BendPak 1302BAS 3-Button Control Pipe Bender, Deluxe 302 Die Package
The difference between this bender and BendPak's manual models is where your hands are during a bend. The 1302BAS runs on a three-button control with remote foot-operated controls, so the cycle is driven from the pedal while both hands stay on the tube. On a production bench that is not a luxury — the operator who can hold and index the pipe through the bend is the operator who gets a repeatable part on the first attempt instead of the second.
Underneath the controls it is a serious hydraulic machine: a rigid 6 in. x 6 in. x 3/8 in. welded-steel tube frame, commercial-grade cylinders with chrome-molly shafts, and a top cylinder rated at 60,000 lbs. (27,216 kg) of force, driven by a 5 HP motor through a direct-drive 4 gpm pump. This listing is the configuration supplied with the deluxe 302 die package.
Will It Fit?
The machine measures 41 in. (1,041 mm) wide and 64 in. (1,626 mm) deep, with a third listed dimension of 26 in. (660 mm). A note on that third figure: BendPak's own specification block labels both 64 in. and 26 in. as Depth, while our product record stores 26 in. (660 mm) as the overall height. If clearing a bench, a mezzanine or a roll-up door is at stake, ask us to confirm against the current factory drawing before you order.
Electrically it needs 208-230 VAC, 60 Hz, single phase — a dedicated hard-wired circuit, arranged before delivery rather than after. Leave standing room at the rear for the two end-finishing units, and clear floor to the side for tube longer than the finished part. Industrial-grade casters are fitted so the bender can be moved once it is inside, but it lands as a 1,362 lbs. crated machine and needs unloading; see the shipping section below.
Three buttons, one pedal, and why that matters
Semi-automatic control does two things for a shop. It removes a variable — the bend is driven by the control rather than by how hard someone leans on a handle — and it frees the operator's hands for the part. Combined with twist-lock tooling and quick-release bending dies, a die change stops being the interruption that defines your cycle time. The pass-through cylinder stem runs completely through the primary frame, so the ram retracts clear for a die swap or to pull a finished piece out, and enclosed controls keep the bending area free of clutter you would otherwise be reaching over.
The 1302BAS also carries an integrated power-relief control valve and an adjustable pressure valve mounted at the front of the machine, with pressure gauges in view so the operator can see system pressure rather than infer it. A NEMA-rated on/off switch box with overload relays cuts the supply automatically on an unexpected over-current event.
Bending capacity, radius and die design
Maximum tube capacity is 3 in. (76 mm) at .095 wall. The maximum bending radius is 5 in. (127 mm) and the minimum is 3.3 in. (89 mm). Bends run past 170°, and if you need a full U-turn there is a 180° die available — worth asking about at the time of order rather than discovering later.
The part of the die that earns its keep is the relief cut. It supports the tube through the whole cycle so the bend stays uniform instead of crimping or deforming on the inner wall, which on an exhaust system is a measurable restriction and not just a cosmetic problem. Bending heads are precision-ground to within .002 in., dies are heat-treated for service life, and the one-piece barrel keeps the bending gates aligned with the ram so that precision does not quietly drift out over a few thousand cycles.
Swaging, expanding and flaring at the same station
Two separate end-finishing units sit at the rear: a high-speed clampless swager and an internal expander. Together they cover I.D. and O.D. expansions, slip-fits, flares, ball-joints and manifold flanges — the operations that otherwise send a part to a second machine or, more often, to a compromise. The swager uses a drop-in collar rather than a conventional vise, which sets faster and grips harder as pressure rises.
The hydraulics are specified for continuous work rather than occasional use: 2.5 in. oversized barrel shafts, a large-capacity reservoir that keeps oil temperature down on a long run, a canister filter to keep the oil clean, oil sight-gauges for a visual check, and standard grease fittings so lubrication is a two-minute job. A single enclosed bottom cylinder applies pressure evenly to the back gates and, because it is hidden, never interferes with the tubing.
Perfect For
- High-volume exhaust and muffler shops where cycle time and repeatability decide the day's throughput.
- Fabrication shops running batches, where a foot-pedal cycle and a hands-free operator materially improve consistency.
- Fleet and municipal garages building their own pipework instead of waiting on parts.
- Shops moving up from a manual bender who already know what die-change time is costing them.

Standards, stated plainly
The single standard BendPak's data claims for this machine is a component one: the cylinders use chrome-molly shafts conforming to ANSI 92.2. That is a shaft and materials specification, not a machine-level third-party safety listing, and we will not dress it up as one. The NEMA-rated switch box with overload relays is a real electrical safety feature and, likewise, not a listing. If your insurer or your local authority requires a particular machine-level approval for shop equipment, send us the wording and we will check it against BendPak's documentation before you commit to the purchase.
Shipping and delivery
Freight only, to the lower 48 states, with the rate quoted live at checkout for your address rather than printed here where it would go stale. The bender crates at 1,362 lbs., so you need a forklift, a loading dock or a plan — or take terminal pickup, which for a single crated machine is often the simplest route. Residential delivery is available and carries a fee. Warehouse pickup is offered as well; the BendPak pickup locations appear further down this page.
Inspect the crate at delivery and note any damage on the bill of lading before you sign, with the driver present. A clean signature makes a later freight claim very hard to pursue, and a photograph taken on the dock costs nothing.
Warranty
BendPak publishes one warranty document covering its entire product line rather than a term per model, so we will send you the current copy on request instead of quoting a figure this page cannot support. Whatever the document says, do not disassemble a component you plan to claim on — a stripped cylinder or pump is the usual reason a valid claim gets refused. Call us first and we will tell you what the manufacturer needs to see.
