Description
-A turntable whose clamps move, so one machine covers two clamping ranges
The Corghi A2024LL is an electric tilt-back tire changer built around Corghi's leverless "Leva la leva" head — a mount/demount tool that does the work without a tire lever being levered against the rim edge. The feature we would point a buyer at first, though, is quieter and appears as a single line on the feature list: the A2024LL uses a patented turntable system in which the clamps themselves can be repositioned to change the working range.
On a conventional rim-clamp turntable the clamping range is fixed by where the jaws sit. You get one inside range and one outside range, and a rim outside both is somebody else's job. Being able to move the clamps means the same turntable can be set up for the range the day's work actually needs. For a shop whose wheel population has drifted upward over the last decade — and most have — that is a machine with a longer useful life rather than a machine you replace when rims grow again.
Leverless, and what that actually buys you
The value of a leverless head is not speed, it is rim damage. The classic way to cut an alloy wheel is to lever a bead over the rim edge with a steel bar and a nylon protector that slips at the wrong moment. A leverless head engages the bead and drives it over the flange under machine control, so the tool is not being pried against the rim face at all.
That matters most on exactly the wheels where a claim is expensive: low-profile tires with stiff sidewalls, painted and polished alloys, and anything where the customer will inspect the rim afterwards. The A2024LL also carries a top bead demounting procedure head unit, which is the manufacturer's arrangement for taking the upper bead off in a controlled sequence rather than by force.
The adjustable bead breaker
The machine has a fixed-arm bead breaker with an extending shoe and a telescopic support, and the bead breaker is adjustable. That adjustment is what lets the shoe meet the bead squarely on wheels of different diameters instead of catching the sidewall at an angle on a large rim and the rim edge on a small one. A bead breaker that only ever attacks at one height is the part of a cheap changer that eventually marks a rim.
The turntable turns at 8.5 rpm. That is a working speed chosen for control on a stiff bead rather than for a fast lap of an easy tire, and it is the right priority on a machine whose selling point is not damaging wheels.
Will it fit your bay?
The A2024LL is a tilt-back machine, which means the tower tips backwards to clear the wheel rather than swinging sideways. The practical consequence for siting is that it needs clearance behind it, and can sit closer to a side wall than a swing-arm changer of similar capacity. Leave working room in front for a wheel to be rolled in and laid down.
We have deliberately not printed an overall footprint in this description. The manufacturer's specification records we hold for the A2024LL contain two different sets of overall dimensions that do not agree with each other, and a wrong footprint is precisely the kind of error that gets discovered after a machine is uncrated in a bay it does not fit. If clearance is tight, contact us before you order and we will get the dimensions confirmed by the manufacturer in writing. Both figures as published appear in the specification table on this page; we would rather you see the discrepancy than be handed a confident number we cannot stand behind.
The machine weighs 571 lbs (259 kg). It needs a level, sound slab, an electrical supply and shop air at 145 psi operating pressure. The supply is 110V single phase (1ph). One thing to check with us: the supply frequency shown in the specification table for this model is not the standard North American mains frequency, which we believe is an error in the manufacturer's data rather than a description of the machine. Clamping and capacity, spelled out
Tire changers quote several ranges that sound alike, so:

- Outside clamping — 10" to 24" (up to 610 mm). The jaws grip the outer edge, used on rims that cannot be gripped internally.

- Maximum tire width — 14" (360 mm).
- Tool working range — out to 26" (660 mm).
The clamping ranges are the numbers that decide whether a given wheel can be done at all, and they are the ones to check against your own work before the headline diameter.

You must be able to unload it or collect from the carrier's terminal — a crated tire changer at this weight is not coming off the truck by hand, so have a forklift with adequate capacity on site or choose terminal pickup. Residential delivery is available and carries a residential fee.
Inspect the crate before signing. Fork punctures, crushed corners, cut banding and a load that has obviously shifted all need to be photographed and written onto the bill of lading while the driver is present. Once you have signed a clean receipt, a damage claim becomes very difficult.
