Description
-Atlas TC289 and WB11: A Two-Machine Tire Bay With Nothing Bolted to the Floor
The quiet advantage of this pairing is that neither machine asks you to modify the building. The WB11 balancer requires no anchor-down installation at all, and the TC289 changer needs an air line and a standard 110volt outlet. If you have a compressor and a level slab, you have a tire bay — and if the bay layout changes next year, the machines move with it.
That matters more than it sounds. Anchoring is what turns a piece of equipment into a building alteration, and it is the step that most often stalls a shop between delivery and first use.
Before You Order
- Compressed air is not optional. The changer's jaws and bead breaker are air-driven. Supply 90-110 PSI and keep it below 140 PSI; the machine has a firm upper limit and exceeding it is not covered by anything. A filter, regulator and oiler are supplied with the machine.
- Electrical. 110volt for both units. Single phase, ordinary shop power.
- Space. Allow clearance to swing the changer's arm away from the column, and enough room at the balancer for the hood to rise. The largest tire the changer will take is 47" across, so plan the walk-around, not just the footprint.
- Getting them off the truck. The changer ships at 620 lbs and the balancer at 355 lbs. Decide now whether that is a forklift, a dock, or a run to the freight terminal.
Why the Turntable Size Comes First
Most of what a tire machine can and cannot do is decided by its table. The TC289 clamps externally from 11 7/8" out to 28", with the jaws movable to three separate mounting positions, and internally out to 29 7/8". The practical result is that big-diameter wheels — the ones that show up on trucks, large SUVs and aftermarket packages — get clamped properly rather than balanced on the edge of the range.
Force is the other half. The bead breaker delivers 5,500 lb against a plate that adjusts to the wheel, and the table itself turns under a 1 HP motor at 885 ft/lbs. A built-in Beadblaster is there for tires that will not seat: a sudden volume of air into the tire well rather than more pressure through the valve.
Reading What the Balancer Tells You
The WB11 is computer controlled and motorized. It spins the wheel at 150 RPM, resolves imbalance to 1 gram, and places the correction to within 1.4 degrees — close enough that the weight goes where the readout says rather than approximately there. Static and dynamic modes cover single-plane and two-plane work, and a rapid optimization function can be run when repositioning the tire on the rim will cancel some imbalance mechanically instead of adding lead.
It takes rims 10" to 32" in diameter and 1 1/2" to 20" in width on a 40mm shaft, with a 150 lbs maximum wheel weight and a 1/4 HP drive. Wheel dimensions are entered by hand on this model. Readouts switch between grams and ounces and between millimetres and inches, the hood starts and stops the cycle as it is lowered and raised, and there is both an automatic brake and a foot pedal so the wheel stays put while weights are applied. It self-diagnoses and self-calibrates rather than needing a service visit to stay honest.
Perfect For
- Farms and homeowners with a fleet of their own equipment and no tire shop within a sensible drive.
- Small and mid-size shops bringing tire work in-house on existing single-phase power.
- Busy general repair bays that need the wheel side of a brake or suspension job finished on site.
- Rented or leased premises where drilling the floor is a conversation you would rather not have.
In the Crates
Changer side: oiler, filter and regulator, plastic protectors, a tire tool, a lube bucket and brush, and an inflation box with gauge. Balancer side: plastic quick-release nut, four centering cones, wheel weight pliers and measuring calipers. An external air supply is required and is not part of the package.

About the Certification
Both machines are CE approved — a manufacturer's declaration of conformity against European directives. It is not the same instrument as a North American third-party product safety listing, and we would rather say so than let the two blur together. Where an insurer, a landlord or a local inspector specifies equipment carrying a recognized third-party listing, check the exact wording of that requirement before you commit.
Freight and Receiving
Shipped as freight to the lower 48. You must be able to take roughly half a ton off a trailer: forklift, loading dock, or collect from the carrier's terminal. Residential delivery carries a residential fee, quoted live at checkout because freight pricing moves. Inspect the crates while the driver is still there and write any damage onto the bill of lading before signing — an unqualified signature makes a later claim very difficult.
Warranty
Each machine carries the Atlas 1 year parts only warranty: components are covered, labor is not. If a fault appears within the term, call us first. Disassembling a unit before the claim is raised is the single most common way a covered failure stops being covered.
