Description
-Ranger R26FLT Heavy-Duty Truck Tire Changer / Joystick Control
Most tire changers are air machines with a hydraulic bead breaker bolted on. The R26FLT is the other way round: it is an electric-hydraulic machine throughout. A bi-directional hydraulic motor turns the chuck, a hydraulic sled carriage moves the tooling, the clamping chuck is hydraulic and self-centring, and the spreader jaws are hydraulically operated. All of it is commanded from a portable joystick control unit the operator carries to wherever the view is best.
That matters on truck work specifically. Hydraulic drive delivers smooth, continuous torque at low speed in either direction — it does not lurch, and it does not run out of push halfway through a stiff commercial sidewall the way a pneumatic system does when the tank pressure sags. On a 63" tire, the ability to stop, reverse an inch, and continue is the difference between a controlled job and a damaged rim.
Capacity: what actually fits
Rim diameter is 14" to 26" (356 mm – 660 mm). Maximum tire and wheel diameter is 63" (1,600 mm), and maximum tire and wheel width is 31" (787 mm). That envelope covers commercial truck and bus wheels, agricultural tires and off-road wheels, and it comfortably includes light truck work at the bottom of the range — the same machine handles both ends of a mixed fleet.
Clamping is where truck wheels are usually lost. The self-centring hydraulic chuck grips either from the centre bore of the wheel or from the inside, so an alloy with no useful outer flange and a steel rim with a deep centre are both held properly rather than approximately. The hydraulically operated spreader jaws extend that to off-road style wheels which do not present a conventional clamping surface at all.
The bead breaker and the mount/demount head
Bead breaking on commercial tires is a slow, brute-force job on the wrong machine. Here a powerful air cylinder drives the bead breaker blade, with quick set-up so the tool reaches the bead without a fight, and the whole spindle, chuck and mount/demount head assembly rotates, raises and lowers hydraulically under operator control.
The mount/demount arm is a swift-positioning, locking design — it goes where it is needed and stays there under load, which is the property that decides whether a technician trusts the machine enough to work at speed. Ranger's tire machines use forged, hardened and ground components in these positions specifically to resist the scoring and grooving that eventually puts play into a changer's tooling.
Built as one piece
The frame is a single-piece welded steel body. A tire changer's accuracy is really its rigidity: every flex in the frame under load shows up as the tooling wandering relative to the wheel, and a fabricated multi-piece frame develops that flex over years of commercial use. One piece is the durable answer, and the sealed components and aluminium-alloy air cylinders around it are chosen for the same reason — this is a machine expected to stand in a wet, dirty bay for a decade.
Will It Fit?
The machine runs on a 3 HP motor at 220 VAC, 50-60 Hz — a real electrical supply that needs planning rather than a wall socket. Confirm the circuit with your electrician before delivery; that confirmation is the customer's responsibility, and it is the most common reason a machine of this size sits crated in a corner for a fortnight.
Delivery is the other planning job. It arrives at 1,425 lbs. (646 kg), crated at 63" x 80" x 38" (1,600 mm x 2,032 mm x 965 mm). That is a tall, heavy crate: measure the doorway, the turn and the height of anything it must pass under before you order.
Then plan the bay around the work rather than the machine. A truck tire changer needs room for a tire to be rolled in, laid down, stood up and rolled out, plus the space for the operator to stand back with the portable control while the wheel turns. The machine's footprint is the smaller half of the space it actually needs.
Perfect For
- Commercial truck and bus tire shops — this is the machine's core work, and the joystick control is aimed squarely at floor-to-floor time.
- Fleet workshops running their own service in-house rather than calling a mobile provider.
- Agricultural and off-road dealers — the spreader jaws exist for wheels ordinary clamps cannot hold.
- High-volume tire centres adding truck capability alongside a passenger-car changer.

Certification, honestly
This product's data claims no independent safety listing, and we are not going to add one to the page to fill the space. A manufacturer's own declaration of conformity is a different document from a third-party laboratory listing of the finished machine, and on hard-wired commercial equipment some insurers, fleet safety policies and workplace inspectors ask specifically for the second.
If your operation has that requirement — and fleet and municipal buyers frequently do — tell us before you order and we will confirm what documentation Ranger issues for this model, in writing, rather than let you assume.
Shipping and delivery
Crated freight to the lower 48 states, quoted live at checkout against your own address rather than estimated from a table.
At 1,425 lbs. this needs proper unloading equipment, so decide before you order how it comes off the truck. The driver's responsibility ends at the tailgate: a forklift or a loading dock is what you want on site, and a pallet jack alone is not enough for a crate this tall. Without either, take terminal pickup and collect it from the carrier's yard with your own equipment. A home address is a residential delivery and carries a residential fee. In-person collection is available from the pickup locations listed further down this page.
Inspect it before signing. Damage recorded on the bill of lading in front of the driver is claimable; the same damage reported after a clean signature usually is not. On a tall crate, check the top corners and the control unit's carton in particular.
Warranty
The Ranger warranty document that applies to this machine is linked in the downloads on this page. Read the term and its conditions there — that document, not a summary from us, is what a claim is settled against.
One rule of ours protects it: if the hydraulic system develops a fault, leave it assembled and call us. Once a hydraulic motor or a cylinder has been opened, nobody can establish what failed first or whether contamination came before or after, and a claim on a stripped system is a very difficult conversation.
