-Atlas TC306 Tire Changer and WBT-210 Balancer: The Machine Positions the Tools
On most truck tire changers the operator positions the bead breaker disc and the mount/demount head by hand, and on a tire the size of an earthmover's that is heavy, slow, awkward work repeated on every wheel. The TC306 does it under power. A wired mobile control unit drives the bead tool, the carriage and the chuck arm into position automatically, and the operator stands where they can see the bead rather than where the handle is.
That single difference is what separates this machine from the rest of the Atlas truck line, and it is why the pairing makes sense: the automated changer for the heavy end of the work, and the computerised WBT-210 spin balancer to finish it.
What the TC306 Will Actually Take
Rims are clamped from 14" to 46" directly, and to 56" using the supplied clamping extensions — that is the range that reaches agricultural and earthmover rubber rather than stopping at commercial truck sizes. Tire diameters run in excess of 97"; the specification table gives a maximum of 98" (8' 2"). The chuck is an electric/hydraulic self-centring four-jaw design with five different rim locking positions and two speeds.
The numbers behind the work are worth reading. Clamping power is 13,173 lbs and bead breaker force is 5,930 lbs, at an operating pressure of 0 to 1885 PSI, with a maximum wheel weight of 3,968 lbs. Construction is a single-piece frame with a solid floor plate, which is what those forces are reacting against — a bead breaker pushing with nearly three tons has to have something to push from. Acoustic pressure is under 70dBA, which is a genuine consideration in a bay where this machine runs all day.
Confirm the Maximum Tire Width First
Published figures for the maximum tire width differ in the manufacturer's material for this machine:
| Figure | Where it is stated | Value |
|---|---|---|
| Maximum tire width | Product overview and feature list | 53" |
| Max tire width | Specification table below | 42" (3' 6") |
If wide rubber is why you are buying this machine, confirm the figure with us before you order and we will get it from Atlas in writing. Everything else in the two documents agrees.
Power, and the Thing to Check First
This is a 220 volt, 3 phase machine. The hydraulic motor is 3 HP and the chuck motor 3.5 to 4 HP, both at 220v within ±5% — that is 209 to 231 volts — with a 30 amp breaker required. Three-phase supply is the first thing to confirm, before floor space, before anything: a shop without it needs a converter or a different machine, and that is a conversation to have now rather than on delivery day. The machine ships at 2,260 lbs.
The WBT-210: One Balancer for the Whole Yard
The point of pairing this balancer with a truck changer is that it does not force you to own two balancers. It will take a 14 inch steel rim off a pickup and it will take a semi-truck tire weighing 300 pound, on the same shaft. Oversized custom wheels around 32 inch and the deep-lug mud tires that go with them are within its range too.
The shaft is 40mm, heavy duty, and it accepts the standard mounting cones used for cars and light trucks. Large truck adapters are included in the package, which is what lets the operator mount and balance most BUDD style wheels without buying anything else. A pneumatic wheel lift is fitted — external air supply required, and not included — because lifting a truck tire onto a shaft by hand is how backs get injured.
The measurement side is computer controlled: static and dynamic balancing modes, rapid optimization, self-diagnosis and self-calibration, accuracy to 1 gram, weight position resolution of 1.4 degrees and a 7 second cycle time at 130 RPM. Data entry is Super Automatic 3D, readings display in grams or ounces and in mm or inches, and the machine starts and stops automatically as the hood is lowered and raised. It runs on 110 volt and ships at 290 lbs.
Will It Fit?
- Power for the changer. 220v three-phase, 30 amp breaker, tolerance 209 to 231 volts. Confirm with a licensed electrician before ordering.
- Power for the balancer. 110 volt, an ordinary supply.
- Air. The balancer's wheel lift needs an external air supply, which is not part of the package.
- Floor. The changer has a solid floor plate and a single-piece frame at 2,260 lbs; site it on sound concrete with clear working radius for a tire up to 98" (8' 2") across, which is a bigger circle than most people picture.
- Your responsibility. Supply, air and floor are the buyer's to confirm before delivery.
Perfect For
- Truck and trailer service centres doing volume tire work where handling time per wheel is the cost that matters.
- Agricultural and earthmover dealers — the 56" clamping range with extensions is the reason.
- Mixed fleet operations running everything from pickups to over-the-road tractors, balanced on one machine.
- Shops with three-phase power already in place.

A Note on the Comparison in the Manufacturer's Copy
Atlas's own description says the deluxe TTC306 has identical features to truck tire changers costing over $20,000. That is the manufacturer's claim about the market rather than ours, and it is repeated here because it has been part of this listing. Judge it against the specification table on this page, which is where the checkable numbers are.
Certification
The product data for this package does not claim an independent third-party safety listing, and we are not going to imply one. For wheel service equipment this is less often a purchasing requirement than it is for vehicle lifts, but it does come up in some fleet contracts and some insurance schedules. If a listing is required of you, ask for it to be named in writing and speak to us before you order so we can check the position with Atlas.
Shipping and Delivery
Freight to the lower 48 states, in two pieces: the changer at 2,260 lbs and the balancer at 290 lbs. The changer needs a forklift at the receiving end — plan for it, because a delivery driver will not unload it and cannot. Terminal pickup and warehouse pickup are both available if your site cannot take the freight.
Delivery to a residential address carries a residential fee. Freight is quoted live at checkout from your ZIP code, so what you are shown is the current rate for your lane.
Two crates means two things to count and two things to inspect. Check both before signing, and put any damage on the bill of lading in front of the driver — the accessory carton is the one most often short, and it is the one carrying the adapters and cones you need on day one.
Warranty
Both machines carry a 1 Year Parts Only warranty. Replacement parts and wear items for the balancer are always in stock, which for a machine that earns money every hour is the specification that matters most after the first year. Terms and the claim process are on our warranty claims page.
If something fails, do not dismantle it before the claim is opened. A hydraulic chuck or a balancer head that has already been taken apart is the usual reason a genuine fault ends up outside cover. Photograph it, describe what happened, and call us first.
