Description
-Hofmann MONTY 1575 Swing-Arm Tire Changer
Wheel protectors are included with the monty 1575. On most tire changers — including others in this same family — they are an optional line item you find out about after the first scratched alloy. Hofmann positions the 1575 as the value machine in the swing-arm range, and the way it makes that case is by putting the accessory that prevents the most expensive mistake in the box rather than on the order form.
Under that, it is a full-size swing-arm changer: 40" outer tire diameter, inner clamping to 26", a 6,000 lbs bead breaker, and a 120V single-phase supply that most shops already have at the wall.
The protectors are the point
Cosmetic rim damage is not a small claim. A customer’s painted or polished alloy that comes back marked is a wheel refinish or a replacement, and it usually happens on the day a technician is moving quickly on a stiff bead. Including the wheel protectors means the protection is present on the first job, not ordered after the first incident — which is a genuinely different proposition from a machine where they are a line you can decline to save money.
Check the outer clamping range before you order
The four-jaw chuck is self-centering and adjustable. Inner wheel clamping runs 12"-26" (30-66 cm), and the overall wheel clamping diameter is listed as 10"-26" (25-66 cm). Maximum outer tire diameter is 40" (101.6 cm) and maximum wheel width is 13" (33 cm).
Published figures for outer clamping differ. The specification table on this page gives an outer wheel clamping diameter of 10"-24" (25-61 cm); the feature list says the chuck clamps from either 26" inner or 24" outer, and one bullet earlier that same feature list describes outer-wheel diameters of 21" (530 mm). Outer clamping capacity is precisely the specification that decides whether a wheel you already own will go on this machine. If your work sits near that limit, ask us and we will get the current figure confirmed by the manufacturer before you order.
The bead breaker, and a second figure worth a phone call
Bead loosening power is 6,000 lbs (2,722 kg), delivered by a two-stage pneumatic cylinder that is toggled from the foot pedal. Two-stage operation is what lets one machine handle a soft passenger sidewall and a stiff run-flat without the operator changing anything but the pressure on the pedal.
Published figures for the working range of that shovel differ: the specification table gives 3"-13" (7.6-33 cm), while the feature list describes a range up to 14" (356 mm). Both are printed here against the source that states them. If that range decides your purchase, call us and we will confirm the current figure with Hofmann before you order.
How the rest of it is built
Dual pneumatic clamping cylinders control all four clamping jaws together, which is the arrangement that stops a jaw releasing mid-bead and dragging across a rim flange. The tire inflation system is a foot-pedal air blast, with each movable jaw set precisely under the wheel so the bead seats and seals.
The machine can be upgraded later with Hofmann’s optional Easymont Pro — a three-piece assist consisting of a top roller, pressing foot and lifting disc, each doing a distinct part of the job so a single operator can mount and demount low-profile and high-performance tires without help.
Will it fit your bay?
Two things drive the layout of a swing-arm changer. The arm swings clear to the side, so the machine needs a working envelope wider than its cabinet, and the tower needs clear height above it. Beyond that, the honest answer is that our data for the 1575 does not include cabinet dimensions — the specification table covers clamping, power and weight but stops short of a footprint. We are not going to estimate one. Ask us and we will get the installation drawing.
What we can tell you is that it ships at 550 lbs (249.5 kg), and that power is 120V single phase, 60 Hz — a standard supply in most shops, and a real advantage over equipment that needs a dedicated higher-voltage circuit run before it can be switched on. It also needs shop compressed air; check that your compressor sustains a tire bay’s duty cycle rather than just reaching pressure eventually. Confirming power, air and access is the buyer’s responsibility.

Perfect For
- Independent shops watching the capital number but unwilling to buy a machine that marks wheels.
- General repair garages that change tires regularly without being a dedicated tire business.
- Shops on a standard 120V supply, where avoiding an electrical install is part of the value.
- Operations that expect to grow into low-profile and run-flat work and want the Easymont Pro route open.
What is in the box
Hofmann’s own description is explicit that the wheel protectors are included. Easymont Pro is an optional upgrade. Beyond those two facts our data does not itemise the crate, and we would rather tell you that than publish a list we cannot support — ask us before ordering if a specific adapter or protector set is part of your decision.
Certification, stated plainly
No third-party safety listing is recorded for this machine in our product data, and we will not imply one. Some insurers, fleet contracts and local inspection regimes require powered shop equipment to carry an independent testing laboratory listing. If that is your situation, raise it with us before purchase and we will request the manufacturer’s compliance documentation in writing.
Delivery and inspection
The 1575 ships as freight to the contiguous United States (the lower 48 states). Hofmann equipment has its own delivery, set-up and instruction terms, described in the Pick Up and Delivery section further down this page — read that section before you plan the installation.
Inspect the shipment before signing. Look over the pallet for impact damage and shifted banding, check the tower and the pedal assembly, and write any damage on the bill of lading at the time of delivery. That note is the difference between a claim and a conversation.
Warranty
Warranty claims go through our warranty claims page. Do not dismantle the machine to diagnose a fault before the claim is open — photograph it, keep the packaging if transit damage is possible, and contact us first.
Product Features
- Accommodates Large Wheel & Tire Assemblies - Allowing for a tire diameter of 40" (1016 mm) and outer-wheel diameters of 21" (530 mm), the monty 1575 can handle wheel and tire assemblies found on cars and light trucks
- Dual Wheel Clamping Cylinders - Dual pneumatic clamping cylinders control all four clamping jaws, eliminating damage to wheels due to slippage
- Adjustable Four-Jaw Clamping Chuck - Self-centering jaw clamps wheels from either 26" inner or 24" outer diameter
- Powerful Two-Stage Bead Breaker - 6,000 lbs (2,722 kg) of power at the bead shovel and a range of up to 14" (356 mm) wide. The two-stage pneumatic cylinder provides precise power and can be toggled with the foot pedal as needed. Both the stiffest and the softest sidewalls are a snap
- Powerful Tire Inflation System - Powerful air blast operated by the foot pedal. Each movable jaw is precisely set to the exact position under the wheel to seal the tire bead
- Upgrade With Optional Easymont Pro - Easymont Pro features a three-piece design with a top roller, pressing foot and lifting disc. Each piece provides a specialized function that assists a single operator in mounting/demounting low-profiles and high performance tires
