Description
-A leverless head on a swing-arm tower — and the arm gets out of your way
The Corghi A9824LL combines two things that usually come separately: a leverless mount/demount head, and a swing-arm tower whose upper arm assembly swings clear when you are not using it. That combination is the reason to look at this machine rather than a tilt-back of similar capacity.
The leverless head is the rim-protection half. Instead of a steel bar being pried against the rim edge with a nylon protector that can slip, the head engages the bead and drives it over the flange under machine control. On painted alloys, polished wheels and stiff low-profile sidewalls, that is the difference between a routine job and a damage claim.
The swing arm is the ergonomics half, and it has a practical consequence people discover after installation rather than before. A tilt-back tower tips backwards to clear the wheel, so it wants clearance behind it. A swing arm rotates the tower aside instead, which means the A9824LL can be sited close to a rear wall but needs room at the side to swing into. Work out which of those your bay actually has before you decide.
Capacity: it takes a bigger assembly than the tilt-backs
Maximum tire diameter is 47" (1194 mm) with a maximum rim width of 14" (356 mm). Clamping is where the detail lives:
- Internal rim clamping — 13" to 26" (up to 660 mm), the everyday mode for most modern wheels.
- External rim clamping — 10" to 24" (up to 610 mm), for rims that cannot be gripped from inside the flange.
- External with adapters — out to 28" (711 mm).
That external-with-adapters figure is worth noting. Oversized rims are usually the ones that cannot be clamped internally, so the range that actually rescues an awkward wheel is the external one — and here it reaches further than the machine's standard external range by a useful margin.
The table top turns at 11 rpm. Tire changing is a low-speed, high-torque job; what moves a bead is sustained twist rather than table speed, and a quick table under a stiff tire is harder to control and easier to mark a rim with.
A straight answer about the torque figure
We are not going to quietly print one number here. Two different table-top rotation torque figures are published for this machine and they do not agree: the specification table on this page states 737 ft-lb, while the manufacturer's product description states 958.83 ft-lb. We do not know which is correct, and we would rather tell you that than pick the more impressive one.
For most buyers this does not change the decision — both figures describe a machine with ample torque for passenger and light-truck work, and neither is near a threshold where a bead becomes impossible. But if rotation torque is genuinely part of your comparison, contact us before you order and we will have the figure confirmed by the manufacturer in writing. A slow, correct answer beats a confident wrong one on a purchase this size.
Bead breaker, inflator and build
The bead-breaker blade is designed to follow the bead into the inside rim contour rather than shoving flat against it, so the force is applied where the bead actually sits. The machine also carries a bead-pressing lever for holding a bead down during mounting, which is the accessory that turns a two-person job on a stiff sidewall into a one-person job.
Inflation is built into the table with jets in the jaws, so a stubborn bead can be seated with a controlled burst through the clamping jaws rather than chased with a hand-held inflator. The turntable is heavy-duty stainless steel and rotates in either direction, and the cylinders are rebuildable stainless steel — a rebuildable cylinder is a seal kit and an afternoon, where a sealed unit means a replacement part and a machine standing idle until it lands. A locking handle secures the head away from the rim during operation.
Will it fit, and what does it need?
Maximum dimensions are 78" H × 48" W × 42" D, and the machine weighs 503 lbs. Remember the swing-arm point above: the footprint is not the working envelope, because the arm needs somewhere to swing.
It needs a level, sound floor, compressed air at 130 psi, and a 110V single-phase (1ph) electrical supply. Confirm the electrical specification with us before wiring. The supply frequency printed in the specification table for this model is not the standard North American mains frequency, which we believe is an error carried through the manufacturer's data rather than a description of the machine — but it is not something to hand an electrician on trust.
Siting, the floor, the air feed and the electrical circuit are the customer's responsibility. Measure your bay against the figures above and confirm your supply before you order.
One further point of housekeeping: this listing is the electric machine. The manufacturer's feature list further down this page is shared across the family and mentions an air-motor option, so if it is the air version you want, tell us and we will quote it specifically rather than leaving you to infer it from a shared feature list.
Perfect for
- Tire stores and independent shops handling large-diameter alloy wheels as routine work.
- Bays with a wall behind the machine but open floor to one side — the swing-arm layout suits that shape of shop.
- Performance and UHP specialists where a leverless head earns its price on the first rim it does not mark.
- Dealership service departments accountable for the cosmetic condition of customer wheels.
What's in the box
From the manufacturer's current feature list for this model: the machine with its leverless mount/demount head and locking handle, the swing-arm upper assembly, the bead-pressing lever, the built-in table inflator with jets in the jaws, the stainless steel turntable and rebuildable stainless cylinders, and the bead breaker. The external clamping adapters that extend the range are not itemised as included — if you need them, ask us to confirm in writing before ordering rather than assuming.

Certification and compliance, stated honestly
We do not publish an independent North American safety listing for this tire changer, and we are not going to imply one with loose compliance language. If an insurer, a corporate policy, a local jurisdiction or a customer contract requires your shop equipment to carry a named third-party listing or to meet a specific standard, resolve that before you order rather than after the crate arrives. Send us the exact wording of the requirement and we will ask the manufacturer for documentation in writing — and say so plainly if it cannot be produced.
Shipping and delivery
The A9824LL ships by freight within the contiguous United States, with freight quoted live at checkout for your own address rather than estimated on this page.
Plan how you will unload it, or take delivery at the carrier's terminal instead. A crate at this weight is not coming off the truck by hand, so you need a forklift of adequate capacity on site or a terminal pickup arranged in advance. Delivery to a residential address is available and carries a residential fee.
Inspect before you sign. Check the crate for fork punctures, crushed corners, cut banding and any sign the load has shifted; photograph anything doubtful and write it onto the bill of lading while the driver is still there. Once a clean receipt is signed, a damage claim becomes a hard argument.
Warranty
The machine carries the manufacturer's warranty. We have not printed a term length rather than let a transcribed number go stale on a product page — the current process is on our warranty claims page, and we will confirm the coverage applying to your order in writing before you buy if you ask.
Do not dismantle the machine before making a claim. Stripping the swing-arm assembly, the pneumatic head or the drive to diagnose a fault yourself is the most reliable way to have a legitimate claim refused. Call us with the serial number and the symptom and let us open it properly.
Contact us to get the torque figure confirmed, to price the clamping adapters, or to check the swing clearance against your bay.
