-Description
-Levelling legs are the reason this bench works on a real shop floor
Most catalogue benches assume a flat floor. Almost no working garage has one — slabs are poured with drainage fall, they settle at the joints, and a trowelled finish is rarely true across five feet. The iDeal PWB-TC-1600 answers that with fully adjustable levelling leg stands at each corner, which is a small feature with an outsized effect: you set the top true to a spirit level instead of shimming it with washers and hoping. A bench that rocks is a bench nobody trusts a torque wrench on.
Around that sits a heavy-duty steel bench with a two-drawer lockable tool cabinet integrated into the frame, a durable powder-coat finish and a 2″ retaining fence running along three top edges. It bolts together from a flat crate, which matters more than it sounds — see the assembly section below.
Space, access and the measurements to take first
Footprint is 60″ W x 28″ L x 34.75″ H. The integrated cabinet occupies 26.25″ W x 16″ L x 10″ H under the deck, leaving the rest of the underside open. The declared support capacity is printed in the specification table further down this page; we have deliberately not restated it in prose, because the figure is stated once, by the manufacturer, and repeating a number is how a typo becomes a fact.
Three checks before ordering, all of them the buyer's to make. Is the wall run genuinely clear at 60″, allowing for a stool and for anything hanging above the bench? Will the crate get from the truck to the room — doorways, tight corners, a step at the threshold? And is the floor within the travel of the levelling feet, or does it fall away so sharply that you need to pack under a stand? None of these can be answered from a product page, and all of them are cheaper to answer before delivery.
2.54 mm of steel, and where it earns its keep
The bench is fabricated from 2.54 mm steel. Gauge is the specification that quietly decides whether a bench is still flat in five years. Thin decks dish where you hammer and deform around a bolted-down vice, because the load has nowhere to go; a thicker deck transfers it into the frame. If you intend to mount a vice, a press or an arbor plate permanently, gauge is the number to compare between benches — not the drawer count.
The 2″ fence on three sides earns its keep the first time you slide a tray of hardware across the top. It contains rolling parts, gives you a datum to butt stock against, and keeps liquid spills on the bench and off your boots. The fourth edge is left open on purpose so you have a face to clamp to and a lip you can slide heavy work over rather than lift it.
Storage that is structural, not bolted-on
The two-drawer cabinet forms part of the bench's own structure rather than sitting inside it as a separate cart. Two consequences follow. Loading the drawers heavily does not rack the top out of true, and there is no dead gap between cabinet and frame for hardware to vanish into. Both drawers lock — worth having in any bay more than one person uses, and worth having at home for exactly the same reason.
Flat-packed on purpose
The bench arrives knocked down and bolts together. A welded bench of this size cannot be carried up a stair or through a standard interior door; this one can, in pieces, and it is assembled where it will live. Set aside a couple of unhurried hours, a socket set and someone to help you lower the top onto the frame. Snug the frame fasteners, sit the bench on its feet, then level it before you finally tighten everything down.
Confirm the top width before you build to it
Published figures for the working surface differ. The feature list gives a work bench area of 59.5″ x 27.5″; the specification table gives a table top work area of 59″ W x 27.5″ L. The depth agrees, the width does not. If the bench is going into a fixed opening, between two cabinets, or under an existing shelf run, treat neither width as final and ask us to confirm it in writing first — we will go back to iDeal for the answer before you order.
Perfect for
- A working home garage where the bench is the main assembly surface and needs to sit level on a sloped slab.
- A small professional shop that wants a tear-down station with its own lockable storage rather than a shared roll cab.
- Dealership and fleet bays that need a specification they can order again identically as bays are added.
- Shared or teaching spaces, where lockable drawers and a fixed station stop tooling wandering.
In the crate
The bench structure, the top with its retaining fence, the two-drawer lockable tool cabinet, the adjustable levelling leg stands and the bolt-together hardware, in a powder-coat finish. That is what the manufacturer states is included, and we are not going to imply a vice, a drawer liner or a power strip that is not in the crate.

About ratings and listings
The support figure quoted for this bench is the manufacturer's own rating, arrived at by iDeal rather than by an outside body. No independent third-party listing is claimed for it, and you will not find one implied anywhere in our copy. For workshop furniture that is entirely normal; the independent listing schemes in this trade exist for vehicle lifting equipment. If an insurer, a corporate purchasing standard or a local inspector requires an externally listed bench, ask them for the requirement in writing and send it to us before ordering, and we will tell you plainly whether this unit meets it.
Shipping and delivery
Delivered by freight within the lower 48. The cost is quoted live at checkout against your own address, so it reflects today's rates instead of a stale figure typed into a description. Plan for unloading: a forklift, a loading dock, or several people and a pallet jack. If none of that is available, you can collect the shipment from the carrier's nearest terminal instead. Deliveries to a residential address carry a residential fee, disclosed at checkout before you pay. Inspect the crate on the tailgate, before you sign anything: mark any damage on the delivery paperwork, take photographs, and contact us the same day. Once a clean receipt is signed, a damage claim becomes very difficult to pursue.
Warranty
Covered by the manufacturer's limited warranty. The current terms, the exclusions and how to open a claim live on our warranty claims page — we link them rather than restate them, because the terms belong to the manufacturer and a summary on a product page goes stale without anyone noticing. If a specific warranty term matters to your decision, ask us to put it in writing before you buy. And if something does go wrong, do not strip or modify the unit first: report it and photograph it as found, because a part that has already been taken apart usually falls outside the claim.
