Description
-TC229 + WB41: the pairing where the balancer is the upgrade
Put the two Atlas tyre-and-wheel combinations side by side and the changer is the same machine. The difference is entirely on the balancer, and it is worth understanding before you choose. The WB41 adds a raised, easy-to-read display and a large wheel weight tray over the entry balancer in the range. Neither shows up as a number on a spec sheet, and both are what you interact with on every single wheel: a display at eye level rather than one you stoop to read, and a tray big enough that the weights live on the machine rather than in your pocket and on the floor.
Everything else here is a complete, self-contained tyre bay: the TC229 rim-clamp swing-arm changer with its built-in Beadblaster, and a computer-controlled motorised spin balancer. Both machines run on ordinary 110volt supply, both are CE approved, and both carry a 1 year parts only warranty.
Reading a balance you can actually trust
A balancer is only as good as the number it hands you, and this one is specified where it counts. Accuracy is 1 gram, and weight position resolution is 1.4 degrees — that second figure is the one people ignore and it matters just as much. Knowing you need eleven grams is useless if the machine can only tell you roughly where to put them; at 1.4 degrees you are placing weight within a few millimetres of arc on the rim, which is the difference between a wheel that comes back smooth and one that comes back for a second go.
The machine runs static and dynamic modes, has a rapid optimisation (OPT) routine for matching tyre and rim high spots, and is both self-diagnosing and self-calibrating. It displays in grams or ounces and in millimetres or inches, so it does not force a shop to change how it works. Balancing speed is 150 RPM, and the hood-operated automatic start/stop means the wheel cannot be spinning with the guard up.
No anchoring, and why that is a bigger deal than it sounds
The WB41 needs no anchor-down installation. It sits on the floor and works. For a leased unit, a converted garage, or a shop that expects to rearrange itself within the year, that removes the drilling, the anchors, and the argument with the landlord. It also means the machine can be relocated with a pallet truck rather than a contractor. Between the two machines in this package, nothing has to be bolted into your slab.
The TC229 side of the package
The changer is a rim-clamp, swing-arm machine with an electric turntable and air-operated jaws and bead breaker. It handles steel, aluminium and alloy rims, and its jaws relocate to three mounting positions along the turntable slide, which is how one machine covers a wide clamping window: externally 9 3/4" to 21 5/8", 10 3/4" to 22 1/2" or 11 5/8" to 23 1/4" depending on jaw position, and internally 11 5/8" to 23 1/4", 12 5/8" to 24 1/4" or 13 1/2" to 25 1/4". Maximum tyre diameter is 39", and maximum wheel width at the bead breaker is 13".
The built-in Beadblaster is the feature to understand. A stiff or cold tyre often will not begin to seat because air escapes past the bead as fast as the inflator supplies it; the Beadblaster releases a large volume in one burst, pushing both beads out to the flanges long enough for the inflator to take over. The turntable itself develops 885 ft/lbs of rotating torque from a 1 HP motor, and the bead breaker develops 5,500 LB of force.
What you also need: air
The changer's jaws and bead breaker are air operated and an external air supply is required and is not included. The machine wants 90-110 PSI and must not exceed 140 PSI. This is the single most common reason a new tyre bay disappoints its owner: the changer is fine, the compressor is not. Check yours can hold pressure under the bead breaker's draw before the freight arrives. A filter/regulator/lubricator is supplied with the changer.
Perfect For
- The homeowner with a real workshop who wants to do the whole job, not half of it.
- Small commercial shops adding tyre and balance work to general service.
- ATV and motorcycle dealers handling car and light-truck wheels alongside.
- Anyone replacing an old bubble balancer, where the display and weight tray are what you will notice first.
What's in the Box
With the changer: the column-mounted inflator box with gauge, the filter/regulator/lubricator, a 20" tyre tool, a lube bucket with brush, a set of large plastic jaw covers, a plastic cover for the bead breaker shovel, and multiple replacement plastic inserts for the mount/demount head. With the balancer: a plastic quick-release nut, 4 centering cones, wheel weight pliers and measuring calipers. Not included: an air compressor, and wheel weights.

Certification, honestly
Both machines are CE approved, and that is exactly what we will claim — no more. A CE marking is the manufacturer's own declaration that the equipment conforms to the applicable European directives. It is a real, meaningful statement about how the machine was designed and documented, and it is not the same document as a North American third-party listing, where an independent body tests the equipment and audits the factory on an ongoing basis. Some commercial insurance policies, some fleet operations and some local jurisdictions specifically require that second kind of listing on shop equipment. If yours does, verify the requirement with your insurer or inspector before you buy rather than after installation, and talk to us about it.
Shipping and delivery
This package ships freight within the lower 48 as two crated machines on pallets, delivered curbside. Getting them off the truck is the customer's responsibility, and this is a two-machine shipment rather than one — a forklift, or a dock and pallet truck, or a terminal pickup you collect from with your own equipment. Warehouse pickup is available at the locations listed further down this page. Residential delivery carries an additional fee, applied once per brand on the order. Inspect both crates before you sign anything: check the changer's column and turntable and the balancer's shaft and hood, and write any damage on the bill of lading in the driver's presence. A clean signature is very difficult to argue with afterwards.
Warranty
Both machines carry the 1 year parts only warranty — parts are covered, the labour to fit them is not. Do not dismantle a component before the claim is opened; disassembly is normally treated as an inspection you chose to carry out and can void the claim. Take the machine out of service, photograph the fault where it sits, and raise the claim on our warranty claims page.
