Katool KT-T810 Wheel Clamp Tire Changer Machine

Katool KT-T810: two inches of clamping range, and why they are the reason to buy it

Look at the KT-T810 next to the cheaper machine in the same family and almost everything matches. Same 41" (1,040 mm) maximum wheel diameter. Same 15" (380 mm) maximum width. Same 2.0 HP single-phase motor, same turntable speed, same jaws, same stainless head, same pedals. One line differs: the KT-T810 clamps up to 22" from the outside of the rim, and the cheaper machine stops two inches short of that.

That is the entire difference, and on a modern wheel it is not a small one. It is also the sort of thing manufacturer copy buries in a table without explaining, which is why it leads this page.

Outside versus inside clamping, in plain terms

A wheel-clamp changer grips a rim one of two ways. Outside clamping closes the jaws down onto the outer flange, with covers between the steel and the wheel. Inside clamping opens the jaws outward against the inner face of the drop centre. Both hold the wheel. They are not equivalent in risk.

Outside clamping keeps the jaws on the strongest, thickest part of the rim and never puts anything inside the barrel where a tire pressure sensor, a machined bead seat or a delicate powder-coated finish lives. Inside clamping is the fallback for wheels too large to be gripped from outside, and it is where the marks come from: an operator working quickly, an expanding jaw, a wheel that costs more than the day's labour.

Every inch of outside clamping range is therefore an inch of wheels you can service the safe way. Rims of 22" are ordinary equipment on current SUVs, light trucks and performance cars. A changer whose outside range stops short of that pushes a growing share of them into the fallback method. The KT-T810 does not.

Clamping range and wheel envelope

Outside clamping 12" to 22"
Inside clamping 14" to 24"
Max wheel diameter 41" (1,040 mm)
Max wheel width 15" (380 mm)

What protects the wheel once it is clamped

Clamping range only helps if the contact surfaces are right. The jaws on this machine are alloy steel, carburized and quenched so the gripping faces are hard while the body of the jaw stays tough, then fitted with covers so the hardened steel never meets the rim. The mounting head is stainless, solution treated and polished, with a plastic rim guard that is designed to be a consumable: when it wears, you replace a small part rather than the head.

That matters more than it sounds. On a machine where the head itself does the rubbing, the day it starts marking wheels is the day you face a real repair. Here the wear path runs through parts that cost little and swap out in minutes, which is what keeps a five-year-old changer safe on a customer's alloys.

Pedals, air, and hands-free inflation

Bead breaking, clamping and turntable rotation all run from foot pedals, so the operator's hands stay on the tire where they guide the bead over the head. The inflation gauge is on the same pedal circuit, meaning a bead can be charged while both hands hold the tire square, and a bead blast seater assists tires that will not take air the ordinary way.

Everything pneumatic runs through a lubricator and filter, which is not a luxury: untreated shop air carries water and grit straight into the cylinders and valves, and a pneumatic circuit that is fed clean, oiled air simply lasts longer. Air arrives regulated at 0.8 to 1.0 MPa, with the working range topping out at 145 PSI. The body is closed, keeping tire dust and rubber crumb out of the mechanism.

Will it fit your shop?

  • Air supply. A regulated compressor able to hold pressure through a bead break and a blast seat, not merely to reach the number once.
  • Power. Single phase (1PH). The voltage is recorded inconsistently in this product's own data - one field reads 110V and another 120V - so confirm the circuit with us before an electrician quotes the work. We would rather tell you the sources disagree than print whichever number looks tidier.
  • Floor and space. Level concrete, clearance around the turntable to walk a tire in, and room at the pedal side to stand square to the machine. At 410.05 lbs (186 kg) it is not moved casually once positioned.
  • Your responsibility. Confirming supply, air capacity and floor condition before delivery is the buyer's job. We can state what the machine needs; we cannot inspect your bay.

Perfect For

  • Independent shops servicing current SUVs and light trucks, where 22" wheels arrive as standard fitment.
  • Tire bays that work on expensive alloys and want to stay on outside clamping for as much of the book as possible.
  • General service centres adding tire work without stepping up to a dedicated tire shop machine.
  • Fleet and dealer workshops with a mixed but modern wheel range.

Certification, stated plainly

This machine's data claims no third-party North American safety listing, and this page will not imply one exists. Tire changers sit outside the listing regime that governs vehicle lifts, so for the great majority of buyers the question never arises. Where it does arise is a commercial insurance schedule, a fleet or municipal purchasing rule, or a local jurisdiction that names a specific listing in its code. If any of those bind you, verify the requirement with the party imposing it before you order, and ask us for whatever documentation the manufacturer provides.

Warranty

This model is offered with a one-year manufacturer warranty on product parts. The manufacturer's warranty document is the governing text and this listing does not reproduce it, so ask us for the current copy if the detail affects your decision. Regardless of the terms: leave a faulty machine assembled until a claim has been opened. Stripping it first is the most reliable way to lose a claim you would otherwise have won.

Shipping and delivery

The KT-T810 travels by freight truck to addresses in the lower 48 states. Freight is calculated live at checkout from the address you enter, so the figure shown is a current carrier rate rather than a stale estimate. Taking the crate off the trailer is the receiver's responsibility - a forklift, a suitable machine, or a booked terminal collection, which is often the easier route because the terminal already has the gear. Residential delivery adds a residential fee at checkout when you select it.

Inspect before you sign for it. Crushed corners, punctures, shifted banding or any sign the crate has been dropped go on the bill of lading in writing while the driver is there, with photographs. A clean signature is the carrier's evidence that the machine arrived undamaged.
