Description
-Lanair XT300 Waste Oil Heater — Value Package 3 (roof-mount vent)
The XT300 packages on this site share a heater. What separates them is how the exhaust leaves the building, and this one carries an explicit note: Value Package 3 is the roof-mount vent configuration. That is not a detail to skim. Choosing between a roof penetration and a sidewall run is the decision that determines your installation cost, your permit conversation and whether the kit in the crate is the kit you need.
Why the venting route is the real decision
A roof-mount vent takes the flue straight up and out through the roof deck. It is the configuration this package is built and flashed for, and it has real advantages: a vertical run draws better than a run with horizontal offsets, the termination is above the building where wind effects are simpler, and you are not routing hot pipe past a wall where people work.
The cost is that you are cutting a hole in a roof. That means flashing that matches your pitch, a storm collar that seals it, support inside the structure, and a roofing detail that will still be watertight after five freeze-thaw cycles. This kit contains the parts for it, flashed for pitches from flat to a 6/12 pitch and cut for a 16 ft eave. If your roof is steeper than a 6/12 pitch, or your eave is higher than 16 ft, the kit as supplied will not finish the job and you should tell us before you order rather than after.
What is in the chimney kit
- 1 chimney cap
- 1 Class A chimney pipe, 24"
- 1 storm collar
- 1 roof flashing, 0/12-6/12 pitch
- 1 Class A chimney pipe, 36"
- 1 finishing collar
- 1 slip connector, 14"
- 4 black pipe, 24"
- 1 black tee pipe with cap
- 1 roof support bracket
- 1 elbow, 90 degree
The slip connector is the part that quietly saves the installation: it takes up the difference between the length your run needs and the lengths the pipe comes in, which is the gap that otherwise sends somebody back to a supply house mid-job.
The heater itself
The XT300 is the largest unit in the XT line, rated at 300,000 BTUH with a listed heating area of 10,000 square feet and a fuel input of 2.14 GPH. It runs on the waste stream a shop already produces: used crankcase oil to 50 weight, used synthetic oil, used automatic transmission fluid, and used #1 and #2 fuel oil.
The build details that matter over a decade of service are the 10-gauge cold-rolled steel combustion chamber, which has to survive regular scraping; the fine-grained galvanized cabinet, specified rust-resistant for humid shop environments; the internal fan, mounted inside to keep shop noise down; and adjustable locking louvers that let you aim the discharge and keep it aimed.
Will it fit?
Start above your head. This is a suspended unit with a listed hanging weight of 630 lbs, and confirming that your roof structure or wall steel can carry it — with sound connection points — is the customer's responsibility. It is worth a qualified opinion before the truck arrives.
The cabinet is 36" high x 46" wide x 48" deep. Venting is 8" Class A, and although this package is specified for a roof-mount vent, the heater itself allows the flue to exit at the top or the side. Power is 120 V-60Hz, 20 Amps. Compressed air must be present at 2 CFM, 15-18 PSI for as long as the burner runs — plan a dryer and a filter on that branch, because the compressor is now heating plant rather than a bench tool.
Chimney termination height above the roof, clearance to combustible surfaces and whether a permit and inspection are required are all set by your local mechanical code. Those checks are the buyer's to make, and on a roof-mount installation they are the checks most likely to bite.

Ducting is shown on this listing as Call. That is genuinely unresolved in our data — other packages in the family show No — so if you intend to duct the output, ask us before ordering, or look at the XTD models, which are listed as ductable.
Perfect for
- Buildings where a roof penetration is the practical route — no convenient exterior wall, or a wall you do not want hot pipe running along.
- Standard-pitch commercial roofs — the supplied flashing covers flat through a 6/12 pitch.
- Large open shops and warehouses — 10,000 square feet of listed coverage.
- Shops generating their own oil — the fuel is already on site and already a disposal line in the budget.
Certification, plainly
Lanair states its units are UL listed and that claim appears on this product's page today; we pass it on as the manufacturer's claim.
It is not, however, a substitute for local approval, and on a roof-mount install that gap is where problems live. Clearances, termination height, combustion air and permits come from your local mechanical code, and an insurer or fleet policy may add its own conditions. Verify with your authority having jurisdiction before you order. If an underwriter wants current listing documentation, ask us and we will get it from Lanair.
Shipping and delivery
Freight only, lower 48 states, crated and palletised. Delivery is to your address; unloading is the customer's responsibility. With a forklift or a dock it is straightforward; without one, take terminal pickup, which we offer on every freight shipment. Residential addresses carry a residential fee, applied at checkout.
Inspect before you sign the delivery receipt: corners, wrapping, banding. Anything you find goes on the bill of lading in the driver's presence, with photographs. Signing a clean receipt hands the carrier the argument that the shipment arrived intact.
Warranty
Coverage is Lanair's. Ask us for the warranty document for this model if you want to read the terms before ordering. And in all cases: do not dismantle a part before claiming on it — a field-opened component is normally excluded. Photograph it as found and begin at our warranty claims page.
