-Ranger Elevated ATV Wheel Clamps: the point is the height, not just the range
Anyone who has tried to mount an ATV rear wheel on a rim-clamp changer knows the problem. The wheel will physically fit, but the sprocket, hub or brake carrier on the back of it fouls the turntable, so the wheel cannot sit flat and the jaws cannot get a square grip. The usual workaround is a set of sprocket adapters and a lot of patience.
These clamps solve it differently. They fit over the existing turntable jaws on the Ranger R745 tire changer and raise the clamping plane, so the wheel is elevated above the solid rim-clamp table. With that clearance underneath, a rear wheel can be clamped with its sprocket or hub still on it — the adapters that used to be mandatory become unnecessary. The extra 4" of external clamping range is real and useful, but the elevation is the feature that changes which jobs you can take.
Will They Fit Your Changer?
- Machine: this set is made for the Ranger NextGen R745 tire changer and installs over that machine's standard turntable clamping jaws.
- Installation: the adapters go on over the existing jaws rather than replacing them, so the changer returns to normal car-wheel duty by taking them back off. Quick-release, spring-loaded locking pins hold them to the table.
- Range: they add 4" to the maximum external wheel diameter the table can clamp.
- Other machines: if you run a different Ranger changer, ask before ordering. Clamp adapters are matched to a specific jaw geometry and a set that nearly fits is a set that will let go of a wheel under bead-breaking load.
Why plastic grips on a steel adapter
The adapters themselves are heavy steel with an anodized finish, because they take the full clamping force of the table and the reaction load of a bead being broken. What touches the wheel, though, is plastic. That is a deliberate pairing: steel where strength is needed, a softer material where the wheel is.
It matters more on this kind of work than on passenger cars. Motorcycle and ATV wheels are frequently polished, painted or anodized aluminum, and they are usually a customer's pride rather than an appliance. A steel jaw biting directly on a rim leaves marks that no amount of good tyre fitting will make up for. Plastic grips are what let you clamp hard enough to be safe without paying for a refinish.
Quick-release pins, and the reason they exist
Spring-loaded locking pins mean the set goes on and comes off in seconds without tools. That sounds like a convenience feature and it is really a safety one: adapters that are awkward to remove get left on, and a set of raised clamps left in place under a car wheel is a poor grip on a heavy wheel. Making the changeover trivial is what keeps the machine correctly configured for whatever is in front of it.
Perfect For
- Powersports dealers servicing ATV, UTV and motorcycle wheels on a changer they already own.
- General tire shops adding small-wheel work without buying a second machine.
- Rural and agricultural service, where quads and side-by-sides come in alongside trucks.
- Race and club support handling wheels with sprockets and hubs still fitted.
What's in the Box
- Four elevated clamp adapters, heavy steel with an anodized finish
- Plastic wheel grips on the contact faces
- Quick-release, spring-loaded locking pins
Ranger's data lists nothing else in the set. It is an accessory for a machine you already have — it does not include a changer, a bead breaker or a mount/demount head.

Certification and documentation
These are clamping adapters for a machine, not a lifting device, and our data claims no independent safety listing for them — we mention it because the absence of a listed mark on an accessory sometimes gets read as an oversight. Ranger's warranty document covering the set is linked on this page. If your workplace requires documented compatibility before an accessory is put into service, ask us and we will get the confirmation from Ranger in writing.
Shipping and delivery
We ship to the lower 48 states with the cost calculated at checkout for your address, so it reflects today's carrier pricing. A residential delivery carries a residential fee, shown before you pay. Collection is possible at the pickup locations listed on this page.
Inspect the packaging before you sign. Note any damage on the delivery paperwork at that moment — a clean signature records the shipment as arriving intact and makes a later claim much harder. Photograph it, note it, and message us the same day.
Warranty
Coverage is set out in Ranger's warranty document, linked on this page. Do not modify a clamp adapter to fit a machine it was not made for: grinding or drilling one alters the geometry that holds a wheel securely, ends the coverage, and creates a genuine hazard on a machine that applies serious force. If you need a set for a different changer, ask us and we will find out what exists.
