a slow trickle through a valve stem. Blasting the bead turns a low-profile or run-flat tire from a twenty-minute fight into part of the job, which is why an integrated blast system belongs on a shop machine rather than on the options list.
Foot-pedal controls keep both hands on the tire while the turntable and the clamps do their work.
Room to grow, in both directions
The optional assist arm is the upgrade path. Stiff sidewalls, low-profile tires and run-flats are where a second point of downward pressure stops being a luxury, and the NTC-950 accepts assist support without replacing the machine. Buying the tower first and the arm later is a legitimate way to phase the investment.
If motorcycle and ATV wheels are part of your mix, the Triumph NTC-AS motorcycle adapter set bolts over the existing clamp jaws and adjusts the range for small wheels.
Perfect For
- Shops entering tire service. A complete, working changer at a starting configuration, with the growth path already built in.
- Independent repair shops adding a second capability. Runs on 110 Volt, so it does not force an electrical project.
- Fleet and municipal bays. The inside clamping range reaches the larger light-truck wheels that fleet work is full of.
- Serious home and hobby shops. Compact enough to live in a working garage, capable enough that you are not fighting it.
What's in the Box
The NTC-950 arrives as a stand-alone wheel-clamp changer with its bead breaker and bead blast system fitted, and foot-pedal controls. It comes without helper arms — that is the configuration. The assist arm and the motorcycle/ATV adapter kit are separate items. If you are unsure whether a specific accessory is included in your order, ask before you place it.

Certification, stated plainly
We do not list a third-party safety certification for this machine, and we are not going to imply one. If your insurer, your franchise agreement or your local jurisdiction requires equipment carrying a specific listing from a named testing body, confirm that requirement in writing and check it against this machine's documentation before you buy. Most independent shops face no such requirement for a tire changer; some commercial and fleet operations do.
Shipping and delivery
This machine ships by freight to the lower 48, crated on a pallet. Freight is quoted live at checkout for your address, so the number you see is current rather than an estimate baked into a page.
You need to be able to receive it. That means a forklift, a loading dock, or enough hands and equipment to get a crated machine off a truck — or you choose terminal pickup and collect it yourself. Residential delivery is available and carries a residential fee, added at checkout. Warehouse pickup is available at our Triumph locations.
Inspect before you sign. Walk the crate before the driver leaves, and note any damage, crushed corners or shifted banding on the bill of lading. A signed clean BOL is the carrier's evidence that the shipment arrived intact, and it is very hard to argue with afterwards. Photograph anything that looks wrong, note it on the paperwork, and call us the same day.
Warranty
Coverage is the manufacturer's, and the warranty terms are published on our warranty claims page. One rule is worth stating up front because it is the one that most often voids a valid claim: do not disassemble a component before the claim is filed. If something fails, stop, photograph it in place, and call us. A part that has been taken apart is a part that can no longer be assessed, and a claim that could have been paid becomes one that cannot.
