Quincy QGS 50 HP Tankless Rotary Screw Air Compressor, 230/460V 3-Phase

Part number 4152016900 is the version without an integrated air dryer, and that is a specification rather than an oversight. Plenty of facilities already run drying and filtration as a central system — a larger dryer sized for the whole plant, a desiccant stage for instrument air, or a treatment train serving several compressors. Buying air treatment a second time, packaged inside the compressor cabinet, is money spent on capacity you already have. This SKU exists so you do not have to.

What remains is a 50 HP gear-driven QGS rotary screw airend rated for a 100% duty cycle, supplied tankless, with an aftercooler fitted and the same Infologic2 control and enclosure as the rest of the range.

Will It Fit? Siting and power

Footprint. The cabinet measures 52" long, 37.7" wide and 61.3" tall, and weighs 1,184 lbs. That is a noticeably squarer, deeper cabinet than the dryer-equipped version of the same 50 HP machine, which is worth knowing if you are replacing an existing unit or working to a marked-out plinth — do not assume the dryer-equipped drawing applies. Leave service clearance at the hinged doors and detachable panels.

Electrical. Listed as 230/460 Volt AC, 3-Phase. The machine ships wired for 460V-3 with a kit supplied for 230V-3, and that conversion is licensed-electrician work rather than a site adjustment. Quincy publishes neither an amp draw nor a recommended breaker size — the specification says to consult a certified electrician, and we are not going to supply a figure it deliberately withholds. Your electrician sizes the feeder and the protection from the machine's own nameplate.

Downstream, and this one is on you. With no integrated dryer, whatever moisture the aftercooler does not condense out leaves the machine and goes into your pipework. If you do not already have drying downstream, you need to specify it. That is the trade this SKU makes, and it is much better understood before purchase than discovered when a tool or a finish is spoiled. Confirming the site, the supply, the ventilation and the air treatment is the customer's responsibility.

The case for treating air centrally

Air treatment built into a compressor is convenient and sized for that compressor. Air treatment built into a plant is sized for the plant. Once a facility runs more than one machine, or runs one machine feeding several very different demands, the second approach usually wins: one dryer to service rather than several, one set of consumables, and the ability to give instrument air or paint a drier standard than the shop line needs without over-specifying everything else. A tankless, dryer-less compressor is the right building block for that architecture — it contributes air and nothing else, and the storage and treatment decisions stay yours.

The corollary is worth stating plainly rather than hiding: this machine is not a complete air system on its own. Tank size is listed as 0 Gallons, so a receiver has to come from somewhere, and drying has to come from somewhere. If you want everything in one crate, buy the packaged version instead.

Gear drive and continuous running

The airend is gear driven. No belts means nothing to tension, nothing to replace on a schedule, and no slip losses between motor and airend — which matters most precisely on a machine intended to run without stopping. The 100% duty cycle rating is what makes that intention credible: it is designed for continuous operation rather than a percentage of each hour, so you size it against your steady demand instead of a peak it can only hold briefly.

Premium synthetic lubrication is specified for long runtime with low oil carryover, with constant fluid monitoring, spin-on fluid filters, an oil sight glass and low-oil shutdown on both engine and pump. The TEFC motor uses a Wye-Delta reduced voltage start, which softens inrush at every start rather than hammering the supply — on a 50 HP motor that is not a trivial detail for the rest of the building. A full sound enclosure keeps noise and vibration down, which is the whole basis of the quiet operation claim.

The Infologic2 Basic Controller is programmable, supports auto-restart and remote start/stop, and networks up to six QGS units. The display panel gives auto-run and alarm indication with pressure and temperature readings.

Perfect For

  • Plants with central air treatment. The reason this SKU exists — do not buy drying twice.
  • Facilities that already own a receiver. Tankless keeps the storage decision separate and yours.
  • High continuous demand. 50 HP at a 100% duty cycle rating.
  • Multi-compressor rooms. Networking up to six units under one controller.

What's in the Box

Quincy lists this package as the gear-driven QGS rotary screw compressor, the Infologic2 Basic Controller with display panel and the 100% duty cycle TEFC motor, with an aftercooler, oil sight glass, pressure gauge, air filter and low-oil shutdown on both engine and pump, plus the 230V-3 conversion kit for a machine shipped wired 460V-3. No receiver tank is supplied, no electronic drain valve is fitted, and no integrated air dryer is included on this SKU. Wiring, installation and commissioning are separate.

Certification ASME

Two rows above carry their unit in the row label with a bare figure in the cell, matching how the manufacturer's own specification block records them.

Certification, stated honestly

An ASME certification is recorded on the specification sheet for this unit. Since ASME coding normally attaches to a pressure vessel and this SKU is supplied tankless, the practical question moves to whichever receiver you plumb it into — if you need to know precisely what the certification on this part number covers, ask us before ordering and we will confirm it in writing. Separately, no independent electrical or equipment safety listing is published for the packaged machine, and we will not imply one. Where an insurer, a jurisdiction or a corporate standard requires an independent third-party listing on installed plant, resolve that before purchase rather than at inspection.

Shipping and Delivery

Freight only within the lower 48 states, priced live at checkout from the delivery address you enter rather than estimated here. At 1,184 lbs it comes off the truck with a dock or a forklift; if you have neither, collection from the carrier's terminal is the alternative. Residential delivery carries a residential fee, shown at checkout when it applies. Look the crate over before you sign, and put any damage on the bill of lading at the point of delivery — after a clean signature a concealed-damage claim becomes very hard to pursue, and photographs taken while the driver is still there are what usually settle one.

Warranty

Published standard cover is 1 Year consumer and 1 Year commercial. An extended 3 Year factory warranty is available, and the True Blue 5-Year warranty applies when a Quincy authorised start-up commissions the machine — a condition to settle before first run, since the longest term on offer depends on who performs the start-up rather than on when you ask. Under any term, do not open the airend or the motor before a claim has been raised and assessed; a disassembled component is routinely treated as an unverifiable fault. Keep the commissioning paperwork and the fluid and filter change records together, because a claim will ask for both.
