Description
-Atlas TTC305A + WBT-210: an automatic truck changer paired with a balancer that stops well short of it
This package drops two quite different machines into one bay. The Atlas TTC305A is a fully automatic truck tire changer — its specification sheet lists tool arm positioning and tool head positioning as automatic, so the bead tool, the carriage and the chuck arm all travel and locate under power rather than being muscled into place. The Atlas WBT-210 alongside it is a computer spin balancer built heavy enough for over-the-road truck wheels.
The thing the manufacturer copy never says out loud is that the two machines do not cover the same envelope. The changer accepts a considerably bigger and heavier wheel than the balancer will spin. That is not a defect, but it decides which jobs go through the whole cell and which only get as far as the changer.
Will It Fit?
Neither machine anchors to a ceiling or needs a drive-through, so fitment here is a question of electrical service, compressed air, floor and unloading rather than headroom.
- Power for the changer. The TTC305A carries two motors on 220v single phase: a 2 HP hydraulic motor and a 3 HP chuck motor. Both are specified at plus or minus 5% (209-231 volts) with a 30 amp breaker required. Treat that as a dedicated circuit run by an electrician, not an existing outlet you hope will cope.
- Power for the balancer. The WBT-210 runs on 110volt. It does not need its own 220v drop and does not have to share the changer's circuit.
- Compressed air. The balancer's pneumatic wheel lift needs an external air supply and that supply is not included. If your only air line is at the far wall, plan the drop before delivery day — the wheel lift is the feature that makes a 165 lb assembly a one-person job, and without air you are lifting it by hand.
- Floor and noise. The changer is a single-piece frame with a solid floor plate, rated under 70dBA. Atlas publishes no concrete thickness or PSI rating for either machine, so we do not state one; if your slab is thin, cracked or a coated topping, ask your installer before the crate arrives.
- Getting it off the truck. The changer ships at 1,490 lbs and the balancer at 290 lbs. Those are two separate handling problems and only one of them is a two-person lift.
Confirming the circuits, the breaker, the air line and the unloading equipment is the buyer's responsibility. We would far rather answer a measuring question in advance than have a machine standing in a crate waiting for an electrician.
What "fully automatic" actually buys you
On a passenger changer, automation is a convenience. On a truck changer it is an injury argument: the operations that hurt people are the ones where a technician leans into a tool arm to hold position while the chuck turns. On the TTC305A the bead tool, the carriage and the chuck arm all move and hold under power, driven from a mounted control unit with additional foot pedal controls — hands free at the point where hands are most at risk.
Underneath that sits an electric/hydraulic self-centering four jaw chuck with five rim locking positions. Self-centering matters because it removes the guesswork from mounting an alloy rim square, and five locking positions matter because a truck shop sees far more rim profiles than a tyre bay does. The chuck develops 6,600 lbs of clamping power and the bead breaker 3,990 lbs of force, working from a hydraulic system operating between 0 and 1,885 PSI.
The envelope mismatch, stated plainly
The TTC305A clamps rims from 13" to 26", drops to 8" with the alloy adapters, and will take a tire up to 55" in diameter, 30 1/2" wide and a wheel weighing up to 838 lbs.
The WBT-210 tops out at a 43" tire on a rim of 10" to 30", with a maximum wheel weight of 165 lbs.
So the balancer is the limiting partner, by a wide margin on weight. The manufacturer copy frames the WBT-210 as covering everything from a 14 inch steel rim up to a 300 lb semi-truck tire, and it does handle large 32 inch custom wheels and oversized off-road tires. What it will not do is spin the heaviest assembly the changer next to it can hold. If your work is genuinely at the top of the changer's range every day, budget for that honestly rather than discovering it in week two.
Why the balancer is still the right partner
The WBT-210 runs a 40mm heavy duty shaft, which is why it takes standard mounting cones for cars and pickups and also the large truck adapters included here for BUDD style wheels. It spins at 130 RPM, resolves weight position to 1.4 degrees, reads to 1 gram, and self-diagnoses and self-calibrates rather than drifting quietly out of true. One balancer, one shaft, one set of controls — cars in the morning, a tractor unit in the afternoon.
Perfect For
- Truck and trailer shops doing volume work on standard over-the-road assemblies, where the automatic tool positioning pays for itself in operator fatigue alone.
- Mixed fleet operators running everything from passenger cars and light trucks to tractor/trailer rigs, who need one cell rather than two.
- Farm, municipal and contractor yards servicing their own wheels rather than sending them out.
- Tire retailers adding a commercial line to an existing passenger bay.
What's in the Box
From the manufacturer's own feature list for the two machines:
- With the changer: interchangeable mount/demount and roller heads, a heavy duty tire tool, rim clamps for steel and alloy wheels, and an alloy rim adapter set with plastic inserts.
- With the balancer: cone sets for car and light truck tires, a cone and spacer set for truck, bus or implement tires, a plastic quick release nut, a heavy-duty steel wing nut, wheel weight pliers and a wheel width caliper.
- Not included: the external air supply for the balancer's pneumatic wheel lift.
Atlas states that replacement parts and wear items for the balancer are kept in stock. On a machine earning five days a week, parts availability is a specification rather than a footnote.

Certification, honestly
Atlas publishes no third-party safety listing for either machine in the data we hold, so we do not badge one. That is a smaller question on tire equipment than on a vehicle lift, because no equivalent North American third-party listing programme exists for truck tire changers. If your insurer, fleet policy or local jurisdiction wants specific documentation, ask us before ordering and we will get what the manufacturer can supply.
Shipping and delivery
Freight only, lower 48. You must be able to take it off the truck: a forklift, a loading dock, or a terminal pickup you collect yourself. Residential delivery carries a residential fee, quoted live at checkout along with the freight, because freight pricing moves and a printed number goes stale.
Inspect before you sign. Walk the crates, look at the corners and the shrink wrap, and note any damage on the bill of lading in front of the driver. A signed clean BOL is a statement that it arrived undamaged, and it is very hard to unwind afterwards. Two crates arrive here, at 1,490 lbs and 290 lbs; check both.
Warranty
Both machines carry a 1 year parts only warranty from Atlas — the part is covered, the labour to fit it is not.
One rule that protects your claim: do not disassemble a machine before the claim is agreed. A stripped unit is very often the end of a warranty conversation. Photograph it, call us, and let the process run first.
