Product Description

Ranger RS-500D Spray Wash Cabinet with Stainless Skimmer

Two things separate the RS-500D from the larger cabinet in the same range, and neither is the obvious one. The first is pressure: this machine's pump is rated at 75 psi @ 70 gpm, which is higher pressure than its bigger sibling delivers, because a smaller enclosure does not need the same volume spread over the same area. The second is that it arrives with a 20 lb bucket of Aluma-Klean detergent, so the cabinet is working the day the electrician signs off instead of waiting on a consumables order.

Pressure, volume and why both numbers matter

Parts washing is not pressure washing. The job is to get hot detergent onto every surface of a part and keep it there long enough to lift baked grease, which needs volume as much as force. The RS-500D's 75 psi @ 70 gpm through 18 brass nozzles is the balance the manufacturer struck for this cabinet size: enough pressure to reach into castings and around bolt heads, enough volume to flood the part continuously, and not so much force that a light aluminium component is knocked off the turntable. The turntable rotates on a friction drive so every face passes the nozzles rather than the part being cleaned from one direction and turned by hand.

Heat is doing more of the work than you think

Dual water heaters bring the 50-gallon tank up to temperature quickly, and an adjustable thermostat holds it between 160° - 180° F (71° - 82° C). That range is not arbitrary. It is where heavy grease stops behaving like a solid and starts behaving like something the detergent can carry away, and it is why an aqueous cabinet cleans parts that cold solvent will only smear. The operation is aqueous throughout — no harsh chemicals to store, no solvent vapour in the bay, and disposal that is a great deal simpler to organise.

The skimmer is the running-cost feature

Oil comes off the parts and floats. Left alone it emulsifies into the wash water and starts redepositing a film on the next load, which is the moment a parts washer quietly stops being useful while still appearing to run. The stainless steel oil skimmer lifts that layer off the surface continuously. The effect is that a charge of detergent survives many more loads, so you buy less of it and dispose of less of it — and, more importantly, the parts coming out on Friday are as clean as the ones that came out on Monday. A removable tank screen catches the solids that the skimmer is not there for.

Built to be in a shop for a long time

The shell is 12 gauge steel at .109 thickness, finished with a two-step industrial primer and a powder coat. Interior welds are contamination proof, so debris cannot pack into a seam and corrode the cabinet from the inside out. The door is a full-opening octagonal panel with a neoprene seal and no gasket to harden and split, closed by a fast-release latch, which matters when an operator is loading it twenty times a day. A low water shutoff protects the pump and heaters if the level falls, a large drain pipe makes a tank change quick, and non-marring urethane casters let a 680 lbs (308 kg) machine be moved without wrecking the floor.

Will It Fit?

Recommended floor space is 44" x 43" (1,118 mm x 1,092 mm) and the cabinet stands 66" (1,676 mm) tall — noticeably lower than the taller cabinet in this range, which is worth knowing if you are siting it under a mezzanine, a duct run or a low garage door header. Inside you get 43" (1,092 mm) of height over a 30" (762 mm) turntable with 32" (813 mm) of width, and a load capacity of 500 lbs (227 kg). Power is 1 HP at 220 VAC / 60 Hz / 1 Ph, single phase but not a domestic outlet, with the electric heater drawing separately at 6 kW. It ships at 680 lbs (308 kg) in a 46" x 46" x 68" (1,168 mm x 1,168 mm x 1,727 mm) crate, so measure the doorway against the crate and not the cabinet. Confirming the supply, the floor and the access route before delivery is the customer's job, and it is a short conversation with an electrician rather than an expensive surprise on a Tuesday morning.

Perfect For

Independent repair shops cleaning engine and driveline components daily, where the 500 lbs turntable rating covers essentially everything that comes off a car. Machine shops that need parts clean for inspection rather than clean for a photograph. Restoration workshops, where a hot aqueous wash is kinder to old castings than blasting. Motorcycle, marine and small-equipment shops. Serious home workshops with a suitable circuit and the floor space — this is the size of cabinet where that stops being unreasonable.

What's in the Box

  • RS-500D cabinet with a heated 50-gallon tank and dual water heaters
  • Stainless steel oil skimmer
  • Removable parts tree rack and small components basket
  • Removable tank screen
  • A 20 lb bucket of Aluma-Klean detergent

The tree rack and basket are the reason a cabinet this size stays busy: small fasteners and brackets ride through the same cycle as the large component on the turntable instead of waiting for a load of their own.

Certification, said out loud

We hold no independent third-party listing for this cabinet and we are not going to imply otherwise by staying quiet about it. The current description calls the electrical panel rated to a recognised enclosure standard; that is the manufacturer's own description of the panel, not a certificate we can hand you. This is a heated, powered, water-filled appliance in a working shop, so if your insurer, your local authority or a workplace safety regime wants documented conformity, ask us what documentation the manufacturer supplies before ordering rather than during an inspection.

Shipping and delivery

Freight only, within the lower 48 states, crated and heavy. Arrange the unload before the delivery is booked: a forklift, or a pallet jack with hands and a level path, or terminal pickup from the carrier, which is often the easiest answer for a shop with no dock. Residential delivery is available and carries a residential fee. Inspect the crate with the driver still on site and write any damage onto the delivery paperwork before signing; an unqualified signature is what turns a straightforward damage claim into an uphill one. Warehouse pickup is offered at the locations listed further down this page.

Warranty

One warranty document covers the manufacturer's product range. Ask us and we will send you the current version for this model rather than paraphrasing a term you would then be relying on. Whatever the term, the same practical rule applies as on any powered equipment: open the claim before anybody dismantles the machine. A pump or heater that has already been pulled and inspected is very difficult to warrant, and that inspection is the most frequent reason a valid claim becomes a negotiation.
