Corghi AM28 Artiglio Master Touchless Tire Changer
The Artiglio Master AM28 is a leverless, touchless tire changer aimed at shops whose day is mostly alloy wheels, low-profile rubber and run-flats - the assemblies where one gouged rim costs more than a day of labour. Two things set it apart, and both are checkable rather than atmospheric. The mounting head does not contact the rim at any point in the cycle. And the machine is specified at 115V, single phase, which is unusual at this level and means the AM28 can go into a bay that has no three-phase service at all.
Corghi places the AM28 at the end of 18 years of leverless development, and the machine reads that way. The demounting head is not a clean-sheet part: it merges the head used on the Artiglio Master 26 with the one used on the Artiglio Master CODE, taking the working geometry of each. That is worth knowing when you compare spec sheets: the head is a refinement of two proven designs, not a first attempt.
Will It Fit?
Plan the bay from the numbers below before you order, not after the truck arrives. The AM28 needs a footprint of 96.77 inches by 45 inches and stands 82.68 inches tall, and it weighs 1,036 lbs (480 kg) - enough that you should think about how it will be moved from the tail of the truck to its final position. It runs on 115V single-phase power and needs a compressed-air supply of 8 to 9.5 bar as a minimum. Working room matters as much as the footprint: the console, the pedals and the wheel-loading side are all on the same face of the machine, so the operator side needs clear space while the other three sides do not.
One thing you should ask us about before you commit the space. Our data gives this machine two dimension sets that do not agree on what they describe. The specification table lists 96.77 inches long, 45 inches deep and 82.68 inches high under the heading Shipping. A separate product field records the machine itself as 97 inches long and 83 inches high. The figures are close enough to look like the same measurements rounded, but we cannot tell you from our own records which set is the crate and which is the machine, so we are not going to guess. If the difference matters to your layout, ask us and we will get it confirmed in writing.

Why touchless matters more than leverless
Plenty of machines are sold as leverless. The distinction Corghi draws on the AM28 is narrower: the tool never touches the rim during any working phase, and tire tension is cancelled during demounting and mounting rather than fought. The practical consequence is a comeback problem you stop having. Painted and machined-face wheels are where tire-bar damage shows up, usually a week later, on the customer's driveway, in daylight. A head that stays off the rim removes the mechanism instead of asking a technician to be careful in a hurry.
The bead breaker does the positioning for you
The AM28 uses a dynamic bead-breaking device with two mirrored discs working on opposite sides of the wheel. The radial position of those discs is set by the machine, not by the operator - an automatism that prevents manual positioning altogether. Corghi describes the penetration depth as controlled and patent pending, and the two discs move in perfectly synchronised, symmetrical motion.
The reason to care is repeatability. On a machine where the operator positions the disc by eye, the quality of the bead break depends on who is working that afternoon; a stiff sidewall gets attacked and a soft one gets over-penetrated. With the positioning taken out of the operator's hands, the same wheel breaks the same way on a Tuesday morning and a Saturday afternoon. There is also a rapid demounting procedure that uses the bead breaker disc directly, which is where stiff sidewalls are handled.
Pneumatic clamping, and a machine that loads its own wheels
Wheel clamping on this version is pneumatic and is worked by a third pedal. At rest the system that clamps the turntable centre handle is active; pressing the pedal releases it. So the pedal is used twice per job - once to position and clamp the wheel, once to release it when the work is done - and the clamp is engaged by default rather than by the operator remembering to engage it.
The wheel lifter is the other piece of the ergonomic story, and it is rated to 187 lbs (85 kg). That is the number to compare against the heaviest assembly you actually handle, because it decides whether this is a one-technician machine in your shop or a two-technician one. Loading, the console and the pedals all sit on the same side at a constant working height, so the operator is not walking around the machine mid-cycle. The bead depressor has an adjustable working height, is shaped for run-flat tires, and returns to its work position on a spring system.

Certification, stated honestly
Our product record for the AM28 contains no third-party safety listing. We want to be precise about what that means: it is an absence in our data, not a finding that no such document exists. A machine sold into North America may carry approvals we do not hold a copy of. What we will not do is imply a listing we cannot show you. If your insurer, your fleet policy or a local inspector requires a specific certification, tell us which one before you order and we will get the manufacturer's answer in writing.
Shipping and delivery
This machine ships freight to the lower 48 states. Freight is quoted live at checkout, so the price you see is current rather than an estimate carried over from last year. You must be able to receive it: either you have a forklift or a loading dock, or you arrange terminal pickup with the carrier. Residential delivery carries an additional fee, which the checkout will show you before you pay. When the truck arrives, inspect the crate before you sign - note any damage on the bill of lading at the moment of delivery. A clean signature makes a damage claim very hard to win, however obvious the damage looks the next morning.
