Description

It has no base, and that is a safety decision, not a cost saving

Look at the Monster AGTT next to almost any other heavy-duty tire changer and the first thing you notice is what is missing. There is no base under the wheel. The loading area is the floor itself, and the wheel is worked with the assembly raised only a few centimetres off the ground.

Corghi's reason is the argument for the whole machine: a base is a platform, and a platform is something a large wheel can become unbalanced on. Loading an agricultural or earthmoving wheel up onto a raised surface is the moment in the job where things go wrong. Remove the base and that moment does not exist.

The second half of the same design argument is the controller. Commands are transmitted by radio from an independent, wheel-mounted console weighing 17.6 lbs (8 kg) and running at 24V, with an emergency button on it. Every movement can be commanded without the operator putting a hand near the tool block. On a machine developing 9,000 lb(f) of clamping force, distance is a feature.

Will It Fit?

These are the numbers that decide whether the machine can go where you want it, and confirming them against your building is the buyer's job before ordering.

  • Footprint. 94.5" (2,400 mm) long by 86.6" (2,200 mm) wide, standing 70.9" (1,800 mm) at maximum height. Mark that out on the floor, then add the room a wheel needs to be brought in and turned.
  • Floor. The machine weighs 2,866 lbs (1,300 kg) and handles wheels up to 3,747.8 lbs (1,700 kg). Slab condition and anchoring should follow the manufacturer's manual.
  • Power. The features list offers it in 208V, 230V and 400V three-phase configurations; the specification table gives the supply as 230/400 V, three phase. Three-phase service is required either way. Tell us the supply you have and we will confirm the correct configuration before the order is placed.
  • Noise. Rated at 63 dB (A) in operation - relevant if the bay is shared or near an office.
  • Your responsibility. Building, floor, three-phase supply, unloading and installation are all yours to arrange, and all cheaper to sort out now than on delivery day.

"Leva la Leva": taking the lever out of the job

The tool block is hydraulic throughout and carries Corghi's patented "Leva la Leva" leverless device, which performs the tire change without a bead lever in a technician's hands. The bead loosening disc reaches the correct inclination at each phase of the process through hydraulic movement rather than operator judgement.

The part that does the real protective work is subtler. The arm carrying the tool block moves in coordination with the turntable, so the tool and the wheel stay tangent to one another in every position. Tension is reduced and contact avoided, which is how a rim comes off this machine unmarked. Anyone who has watched a bead lever slip against an expensive rim understands why a manufacturer would spend engineering on that specific problem.

Force is there when needed: up to 6,750 lb(f) internal axial bead loosening force and 5,625 lb(f) external, on a hydraulic system running to 2,610 PSI and adjustable below it.

The turntable: nine positions, and jaws that tilt

The self-centring locking turntable is built from tilting jaws with nine direct lockable positions covering 14" to 48", with tilt taking it up to 58". It clamps rims down to a minimum centre hole of 3.5" (90 mm), and it is a wheel-clamping system rather than an extension-and-adapter exercise - a genuine time saving on a shop floor where every set-up minute is multiplied by the number of wheels in the queue.

The tilting jaw is the exclusive part: rather than one fixed clamping face, it adapts to the profile of the rim in front of it, which is how one machine holds everything from a small commercial rim to a 58" agricultural wheel.

Turntable rotation runs through a drive inverter which automatically selects the appropriate speed for the job, including tire groove forming. Three speeds are available, the fastest 7.8 rpm, with maximum rotation torque of 4,059 ft/lbs and a maximum locking force of 9,000 lb(f).

S.T.S., and the movements you no longer make by hand

The S.T.S. device - Side To Side - switches the tool block automatically from one side of the tire to the other. On wheels this size, repositioning the tooling by hand is both the slowest part of the job and the part with the most exposure; automating it removes both at once.

The supporting movements are hydraulic and specified: the tool arm travels 44.1" (1,120 mm) axially, at 3.9"/s (100 mm/s) in displacement and 1.6"/s (40 mm/s) while working; the chuck-holding carriage travels 26.4" (670 mm) axially at 2.8"/s (70 mm/s). Play recovery pads take up wear so the accuracy does not decay with use, and a memory function stores tool positions so repositioning is recalled rather than repeated.

Perfect For

  • Agricultural dealers and service operations handling tractor, combine and implement wheels.
  • Earthmoving and quarry fleets servicing machines that never see a public road.
  • Truck and bus fleet workshops wanting leverless changing on wheels that currently take two people.
  • Commercial tire specialists whose exposure to rim damage claims is a real cost line.

What's in the Box

The manufacturer's data for this machine does not publish a packing list, so this page does not invent one. Documented as supplied: the electro-hydraulic control unit with display, and the independent wheel-mounted radio controller described above. Ask us to confirm the current standard tooling for your configuration before you order.

Electrical rating See the note below - published figures differ

Confirm the electrical rating before you wire the bay

Published figures for the electrical demand differ. The hydraulic control unit motor is listed at 3.3 - 4 kW, while the power supply row gives the machine as three phase, 230/400 V, 5 kW. Both are shown in the specification table on this page exactly as the manufacturer publishes them. A supply and a protective device have to be sized from the right figure, and that decision lands in your building rather than in a description, so ask us to confirm the rating against the current factory documentation before an electrician quotes the installation.

Certification, stated honestly

Our data for the Monster AGTT records no independent third-party safety listing, so this page claims none. It is worth knowing the distinction: a manufacturer's own declaration that a machine conforms to the applicable directives is the maker attesting to its own product, and is a different document from an outside body testing and listing it. The two are frequently treated as the same thing and they are not. Where an insurer, a fleet policy or a local jurisdiction requires a specific listing, confirm the requirement with them and ask us to establish what the manufacturer can evidence in writing.

Shipping and delivery

The Monster AGTT ships freight within the lower 48 states, priced live at checkout for the address you enter. Unloading is yours to arrange, or collect from the carrier's terminal instead - the driver brings a machine of this weight but not the means to lift it off the trailer. A residential delivery carries a residential fee where one applies. Inspect the shipment thoroughly before signing and record any damage on the bill of lading while the driver is present; a signature on a clean bill of lading is treated as confirmation that everything arrived intact.

Warranty

Current warranty conditions are published on our warranty claims page rather than printed here, so what you read is the live document. Independent of the terms: if a fault appears, raise the claim before anything is dismantled. Equipment taken apart for a look before the claim is assessed is the standard reason a valid claim is refused, and it is entirely avoidable.
