Triumph NTC-AS: motorcycle capability, and an honest trade you should know about first

These adapters bolt over the existing wheel clamp jaws on a Triumph tire changer and do two things at once: they shift the clamping range — out by 4" and down by 8" — and they raise the wheel above the turntable. That combination is what makes motorcycle and ATV wheels workable on a machine designed around car and light-truck rims.

Here is the part most listings leave until the last line, and we would rather it were the first thing you read: while the adapters are fitted, the bead blast system cannot be used. The adapters cover the air holes the blaster fires through. Nothing is damaged and nothing is permanent — take the adapters off and the blaster works as before — but a shop that plans to run bike wheels all morning should plan for the blaster to be unavailable for that morning. If that is a problem for your workflow, it is much better to know now than to discover it with a tire half-mounted.

The other honest caveat is fitment: this kit is designed for Triumph brand tire changers only. It is not a universal adapter set and we are not going to suggest it might fit something else.

What the range change actually buys you

Two numbers, pulling in opposite directions, and the smaller of them is the important one.

Down by 8". This is the reason the kit exists. Motorcycle and ATV rims are narrower and smaller in diameter than anything a car-oriented wheel clamp was built to hold, and the jaws simply do not close far enough to grip them securely. Reducing the minimum clamping range is what brings small wheels inside the machine's working envelope.

Out by 4". The complementary move at the other end, extending the outside clamping range so the modified jaws still cover a useful spread rather than trading one limitation for another.

Read together, they describe an accessory that repositions the machine's grip rather than simply widening it — which is why it is a kit rather than a pair of larger jaws.

Elevation above the turntable, and why it matters more than it sounds

The adapters also lift the wheel up off the turntable surface. On a car wheel that would be irrelevant; on a motorcycle wheel it is one of the main reasons the job goes smoothly.

A bike wheel is small in diameter and often carries a disc, a sprocket carrier or a cush drive standing proud of the rim face. Sitting flat on a turntable, those parts are the first thing to contact the table, and the wheel ends up supported on a brake rotor rather than on the rim — which is how rotors get bent and expensive wheels get marked. Raising the wheel clear gives those components somewhere to be, and it puts the bead at a height where the mount/demount head can reach it properly.

It also improves the ergonomics of the job in an obvious way: a small wheel raised nearer to working height is easier to see, easier to reach around and easier to control than one lying down at table level.

Installation and security

The adapters fit over the existing wheel clamp jaws and are locked down with a screw bolt so they cannot creep or shift while the table is turning. That fastening is not a detail to skip. A clamp component that moves under load turns a routine tire change into a wheel coming loose mid-rotation, and on a machine that develops real force through the turntable that is a genuine hazard rather than an inconvenience. Fit them, tighten them, and check the fastener before the first spin of the day.

The plastic wheel clamp covers can still be used alongside the motorcycle and ATV adapter kit, so wheels you would rather not mark are still protected.

Perfect For

  • Shops adding bike and ATV work. Extends a tire changer you already own rather than requiring a dedicated motorcycle machine.
  • Powersports dealers. A single kit covers the range of small wheels that arrives through the service door.
  • Rural and multi-purpose shops. ATV and utility wheels are ordinary work in a lot of places, and this is what makes them ordinary on a car changer.
  • Serious home garages. If you own a Triumph changer and you own bikes, this is the accessory that closes the gap.

What's in the Box

A motorcycle and ATV adapter kit for Triumph brand tire changers, fitting over the existing wheel clamp jaws and secured with a screw bolt. It is not a machine and it does not include one — you will need a Triumph tire changer such as the NTC-950. If you want the exact contents confirmed against your machine before you order, ask us first.

Certification, stated plainly

No third-party safety listing is claimed for this accessory in the data we hold, and this page does not imply one. Adapter tooling is rarely the subject of an equipment listing requirement, but if your insurer or local authority applies one to shop tooling, confirm it before ordering. Separately: use the kit within the machine manufacturer's instructions, and do not modify the adapters to make them fit a machine they were not built for.

Shipping and delivery

Shipping is quoted live at checkout for the address you enter, which is why no figure appears here. If the order also carries a tire changer or other palletised equipment, the shipment travels as freight within the lower 48 and the standard freight terms apply: unloading is the receiver's responsibility unless terminal pickup is selected, residential delivery carries a residential fee, and collection from our Triumph pickup warehouses is available.

Check it before you sign for it. Look over the packaging while the driver is still there and put any damage in writing on the bill of lading. Photograph anything that looks wrong and call us the same day — once a clean receipt is signed, the shipment is on record as having arrived in good order and a later claim becomes much harder to make.

Warranty

The manufacturer's warranty covers this kit; the current terms are on our warranty claims page. One rule applies to every claim: do not disassemble or modify a part before the claim has been filed. Leave it as it is, photograph it, and get in touch. A component that has been taken apart or altered can no longer be assessed, and an assessment is what the claim depends on.
