Description
-It uses no motor power at all on the way down
The PL-6000DC lowers on gravity. The platform's own weight drives the descent through the hydraulics, and the electric motor does nothing until you ask it to lift again. On a service lift that would be a curiosity. On a parking lift — a machine that may cycle several times a day, every day, for twenty years, in a building where somebody is paying the electricity bill — it is half the running cost gone, and half the motor duty cycle with it.
The second decision that shapes this lift is structural rather than electrical: the posts can be ganged, so two lifts standing side by side share a column instead of each bringing its own. In a car park, a dealership yard or an apartment basement, that shared post is floor space you get to sell, rent or use.
What ganging actually buys you
A row of independent two-post parking lifts wastes a column's worth of width at every join, plus the clearance either side of it. Ganged installation removes that repetition: the run gets shorter for the same number of cars, and the structure gets cheaper because you buy fewer posts. Ganged two or wide, the arrangement is freestanding.
It also changes how you plan. Each platform stops at different heights to suit different vehicles and ceilings, so a low-clearance basement bay and a taller one can sit in the same run without compromising the whole installation to the lowest roof. Full-width channel-locked centre panels protect the vehicle underneath, and the platform is galvanised and corrugated so it grips wet tyres.
Two figures to confirm before you order
Published figures for this lift differ on two points, and both are the kind that decide an installation rather than a preference.
| Figure | Published specification sheet | This product listing |
|---|---|---|
| Electrical supply required | 220-420V, 1 or 3 Phase, 50/60Hz | 208-240V, single or three phase |
| Lifting height | 82.5” (2,100 mm) | 83" |
The electrical one is the serious one. A three-phase supply at the top of that range and a single-phase supply at the bottom are not the same installation, not the same cable, and not the same conversation with an electrician — and this is a decision made before the concrete is drilled. Ask us to confirm the supply requirement in writing before you order, and we will get it from the manufacturer for the exact configuration you are buying. The height difference is half an inch, and both figures are shown here because in a basement half an inch is occasionally the whole problem.
Will It Fit?
- Overall height. 131” (3,327.4mm). Measure your ceiling against this, including ducting, sprinkler heads and lighting.
- Footprint. 148.25” (3,766 mm) long by 100.25” (2,547 mm) wide per lift — less per lift where columns are shared.
- Usable platform width. 82.5” (2,100 mm), wide enough for pickups and vans as well as cars.
- Lifting height. See the table above, and plan against the lower of the two figures until it is confirmed. Cycle times are roughly 50 seconds up and 45 seconds down under typical load.
- Control voltage. Operator controls and lock release run at 24v, which is a safety decision: the thing a person touches every day is low voltage, whatever the supply behind it.
The lift is designed for installation on typical parking surfaces, and the manufacturer supplies floorplan and foundation drawings with the manual and video. Our record does not state a concrete thickness or strength; that requirement is in those drawings and we will confirm it in writing on request. Verifying the slab, the headroom and the electrical supply is the buyer's responsibility, and on a ganged run it is worth doing with the drawings in hand rather than a tape measure alone.
Cylinders instead of chains
Most parking lifts of this type raise the platform with chains or a screw mechanism. The PL-6000DC uses dual telescoping direct-drive hydraulic cylinders instead, which removes a whole category of maintenance: no chain to stretch, tension, lubricate or replace, and no screw to wear. Fewer moving parts also means less to go out of adjustment across a ganged run, where one lift lagging behind its neighbour is immediately visible.
The cylinders are industrial-grade, with a single-piece pilot-fitted machined steel piston carrying pressure-loaded U-cup seals, backups and wear bands to eliminate fluid bypass. Bypass is what makes an ageing hydraulic lift creep down overnight, which on a parking lift is not a service call — it is a car resting on something it should not be resting on.
What holds the platform up
Load-holding devices engage automatically and lock the structure as the lift raises, so a suspension component failure cannot become a free fall. Standard practice is to raise past your working height and lower back onto the locks, taking the load off the suspension components entirely — on a parking lift, where the car is up for weeks rather than minutes, that is the design intent rather than good habit. Mechanical safety locks are spaced every 4 inches.
Around that sit the things that matter in a shared installation: an automatic locking system that holds during a power outage, electrical protection against overload and improper voltage, an emergency stop, an upper limit switch, a pressure relief valve, a pressure-compensated flow control valve for level lifting, and an electric key switch so the lift cannot be operated by whoever walks past. It shuts off automatically when the operator lets go of the key switch. A manual lock release for use during a power failure is optional, and worth serious thought if the lift is going somewhere without a generator.
Perfect For
- Residential garages doubling the parking in a single bay.
- Apartment and office buildings increasing parking density without building more structure.
- Dealerships and rental fleets storing stock compactly and retrievably.
- Long-term and seasonal storage, where gravity descent and locks that hold through a power cut both earn their keep.
What's in the Box
From this model's own feature list: the ganged-capable two-column structure with a galvanised, corrugated anti-slip platform and full-width channel-locked centre panels, dual direct-drive telescoping hydraulic cylinders, the overhead power unit, automatic safety locks with the anti-fall device, maintenance-free composite carriage bearings, the electric key switch with automatic shut-off, hydraulic overloading protection, and the installation manual with floorplan and foundation drawings and video. The manual lock release for power failures is listed as optional — decide about it at order time.

Certification, stated honestly
Our record for this lift carries no third-party safety listing, and we would rather write that plainly than leave an impression.
It matters here more than on most products, because parking lifts are frequently installed in buildings other people live and work in. An independent North American lift safety listing means an outside body has examined the design and listed the product; a manufacturer's own declaration is a different document and does not stand in for one. Building control, an insurer or a landlord may well ask which you have before signing off a shared installation. If that is your situation, ask us in writing before you order.
Shipping and delivery
Freight only, to the lower 48 states, priced live at checkout for your own address — which is why no shipping figure appears on this page.
Delivery is kerbside. Arrange unloading first: a forklift and an operator on site, or collection from the freight terminal, which for a crate this size is often the easier route. Warehouse pickup is available for this brand from our BendPak locations, and a residential address carries a residential fee. Inspect the shipment before you sign and write any damage onto the bill of lading at the time — a clean signature makes a later claim very hard to win.
Warranty
The manufacturer's warranty document is linked on this page; read the term and the exclusions there rather than any summary of them. Whatever the terms, never dismantle a component you intend to claim on — photograph the fault, leave it assembled and contact us first. A stripped part is the usual reason a sound claim is refused.
