Description
-Ranger TruSensor 2-in-1 Sensors — Silver Metal Stem
Metal stems are a specification, not a finish. Where a vehicle left the factory with a clamp-in metal valve stem, that is usually because somebody decided the application needed one: sustained high speed, high inflation pressure, a heavy-duty or towing duty cycle, or a wheel design where a rubber stem would be poorly supported. Fitting a rubber snap-in sensor to that vehicle is a downgrade even when it physically fits. This listing is the answer to that — the same programmable TruSensor, on a silver metal stem.
The sensor itself is Ranger's universal 2-in-1 unit: one stocked part number that is written to the vehicle at fitting rather than built for it at the factory, so a single item covers both 315 MHz and 433 MHz. What changes between listings in this family is the stem, and the stem is what should decide which one you buy.
Metal stem or rubber stem?
A clamp-in metal stem is fastened through the rim with a nut and sealed with a grommet, so its retention does not depend on the elasticity of a rubber body. That gives it three properties a shop cares about. It handles higher inflation pressures without deflecting. It does not soften, craze or take a permanent set with heat and age the way rubber does. And it is the correct match for a vehicle that was specified with one, which keeps you out of an argument about whether the repair was to standard.
It also asks more of the fitter, and it is only fair to say so. A clamp-in stem is torque-sensitive: under-tighten it and it leaks, over-tighten it and you distort the grommet or strip the fitting, and either way the customer is back. The nut and grommet are service items to be renewed with the tyre, not reused indefinitely. And on an alloy wheel in a salted climate, a metal stem sits in contact with a dissimilar metal, so seating it correctly with the supplied hardware genuinely matters.
If none of that describes your work — if you are fitting passenger tyres to alloy wheels at ordinary pressures — the rubber snap-in version of this sensor is the easier and more usual choice, and we also list it.
How a universal sensor earns its place
Conventional replacement sensors are made frequency-specific, so the part number is effectively a list of vehicles and your stockholding grows with every make you take on. A programmable sensor inverts that. The blank is written with the right protocol and ID at the moment of fitting, using a TPMS programming tool, which is why one line on the shelf serves both frequencies. The practical gain is not shelf space; it is that the sensor in your hand is never the wrong sensor for the car on the ramp.
An honest note about this page — two things to check before ordering
First, the quantity. The features list published on this page reads "Includes 12 or 24 Metal Sensors", which is the manufacturer's copy covering both pack sizes in this family. This listing's own title and web address identify it as the smaller pack. Because the copy is ambiguous and we would rather not guess on your behalf, confirm the pack count with us before you order if the exact number matters to your job.
Second, the specification block. The figures published further down this page — display, battery, input voltage, temperature range, physical dimensions and weight — describe the TS58R TruSensor programming tool. They are not the specification of a sensor and they do not mean a tool ships with this pack. They came in with the manufacturer's copy and are left in place, labelled, rather than deleted. If you need the programmer as well, it is a separate listing and there is a combined kit; tell us what you already own and we will point you at the right one.

Working with a TruSensor programmer
Stated as background, not as pack contents: the TruSensor programmer activates, diagnoses and reads 100% of OE and aftermarket TPMS sensors and carries 98% vehicle coverage across domestic, Asian and European platforms. It will copy an ID out of a sensor that still responds, accept an ID typed in when the original is dead, generate fresh IDs for a complete set, or read the IDs the vehicle's control module is already expecting. If you run a programmer from another maker, confirm with us that it writes this sensor before you order.
Perfect For
- Shops servicing vehicles specified with clamp-in stems from the factory, where matching the original specification is the whole job.
- Light truck, towing and fleet work running at higher inflation pressures.
- Performance and track-day builds, where sustained speed makes stem retention a safety question rather than a preference.
- Tyre retailers keeping one universal sensor line in both stem styles instead of a make-by-make matrix.
What's in the Box
Ranger TruSensor universal 2-in-1 sensors with silver metal stems, in the pack quantity confirmed for this listing. The page describes sensors; it does not describe a programming tool, a carry case, cables or valve service kits, so please do not assume any of those are included. Ask us for an itemised pack list — including whether nuts, grommets and caps are supplied — and we will get it from Ranger in writing.
Approvals, said plainly
Nothing in the data behind this listing claims a third-party approval or conformity mark for these sensors, so this page does not claim one either. A tyre pressure sensor is a radio transmitter fitted to a road vehicle, and the rules that govern that are national — a part that is fine to sell in one market is not automatically approved in another. If you are fitting outside the United States, or a fleet or insurer wants documented conformity for parts fitted to its vehicles, tell us exactly what you need to see and we will request it rather than reassure you from a product page.
Shipping and delivery
We deliver to the lower 48 states and the shipping charge is worked out live at checkout for the address you enter, so it reflects today's rates. Small packs normally travel as parcels; if an order moves by freight instead, the carrier arranges a delivery window with you, someone on site must be able to unload it, and terminal collection is an alternative. A residential delivery attracts a residential fee. Please check the shipment against the paperwork before you sign and note any damage or shortage on the delivery receipt at the time. Collection from the pickup locations shown further down this page is available too.
Warranty
Ranger's written product warranty applies and we will send you the current document on request. The data behind this listing states no term, so this page prints none; ask us and we will confirm it properly. For sensor claims in particular: keep the pack identification until the set is fitted and proven, and do not re-stem, open or otherwise rework a sensor you may want to claim on, because a modified part stops being a warranty part.
