Ranger RJS-1T High Stand: Support Between 54.5" and 80.5"
Most jack stands are floor tools. This one is not. The RJS-1T starts at 54.5" (1,382 mm) fully collapsed and extends to 80.5" (2,045 mm) — meaning its lowest setting is above the point where an ordinary jack stand runs out of column. It exists for a specific and slightly nerve-racking moment: a vehicle that is already in the air, on a lift, about to have something heavy removed from it.
That is when a vehicle's balance changes. Pull an engine and a transmission out of a car sitting on a two-post lift and the centre of mass moves rearward, sometimes a long way. Take a body off a frame, a cab off a chassis, a bed off a pickup, and the same thing happens more dramatically. A high stand goes under a designated support point and takes the load that the lift arms were never asked to hold in that new configuration.

Those are different numbers, not two ways of writing one number. If your job sits anywhere near either limit, confirm the rating with us in writing before you order — we will get the current figure straight from Ranger. And whichever it turns out to be, treat a stand rating the way a professional does: as a ceiling that must not be approached, on a stand used in a set with the load shared, not as a target to design a job around.
Why height changes the physics
A tall stand is not simply a short stand with more column. Every inch of extension increases the leverage that any sideways nudge — a wrench pull, a knee, a body panel swinging — exerts against the base. That is why the base specification matters more here than on a low stand: this one lands on a 12" (305 mm) base, and the load path from the support point at 80.5" down through the column into that base is only as good as the floor under it.
So the siting rules are not boilerplate on a stand this tall. Flat floor. Level floor. Concrete in sound condition, capable of carrying the load without spalling under a concentrated footprint. Extend the column no further than the job actually needs, since a partly extended column is inherently more stable than the same column at full stretch. Set it against the vehicle's own designated support points — the ones in the manufacturer's service information — never a floor pan, a plastic sill trim or a suspension arm that is about to be unbolted. And use stands in matched sets so the load is shared rather than concentrated at one column.
It is designed to be moved
The other half of the design brief is that a tall stand which lives in a corner because it is a nuisance to move never gets used. At 30 lbs. (13 kg) shipping weight one person carries this one, and it ships in a slim 52" x 13" x 3" (1,333 mm x 330 mm x 76 mm) carton — a shape that tells you something useful about storage. Regardless of what it says: never modify a jack stand. Do not drill it, do not weld an extension or a wider foot onto it, and do not disassemble it before a claim is inspected. Each of those turns a tested load-bearing structure into an untested one, and it ends the coverage at the same time.
