Description
-Ranger RS-500DS Stainless Steel Spray Wash Cabinet
Here is the argument for this machine in one line: it asks for the same floor as its larger sibling and roughly a foot less ceiling. Recommended floor space is 44" x 43" (1,118 mm x 1,092 mm) and the cabinet stands 66" (1,676 mm) tall. If your washer has to live under a mezzanine, under a low garage ceiling, or under the ductwork that runs the length of the bay, that height is the specification that decides the purchase — and you give up none of the platter diameter to get it.
The RS-500DS is an aqueous parts washer: hot water and detergent, sprayed under pressure onto a rotating turntable inside a sealed stainless cabinet. It holds 50 gallons of solution and takes 500 lbs. (227 kg) on the platter, with 43" (1,092 mm) of clear height and 32" (813 mm) of width inside the cabinet.
Eighteen nozzles at higher pressure
The pump is specified at 75 psi @ 70 gpm through 18 brass nozzles. That is worth reading carefully, because it is the genuine engineering difference between this cabinet and a taller one: the same pump flow divided between fewer outlets arrives at each nozzle harder. In a cabinet with 43" of interior height, the spray does not have to travel as far to reach the top of the load, so the design trades a little coverage for a little more energy at the nozzle — which is the right trade on the smaller cabinet and the wrong one on a taller machine.
Practically, that suits parts with baked-on grease and blind recesses more than it suits very tall assemblies. Cylinder heads, manifolds, brackets, gearbox casings, hydraulic components, batches of small castings on the parts tree — this is the size and the character of work the RS-500DS is built around.
Will It Fit?
Three checks, in order.
Ceiling and access. The cabinet is 66" tall and the door is a full-opening octagonal design, so allow swing room in front of it as well as headroom above it. Floor. Recommended floor space is 44" x 43" and it rides on heavy-duty casters, so it can be repositioned — but a level floor is what keeps the solution level and the drain working as intended. Delivery route. It arrives at 670 lbs. (304 kg), crated at 46" x 46" x 68" (1,168 mm x 1,168 mm x 1,727 mm). Measure the doorway, the corner and the turn between the truck and the final position before ordering; that measurement is the customer's responsibility, and it is where these installations come unstuck.
Power is the fourth check and the one that cannot be fixed afterwards. The motor is specified as 1 HP / 208-230V / 60 Hz / 1 Ph, or 3 HP / 380-415V / 50 Hz / 3 Ph — a single-phase build or a three-phase one — with a 6 kW electric heater in addition. Tell us which supply the building has before you order.
The turntable is the same 30 inches
The platter is 30" (762 mm) in diameter and friction driven. Friction drive is a deliberate choice rather than a cost saving: if a part shifts, or a long casting catches the cabinet wall, the drive slips rather than forcing the obstruction and loading the motor. On a machine that is regularly filled by whoever is nearest with whatever needs washing, that is the property that keeps the drive alive.
Around it, the cabinet is neoprene-sealed with a gasket-free door — no perishable door gasket to harden, split and leak hot solution onto the floor — and the interior welds are contamination-proof, which is the detail that decides how a stainless cabinet ages when it spends its life full of hot alkaline solution.
Heat, and keeping the solution working
Dual water heaters bring the tank up to working temperature quickly instead of over a morning, and the heated cabinet runs on an adjustable thermostat across 160° - 180° F (71° - 82° C). Temperature does most of the cleaning in an aqueous washer; pressure only delivers it. A machine run cold cleans badly however good the pump is.
An automatic low water shutoff stops the heaters and pump running dry — the commonest way a parts washer is destroyed, and usually on a Friday. A stainless steel oil skimmer lifts floating oil off the surface so the detergent lasts and parts are not re-coated on the way out. A removable tank screen and a large drain pipe make the periodic clean-out straightforward, and a removable parts tree plus a small parts basket keep fasteners and small components out of the tank.
Perfect For
- Independent workshops with a height limit — the whole reason this model exists rather than the taller one.
- Engine, gearbox and hydraulic rebuilders washing components rather than complete assemblies.
- Shops leaving solvent behind — safe aqueous operation with no harsh chemicals changes what you store, breathe and pay to dispose of.
- Busy service departments that want parts cleaning to happen unattended while a technician does something billable.

Certification, honestly
No third-party safety listing is claimed in this product's data, and we are not going to write one onto the page to fill the section. The claim that is made is a NEMA-rated electrical panel, which describes how the electrical enclosure is sealed against water and dust — genuinely the rating that matters on a machine full of hot solution, but a construction specification rather than an independent listing of the completed machine.
Those are different documents, and some insurers, corporate facility standards and workplace inspectors ask for the second by name on hard-wired equipment. If that is a condition where this washer will be installed, tell us before you order and we will confirm exactly what Ranger issues for this model.
Shipping and delivery
Crated freight to the lower 48 states, with the cost quoted live at checkout for your actual address rather than taken from a table.
Work out the unload first. The carrier's driver is responsible for getting the crate to the tailgate and nothing past that, so a forklift or a loading dock is what you want waiting; at 670 lbs. a pallet jack on level ground is the practical minimum. Without either, choose terminal pickup and collect from the carrier's yard at your convenience. Delivery to a home address is a residential delivery and carries a residential fee. In-person collection is also possible from the pickup locations listed further down this page.
Look the crate over before signing for it — top corners and door faces first. Damage recorded on the bill of lading while the driver is present is claimable; the same damage reported after a clean signature usually is not.
Warranty
Ranger's warranty document for this model is linked in the downloads section on this page. The term and the conditions that go with it are in that document, and it is what a claim is settled against, so read it there rather than take a paraphrase from us.
Our own rule, which protects the claim: if a heater, the pump or the drive misbehaves, leave the machine as it is and call us. A component that has already been removed cannot be assessed for what failed first, and that turns a straightforward warranty claim into an argument nobody wins.
