Most shops own a creeper and a stool, and neither one is right for half the jobs. This is both, on one frame: the seat drops to 3.25 in. (83 mm) off the floor for sill and rocker work, and rises to 44 in. (1,118 mm) so you are looking straight into an engine bay or across a workbench. The back reclines through five positions and the front adjusts through three, so the seat can be set flat-backed and upright for close work, laid back for reaching under a wing, or somewhere between for the two hours you are going to spend on a wiring loom.
Why the Height Range Matters More Than It Sounds
Working posture is what determines whether a technician is still comfortable at four in the afternoon. Too low into an engine bay and you are supporting your own upper body all day; too high under a sill and you are craning sideways. That matters in a workshop for one specific reason: powder coat resists the chipping that starts rust, and a creeper seat lives its life being knocked against jack stands and dropped tools. The padding is described as super plush and is fully wrapped in heavy-duty vinyl, so brake fluid, coolant and grease wipe off rather than soak in, and a slightly raised headrest supports the neck when the back is reclined.
It rolls on six 2.5 in. oil-resistant caster rollers, all swivelling. Six wheels rather than four spreads the load and makes the seat far less inclined to tip when you push off sideways. Oil resistance is not a marketing word here — ordinary rubber wheels swell, soften and eventually crumble on a floor with oil and solvent on it, which is exactly the floor this thing lives on. Ground clearance is 2.5 in. when fully lowered, enough to roll over an air line or an extension cord instead of stopping dead on it.
Rated capacity is 570 lbs (259 kg). That is a generous margin for a seated technician and whatever leaning, pushing and pulling the job involves, which is the load case that actually breaks cheap seats.
Will It Fit Your Bay?
The seat measures 44 in. (1,118 mm) long and 17 in. (432 mm) wide, so it parks in the gap between a lift column and a toolbox rather than needing a spot of its own. Check the aisle you intend to roll it down — 17 in. of width is narrow, but six casters want a reasonably flat floor to be worth having. Expansion joints and broken concrete are what stop small casters.
